    This has happened a bunch of times to be recently, I pick up my phone and it is like there is some dark tint on the Lock Screen which continues after I unlock my phone. If I lock it and unlock it again, it goes away. Happens maybe 2% of the times I wake my iPhone. Anyone know what's going on here? I'm in latest update and using iPhone XR.

    Little trick - Tap with two fingers on link in Safari

    I just discovered this, and never heard of it, but it seems like if you tap with two fingers on a link, it opens as a new tab. This works on both iOS and iPadOS, although the functionality seems a bit different. On my iPhone, it opens the new tab, while on my iPad, it opens the tab in the background. Overall, it's a neat little thing!

    Edit: the behaviour for opening the tab in the background/foreground can be set in settings.

    How do I separate ringer and alerts volume with alarm volume?

    Hello, I am new to iOS and don't completely understand how these volumes work. In android, the volume settings for alarm is available in the alarm app themselves, so I can set them really high while when I get phone calls the volume is moderate.

    In an iPhone, the alarm is adjusted using the ringer and alerts in the sound and haptics settings, and since I wanted my alarm to be really loud, I have been leaving my phone on silent mode most of the time so that I don't get a heart attack every time someone texts/calls. Is there any way to separate these volumes?

    Anyone else with this issue? Paying for both apple one and iCloud storage. Worked fine last month. Can’t renew or cancel and apple can’t seem to help.

    My sister has an iPhone that is 5 years old. She keeps deleting photos that she does not want, but every update they mysteriously return. She has disabled iCloud, never synced with iTunes until today (which is a whole different issue).

    I have personally little experience with Apple products, so helping her over the phone is useless without even knowing what causes it. Does anyone here know what is the issue?

    I am reading long articles. Reading long articles at iOS can be tiresome. I looking for some app which can read articles for me. Native iOS text to speech is ok.

    Right now I am using safari reader + accessibility speech. This solution have some issues: reading have to start from beginning, sometimes safari reader ignores articles preface etc.

    I am looking for app which works like music player. I could add articles into queue. I can listen while iPhone is locked. I do not have to select text from web. Support for multiple languages.

    IOS 14.3 (latest): my base file manager can no longer access Google Drive and OneDrice anymore.

    Latest IOS 14.3: the base file manager can no longer access google doc ve and google drive.

    I tried uninstalling and reinstalling onedrive and google drive, and the same problem persists over my Iphone 8+, and XS Max.

    The reason why this is an important feature is that i am using Keepass apps like Keepassium / strongbox etc. Where the password file needs direct connection to the cloud folder.

    Before the update to the latest IOS it was fine. But it looks like new update broke this feature.

    Ps: other file managers like Readdle do not have this problem. But as I said, base file manager is required for other apps to access the cloud.

    iOS 14.3 BUG! I've been using iOS 14.3 with my iPhone X and whenever I try to open an album with an animated cover art, the Music app crashes. Am I the only one or have you experienced this bug too?

    Let's be honest, it's a little frustrating that you can't do this. When you open up your "Edit Pages" menu, you immediately get the feeling that this is where you should be able to rearrange your page order, but when you drag your fingers across the pages..... nothing happens. I feel like this would be a pretty intuitive feature that should've been there from day one, for obvious reasons.

    Also, when moving around widgets and apps, I feel as though there should be a way to lock apps to certain positions.

    When moving an app (for example) from page 3, to a folder on page 1, and you brush across another app, it causes it to move to make room for the app you're holding (even though it doesn't need to, because you're putting the app into a folder), the app that was pushed to page 2 doesn't move back into place when the app is actually put into the folder. This means you have to go to page 2 and grab the app that was moved and place it back where it belongs, then rearrange everything on page 2 that was pushed out of order, and everything on page 3, and so on. Very frustrating.

    Thoughts?

    Lifetime wrong on New iPhone 12 Mini

    Ok. This is in theory a small issue, but it really bugs me. Got my brand new 12 Mini yesterday. I set it up by scanning the code with my current phone to link to my iCloud, but set the phone up as a new phone. All goes well and I'm setting up apps and stuff. But then I happen to glance at the Lifetime counter in cellular. It's showing 4 hours and 16 minutes. On a brand new phone! This is not the first time I've encountered stupidity like this. Years ago when I got my 5s and restored a backup from an iPod touch, a high lifetime count copied over. So I reset the phone, set it up as new and that solved the problem. But this was already being set up as new.

    So I contact Apple and they set up a call. The agent was seemingly clueless about the issue. She gave some vague reasons as to how it might have happened with the SIM or backup or something. She suggested that I do a factory reset from iTunes. Well, I tried a factory reset from the phone instead, and that did indeed reset the timer. I then logged into iCloud and began setting things up all over again. Fast forward a few hours and suddenly I see the call time is back up to 4:10 without making a single call!

    This morning I contact chat support again, and this time the agent asks me if I've tried turning off background app refresh. What does that have to do with call time? Anyway, I'm scheduled for another call with a tech specialist, but I doubt they'll know anything either.

    Again, this is a minor issue and most people probably don't care, but I like to have accurate statistics displayed and it just bugs me that Apple has had this issue for so many years and doesn't seem to have any solution for it.

    Anyone else figured out how to solve this?

    Iphone battery increasing without connected to charger.

    My iPhone battery keeps increasing even after i plugged it out of charging. After charging i have to use it constantly till it drops one percent otherwise if i dont use it after a charge, battery keeps increasing. Are there any verified solutions? Is this a serious issue?

    Pictures missing // very random behavior

    I was recently trying to import pictures from the birth of my daughter from my iPhone (8; 14.2) to my Mac (11.1) after looking at them with my wife on the phone and agreeing that we should back them up.

    When plugging in my iPhone and opening "Photos", I encountered some strange behavior:

    • Photos only showed my the pictures the iPhone has in the "recent" folder. Older pictures did not show up at all. I only noticed this after the import (but did not check "delete after import")
    • When then trying to manually get the pictures on my Mac (using AirDrop), I noticed that a large amount of pictures where gone. Strangely enough, missing pictures do not cut off after or before a date but roughly 10-20% of any given day remain in the library

    Notes

    • iCloud for photos is turned off (while definitely change that...)
    • When I try and activate iCloud, it tells me that it wants to delete roughly 2k photos (as they are indexed by Finder), so I am still a bit hesitant to do that at the moment

    I have tried:

    • Everything suggested on the Apple forum (checked recently deleted, hidden pictures)
    • Tried three separate recovery softwares without any success

    Hypothesis:

    • It seems like the photos I sent to people via Whatsapp stayed in the library. It is - however - not the compressed file sent by Whatsapp but the original file

    Did anyone ever encounter that scenario or has any idea what to do? As those are the pictures around the birth of our kid, I would really like to have them. I am 100% positive they where on the phone roughly three weeks ago and other than the import yesterday, there where no changes to the phone (though there might have been an OS update)

    Hi everyone,

    I'm only quite average with computers in general and very new to Mac and Ipads (about 2 months use)

    I have a mac mini and Ipad Pro and have just purchased a 1TB Samsung T5 portable disk drive after watching YouTube videos and reviews.

    I formatted it into APFS on my mac mini. The HDD comes with software for the Mac Mini that requires a password to 'unlock' it and works fine on the mac mini.

    When I plug it into the Ipad Pro, in the Files app, it only shows the T5-SETUP pre-loaded installation files on the hdd and not the content I have added.

    I think it may have something to do with the password I set up on the Mac Mini using the Samsung SSD program. I contacted Samsung with my issue who said the HDD isn't compatible with the Ipad. I informed them that I had watched many youtube videos stating otherwise, so they weren't any help. i also contacted Apple but understandably, they couldn't get it to work either as they don't know the Samsung device.

    Any help at all would be much appreciated to get the drive to work on my iPad. Many thanks.

    WiFi password incorrect

    Every now and then my iPhone doesn't recognize my WiFi password anymore, says it's incorrect and switches back to 5G. When I reconnect and type my password again, it just works normally for a few days and then magically doesn't recognize the password again. This whole thing repeats itself every few days.

    Does anybody have the same issue or know something to fix this?

    [edit] It could already happen when I dc from the WiFi network and try to reconnect when I am at home.

    Alarm not vibrating anymore

    Hi, the sound of my alarm is set to none, and I only have vibrations set. But since a few days my alarm is not vibrating anymore. Anyone else have the same problem and knows how to fix it? Thanks!

    Issue with email apps, and the standard iOS email app.

    In iOS 14.3, Apple removed a feature that allowed users to keep their emails on their server (which in turn enabled users to access all of their emails on different devices). I am one such user, and am looking to find a fix/replacement. I've tried other email apps such as Spark and Outlook but they didn't have this option either. Any recommendations?
