| Posted: 18 Nov 2020 07:12 PM PST My TV, Apple TV 4K, and sound bar are all linked in that when the Apple TV turns on, it turns the TV on, and when the TV turns on, the sound bar turns on. So anyway, these all turned on and it showed a message that said "[name of my neighbor]s MacBook" with the 4 digit code to connect. He wasn't able to connect because he couldn't see the code, and I'm sure it was an honest mistake, but is there a way to prevent this from happening again? Like a setting where I can prevent any new devices from even trying to AirPlay to my Apple TV? [link] [comments]  |

I think AirPlay works off available wifi but I think Screen Mirroring works different. I know it's not Bluetooth (small bandwidth). | Does CEC volume control really not work without a remote attached? Posted: 18 Nov 2020 05:57 PM PST I recently spilled beer on my Apple TV remote and it died. Whatever, I could still use my phone. And for a while, it worked fine. Now all of a sudden, I can't control my volume over CEC through the phone anymore. Lo and behold, when I check in the settings, it says volume control is disabled, because I don't have a remote attached. Is this fucking serious? It's really going to disable this feature just to make me spend another 80 CAD on a new remote? [link] [comments]  |

I've tried several different iPads and iPhone in the house. It seems it's connected though to the homepods I have connected to the Apple TV. Has anyone else noticed this? Any ideas on a solution? | Posted: 18 Nov 2020 10:14 PM PST Does anyone here ever experience the issue that DD 5.1 output is lagging with Apple TV 4K? Like every time I open Netflix, any kind of steaming app; even Apple Arcade, the audio will lag 2 second before sync with the video. I called Apple support and my TV manufacturer, they think it's the internet issue. But I have over 400 mps.. so I really don't know what is the issue here. The DD 5.1 work fine with the TV's internal system, it's just when I connect to Apple TV, the lagging start to happen.. I know a lot of you might suggest reboot, change audio format like PCM, pass through blah blah. And yes my HDMI is connected to ACR port on the TV. Tried everything Apple support and TCL support provided me. None of them worked.. Here is my TV specification: TCL 55" Series 4 4K TV Model: 50S434 I saw a lot of online post in the thread that people have trouble with audio lagging with Dolby atmos, and I also post other brand TV has issue with DD 5.1 lagging. so I really don't know what to do, anyone here have solution here? Whenever I purchase something off Amazon, the charge is automatically made to my card. However, when I get things on iTunes, sometimes there will be a delay that lasts a few days. | Apple TV Volume Controls Only Working Intermittently Posted: 18 Nov 2020 06:23 PM PST I've recently charged my Apple TV remote, which came with my new Apple TV purchase no more than 2 months ago. Even after being on a charger for several hours, the remote will not accurately change the volume when I push the buttons. Every time I press the volume button(s) I can see the light on the Apple TV flicker on and off, yet for some reason it will not adjust the volume except for at random times. The remote is effective in changing the volume eventually but I'd really like to understand why the receiver is recognizing the volume buttons being pressed but not changing the volume accordingly. | Auto connect to Bluetooth speakers no longer working? Posted: 18 Nov 2020 05:50 PM PST For a while now I've been I've been using Bluetooth speakers for my audio output. It's been great as the Apple TV automatically connects to them whenever I turn it on and they sound way better than my old TVs built in speakers. Unfortunately, the last few days, since an update, it does not connect automatically and I have to go in to settings and connect. To clarify they don't ever need repairing it just doesn't connect on its own. Not sure if maybe a bug in the new update, maybe they've taken away that functionality, or maybe it's a new setting? | Unimpressive to say the least. Tell me otherwise. Posted: 19 Nov 2020 01:52 AM PST I've owned the 2nd Gen, HD, and 4K. It was nice To stream video files from my pc to my Apple TV back then and I was really excited for 4K support and the future of apps on Apple TV. However, Apple TV was plagued by tons of bad apps, no must have games, or no 4K YouTube. Therefore, I decided to sell it. More then year later and I'm into home automation and read that Apple TV under iOS 14 was a great HomeKit hub so once again I bought the Apple TV 4K. To my surprise, there isn't even a HomeKit app like the one found on iPad and iPhone!!! I see the same ol 1 and 2 star rated apps that litter the app store. Even the same old games (asphalt drift) are present and the top selling fireplace app (yawn...). Regarding video quality, my TVs native YouTube and Netflix app still look better than the new Dolby vision enabled stuff. Apple TV+ can't be the only reason why people get this thing right? It's got some good stuff but you can just use the app from your Mac or download it for your tv. I'm Getting ready to return this once more. Please tell me I'm missing out on something here? What reason does one have to get this anymore? What does this have which can't be done via a plugged in MacBook or iPad over AirPlay? [link] [comments]  |

Im using the actual TVs OS and letting my son use the AppleTVHDs because he has my older regular HD TVs in his room & study now. I really want an AppleTV4K for my TVs but it's been 3 years since a new model. I read some code was identified in the latest update for a new model but since the latest Apple roll outs, nothing. I just hate to drop $400 on two 4Ks for my new TVs and a new model drops. I don't think I can wait another year. Does anyone know when Apple is to release a newer model? [link] [comments]  |

Apple TV displayed a notice to switch to 4K Dolby. 4K content displays 1/4 screen in the upper left. I tries 4K HDR and SDR and both did the same 1/4 screen. Ran every diagnostic offered. None of my movies (all of them were purchased in 4k) are playing higher than 1080p, I have a stable internet connection of 60Mbps, and the weird thing is that any 'Apple event' video loads 4k flawlessly, but not my movies. I have barely turned it on in 8 years or so, but ordered a new remote that arrived. I wanted to use Navi-X again to stream free movies and TV as it is wicked good. But I think that Navi-X had to be shut in 2017. I'm wondering if I can now make any use of this unlocked Apple TV 2 and if anyone has advice .. maybe install PopcornTime or .. not sure?
