Macbook Air M1 - Pink and is rebooting Posted: 05 Jan 2021 01:41 AM PST Hi, I´m developing in dotnet core 5.0 on my Macbook Air M1. When the compiler is restarting in some cases the OS restarts by starting with pink screen and then reboots. Anyone getting the same issue ? Can this be related to hardware issue ? This has only happened when I´m restarting or starting building the software with "dotnet build" or "dontet watch run" Update : When looking into this I saw that dotnet was running multiple times in Activity Monitor, not sure if that is the cause and can create some issues. Posted: 05 Jan 2021 01:45 AM PST What is the recommended radio app for MacOS? Something very simple for tray would be also fine. Currently I am using MyTuner, but it has problem with automatic switching between the output devices. [link] [comments]
Apple TV+ convert videos to drm free mkv? Posted: 05 Jan 2021 01:44 AM PST Hi! I have an active Apple TV+ subscription. I am wondering, if I can copy/download/convert downloaded videos in the Apple TV app to DRM free e.g. MKV videos? Do you know a software for that? I know for example TunesKit AUdio converter that converts Apple Music (in iTunes/Music) to DRM free mp3 files. [link] [comments]
Move APFS partition in order to make space for larger EFI? Posted: 05 Jan 2021 01:44 AM PST As the title says. I have a too smallish EFI (FAT) that I want to extend with one GB. There is free space directly after the APFS partition, and I would like to shift the APFS 1 GB "to the right". Have tried Gparted but that seems to be unsupported due to the fact the APFS can't be checked. Are there any other, free or commercial, solutions that would allow me to do this? If that matters, this is a PC notebook with Hackintosh and OpenCore 0.6.4 (Big Sur) that works just fine, and I want to avoid a re-install. I do have a Timemachine backup if that would ease things. Font Blurry on new 1440p monitor Posted: 05 Jan 2021 12:08 AM PST Hi there, I recently bought a 1440p monitor for my home set up and for some reason the font is blurry and doesn't seem to be anti aliased. My other monitor and the retina display are both fine. I have a 2019 Macbook Pro, with Big Sur. Any ideas on what to do to fix it? [link] [comments]
Mac keeps randomly shutting off and crashing Posted: 05 Jan 2021 12:01 AM PST 2013 MacBook Pro I bought last year. Recently, it keeps randomly crashing. I have a RGB keyboard connected. I turn the Mac after it crashes, but the screen doesn't turn on (but the keyboard does power on). Once in so often, the screen will actually turn on it'll let me type in my password and load the OS. When it's almost done loading, it'll crash again. If I'm lucky, it'll go to the normal OS, but there's about a 1/3 chance that it'll crash again in like 20 minutes. I forget what the Apple system report says but it says some massive word wall and something about power supply or something I can't remember. Any help? How much will this cost to fix? Posted: 04 Jan 2021 12:09 PM PST MacOS returning user thoughts I have not used a Mac as my daily driver for about 7 years, and even then I was not using it for anything more than web browsing. I recently inherited my mother's 2015 13in MBP and let me say that this experience is mind-blowing. Now the hardware is coming up on 6 years old, has a keyboard issue, and heats up pretty easily, but the software is phenomenal. Running Big Sur and everything I do from web browsing to file management is leaps and bounds above the current Windows operating system. Recently I have fallen in love with Finder. This built-in function can manage my companies vast one drive account with better speed and accuracy than my previous computer. I can find a need in the haystack file within seconds. The computer that I came from was not some junk one either. Asus S15 and cost $800 at the time of purchase last year, and yet somehow this 6-year old mac can outpace it in most situations. I am slowly learning more and more about this operating system and recently ordered the M1 Air which should arrive Thursday. I am really excited about that purchase so that I can finally use sidecar when I run some DND sessions. I know this is a lot of rambling but most of my close friends wouldn't know half of the words I am using in this thread and I needed to express how blown away I am by this system. I hope you all have a wonderful day! [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Jan 2021 03:14 PM PST Hey guys, I've been searching but found no conclusive answer. Also, wanted to ask if people had first-hand experience doing this. Can you upgrade to Big Sur and then literally use a Catalina Time Machine backup to revert back to Catalina using CMD + R? Is it really that simple? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Jan 2021 10:18 PM PST My MacBook Pro says "macOS Sierra Version 10.12.6 Early 2011" So I want to download an update that requires 10.13 High Sierra, is there anything I can do?? I've looked all over google and found no helpful answers. [link] [comments]
I can't change my wallpaper anymore on Big Sur Posted: 04 Jan 2021 05:35 PM PST Idk exactly what happened; all of the sudden when I try to change wallpaper it'll reset to the last wallpaper I had on each respective monitor? massages not showing contact name Posted: 04 Jan 2021 09:04 PM PST Forgive me if this has already been asked or addressed, after updating to Big Sur, the messages app no longer displays contact names. it's not a iCloud issue because the photos or initials still show up but the names don't. attached is a photo of what it looks like. Trying to upgrade to Big Sur—not enough room!! Posted: 04 Jan 2021 08:12 PM PST Exactly what the title says. Don't know where to get the extra room I need for it. Any suggestions? (I have 121 GB of storage but only 16.4 GB available. Most of the space is taken up by apps—31.98 GB—and "other"—46.28 GB.) Thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Jan 2021 08:05 PM PST In my job there is frequently a lot of copying of large batches of material from a lot of different portable drives both to and from the machine I'm working from and they often take hours. As I go about the work day and those copies tick over, different copy operations will complete and drives and ports can be freed up. Trouble is though, I can't usually remember which progress bar is which and the folder names that show up in inverted commas after the word "to" in the finder copy window are rarely of much help. 3 or 4 hours later, I frequently don't know anymore what I'm actually copying, from where, to where or why. This makes it hard to know a lot of things I need to know like, what drives can be unplugged, what ports can be freed up, what data do I still need somewhere and is that the stuff that's copying right now or was that something else? Also importantly, if I have something that's got hours left to finish copying and it's holding up other operations like needing to restart the system for example, then I also need to know as much about the copy in progress as possible to help me determine if maybe it's not the end of the world to cancel that copy operation even if it costs me some wasted time, should it turn out that the active copy operation was something lower priority. So is there some way, while one of these big several hour long copy operations are going on, for me to get more information than just the name of the destination folder. I'd specifically first and foremost like to know what drive the materials are copying from and which one they're copying to, but also things like the file path of the source and destination folders so I can use the parent directories to help discern as much useful information as I can about what the intent behind the copy operation was when it was started at the beginning of the day. Windows 10 keeps making my Mac bright even tho brightness is set to low Posted: 04 Jan 2021 08:04 PM PST I'm running windows 10 through boot camp and there's one thing that's pissing me off, for some reason if I'm using auto brightness on or off in windows 10 the screen will get much brighter in lets say google.com and get dimmer while using the settings app in dark mode, I've already updated all the drivers and it not sure what else to try. Any ideas ? [link] [comments]
Posted: 04 Jan 2021 08:03 PM PST Hello, I'm getting kernel panics whenever I shutdown or restart my Mac. This happens only on shutdown and restart. I recently changed the language on my Mac, and then the problems started happening, but I'm not sure it's from the language change. I'm using a 27-inch iMac from 2017, with Big Sur 11.1. Posted: 04 Jan 2021 06:59 PM PST So essentially this ^ I have tried to sign in from the login screen and I am 100000% typing my password in correctly, it does a little "load up" bar and gets maybe 1/10th of the way through, and then reboots with the apple logo right back to the login screen. I have no clue what to do in this case. If anyone has any clue what to do and has fixed this problem, could you please point me in the correct direction? Thanks! [link] [comments]
How do I reset my window sizes to the Apple default? Posted: 04 Jan 2021 06:49 PM PST I've been looking around online but have struggled to figure out how to do so. I wanted to know if there is a way to reset windows to the sizes and orientation they were when opened for the first time and if this solution would be permanent. [link] [comments] |
