Help with Macbook Pro 2012, keys not working

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 08:59 PM PST

    Hello all!

After a couple of months of not using my macbook pro 2012, I thought I would use it again.

Whenever I try to login, certain keys are not responding (SDFGHJKL and XCVBNMM).

I tried the SMC reset option multiple times, and now I did a factory reset. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

HELP!!!! My mac is acting up

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 06:33 AM PST

[Macbook pro late 2013 Mojave retina 13 inch manufactured 2014]

So earlier I was playing minecraft (with charger connected) and I swiped screens and was baffled to see I had 24% left. Before I had about 69% and I didnt get how this was happening. So I closed all my programs open and opened out coconut battery and it showed I had 24% as well. I then clicked the battery icon on the top right and it said "mac not charging". So I took charger out and reconnected it and it didn't say it wasn't charging anymore, but my mac's charging wouldn't increase. So I tried restarting my mac, that did nothing. I then tried to search up my problem then swiped and saw I had 0% battery so I disconnected the charger and it instantly died. I plugged it back in and it booted up and was at 30%. I looked in coconut battery and it showed nothing. Everything was blank. I tried a SMC restart, that did nothing either. I then restarted it again and then later on the same thing happened earlier with the 0% thing but now my mac is 36%. I've left it connected for an hour but it won't increase. I've tried looking up stuff but nothing comes up. Coconut battery still shows nothing. Please help, I need this for school and I've got assignments coming up soon and Im not sure what's going on. Help me guys, you're my only hope.

    A way to transfer

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 03:31 PM PST

So I have a 2017 MacBook Pro and I just got an external 2TB drive for storage. The plan was to use this for storage from now on since i always ran low on space with the storage already on here. Since I now had the space I decided to update to Catalina. I've updated but I realized it was installed on the portable storage instead of the Mac HD. Does anyone know of a way to transfer everything back to the Mac HD so I can just use my portable drive as storage exclusively?

Thanks in advance and I hope I'm not overthinking this whole situation.

    Macbook menu bar icon/app help?

    Macbook menu bar icon/app help?

I just bought a new MacBook (went from an air to a pro) and was wondering if anybody new where to download a specific menu bar icon/app. I had it on my air and I can't remember the name but it was super useful to me. It basically tells you how much storage you have on your main disk and any other disks you plug in (like external hard drives and SD cards). I'm pretty sure I downloaded it with my hard drive but I've had to reformat it since then. I'll insert a picture I found hopefully other people know what I'm talking about! Sorry for the awful quality... :)

    Help deciding...

Will a base 16 in. MBP be enough for producing music in Ableton (utilizing cpu heavy vsts and several instances of them as well as high numbers of tracks) and some photo/video editing? Or is it wiser to upgrade the ram to 32 gb?

Bang for the Buck Mac in 2020 to Code with Swift?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 11:24 AM PST

    Hey folks.

I did not really find adequate answers while using google, so I decided to ask here. I am currently in search of a used Macbook to code in Swift on and use it for some light browsing and Text editing. I used a Virtual Maschine for 1 Year now to teach me how to code in Swift and finally it is getting annoying not having a real Mac to code on. So my question is: Which model is still worth to buy in 2020? I am from Germany and I am looking for a used Mac for around 300-400€ (350-460$) but I have absolutely no Clue about Macs because I own an iPad and iPhone and Apple Watch, but only used Windows my entire life as my base computer. So, which Macbook is still the bang for the buck in 2020?

    Thanks in advance.

Big differences in network speed between Macbook and iPhone

    Hi everyone,

I'm a little concern by my MacBook Air 2020 network speeds.

I made two network speed tests, with the same website on the same network at the same distance from my wifi router.

And I've got this for my iPhone X:

    https://preview.redd.it/n9iu898b8mw51.jpg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3f8cd492353be5a786387dd585f43b2465bb496c

And this on my MacBook Air:

How can it be so different? Does anybody encountered the same problem?

    Thanks ;)

Is it safe to use a MacBook charger that got wet

    Posted: 31 Oct 2020 11:50 PM PDT

I have a 2020 MBP and my charger got wet, it fell in a cup of water by accident, I dried it off quickly and I have been letting it dry out... it feels dry. Do you think it's still safe to use? I don't want to damage my MacBook.
