| Posted: 14 Jan 2021 06:35 PM PST All my favorite shows are on here so I'm REALLY trying to love this. But, The audio on Homepod stereo is absolutely awful. Goes back and forth randomly between speakers, keeps playing audio when returning to the home screen. It's really bad. On top of that the video quality is about 720p to my eye on most shows. Have to watch BBC shows to get anything better. Am I alone here? [link] [comments]  | ||
| Use TV AND HomePod Audio simultaneously (TV OS 14 vs TV OS 13) Posted: 15 Jan 2021 01:52 AM PST Hi, I bought a used Apple TV wich had TV OS ~13.2 (or sth.) on it and with that version I could select the TV audio boxes AND the homepod as sound output. I updated to 14.2 - and while it is nice that I do not have to select the homepod every time anymore, it seems that audio is only output on the HomePod and I cannot use that Hybrid mode anymore. Any ideas if I can make that work? That was quite nice, the sound was completely synchronized and sound quality improved vs only the HomePod. Thanks! [link] [comments]  | ||
| Very low sound when connecting and adjusting apple TV with AVR recevier Posted: 14 Jan 2021 09:31 PM PST I always experience low sound when connecting Apple TV4k with avr Danon 3400H. Particularly, when watching some atmos movie such as Mission Impossible 1 [ I did last night. Sound was really low. I had to turn the sound on AVR a lot. Yet, the DV picture looked great. is there any suggestion for both AVR and appleTV setting order to make the sound better. In comparison, even Dolby sound 5.1 from Netflix via Nvidia Shield is far more superior. I wonder how to set appleTV and Denon to be performed better. thank in advance [link] [comments]  | ||
| Can anyone help? My Apple TV app won't play Godfather Coda. Posted: 14 Jan 2021 11:00 PM PST I have a 2019 Samsung TV and can watch all my other Apple films fine. Coda is the only film I can't watch or even Airplay across. I get a message saying this film can only be played on Apple products. Again all films can airplay fine too. | Posted: 14 Jan 2021 11:51 AM PST On the iTunes store, Lord of the Rings says "You can watch content in 4K only on Apple TV 4k". Does anyone know exactly the requirements? For example, would the AppleTV channel on Roku be 4k capable, or do I need to buy an Apple TV 4k box? Presumably I do not need to buy a literal Apple television that is 4k capable. It seems that I can watch the video in 4k via Movies Anywhere after purchasing through iTunes, but their subtitles on Roku are replacing all Spanish characters (tildes and accents) with question marks, so I'd like to find a more direct way to watch in 4k. Purchased a show on AppleTV a few days ago that played in French, figured I made a mistake, didn't think much of it. Made another purchase today and that one played in French also! Checked my language settings, they're still in English. Got suspicious and checked a few things in my library and sure enough, everything is playing in French! WTF?! | Sold an Apple TV 3 on eBay and the Buyer is Trying to Return Posted: 14 Jan 2021 10:37 AM PST Sold an old Apple TV 3 on eBay this week, boxed, but with no remote or power supply. Listed as 'good working order' as I had verified it was working before selling. Buyer is trying to return it as 'item not as described' because the YouTube app froze twice while he was watching videos. I asked him to send a video of the problem to confirm, but he said it happened twice over 4 hours. Sounds like a software bug or a drop in intetnet connection to me, so I'm arguing it's not defective. He claimed that his intetnet is fine, and doesn't have problems with his Apple TV 1 watching YouTube. But I understand that a first generation Apple TV doesn't support 3rd party apps such as YouTube? He paid £26+ £5 p+p for it the Apple TV 3, a steal in my opinion! Who's in the right here? Me or the buyer? [link] [comments]  | ||

| Problems with Apple TV 4K connected to LG CX and LG SN9YG Posted: 14 Jan 2021 08:47 AM PST I'm having multiple issues with the audio coming from my Apple TV 4K that's connected to the LG Oled CX followed by a soundbar using eArc. #01 #02 The connection on my soundbar says "eArc"/"PCM" when using the "Auto, Atmos…" setting. Shouldn't the Apple TV output audio in LPCM when set to "Auto, Atmos…", or is that the same thing as "PCM"? I read somewhere that PCM is 2.0 audio only. #03 When this happens, I've tried restarting the Apple TV using "System > Restart", but the problem persists. I need to restart the TV to reset the audio, which make me think that the TV is the problem. I read somewhere that the latest firmware updates for the LG Oled CX would fix this, but I can't seem to get ahold of the update. My current version is 03.11.30 and it says "No updates available". I'm in Sweden, if that matters. Setup: I've tried changing all the HDMI cables to new, certified, HDMI 2.1 ones, which didn't help. On the TV I have;

| AppleTV freezing when pausing content from local library Posted: 14 Jan 2021 04:41 PM PST Hey all. I've noticed a new behavior on one of my boxes. When I stream a movie from my local library (formerly iTunes library, not sure what to call it now) it will work fine up until I pause it. Once I try to start it up again it just freezes. The buttons on the remote seem unresponsive, but eventually after hitting the Menu button repeatedly I get taken back to the menu so I can restart the stream. Any ideas on what is going on? I'm using a 4th gen and my library is on an iMac. Both are on the latest software versions. I've only noticed this on one of my boxes, not all. I've also ruled out network issues. | Does HBO Max crash/error a lot for you? Posted: 14 Jan 2021 11:47 AM PST I'm watching HBO Max on my Apple TV 4K from Canada via a Smart DNS service. It crashes a lot, and I'm wondering if that's "normal", or if people generally get similar issues. I expect it's probably the Smart DNS, but I don't get errors in any other apps (Hulu being the main other US-only app I use from Canada). The HBO GO app used to crash for me a bit, and HBO Max has had errors for me from day one, but recently the number of problems has significantly increase. Problems include:
I typically have to kill and restart the app to get it working again, and in extreme cases I have to restart the Apple TV. Does this happen for others on HBO Max, or is it just my weird setup? [link] [comments]  | ||
