Say, for example, I have a subscription to apple one through my iPhone with iOS 14, but my iMac runs macOS Catalina. Will I still have access to all the content on my Mac even though it's not updated to Big Sur? Or what if I share my subscription through the family plan to someone on iOS13? [link] [comments]  |

I like to be able to write handwritten notes while simultaneously viewing some sort of media, whether it be Netflix, a painting/photograph, or some other thing I just want to react to I guess. In my head, I'm hoping there's a way I could see both screens at once so I'd be able to write while analyzing say filming techniques in a movie or while the movie is actually playing right beside it. | Why are my iCloud backups suddenly over 30 GB (instead of the normal 1 GB)? Posted: 01 Nov 2020 11:17 AM PST Hi guys, So the issue is that my iPhone X and iPad Pro (both on 14.1) backups are suddenly both over 30 GB. Normally they are around 1 GB each. What I already did in an attempt to solve the issue:
When looking in the backup menu where the contents from the backup are listed and I add everything together I come nowhere close to 30 GB. I know that iMessage can take up a lot of space but I checked the local size and it's very small. A small observation: It seems like my devices back up something weird because: Normally the backup size of my iPad is 700 MB. When that's properly done it says that the "next backup size" is around let's say 100 MB (this behavior is normal I guess since it's just uploading new/changed files). But: I just disabled the backup again, deleted it, re-enabled it and did it manually and it was 30 GB again. I then went into the settings and the "next backup size" was the 700 MB. It seems like the 30 GB are something completely weird and not the actual data that should be in the backup (700 MB). Maybe there's a bug and it uploads my photo library (which is around 30 GB and which SHOULD be separate, but who knows what strange bugs can happen)? Sorry for the long post but I wanted to include as many info as I can so it's perhaps easier to track down the issue. I would be very grateful if someone could help me. | Posted: 01 Nov 2020 06:27 PM PST Hi, I realized that my family iCloud of 3 people who don't stay in the same region/country can't get the apple one bundle. I thought if we can't get certain service, it just won't appear but since all of us can't even see the subscription option, I'm guessing that's the problem. Now we're looking for ways to de-couple ourselves. Account 1: 200Gb family plan. Used 50GB in iCloud mail Account 2: no individual plan. Used 40GB in iCloud mail Account 3 : no individual plan. Used 20GB in Icloud mail. Since account 1 is paying but account 2 and 3 wants to decouple and do their own family account in their region, how do they do it without losing their data? I want to guess that account 2 sign up for a family plan. Get account 1 to remove him from his plan and account 3 can join account 2. Does this lose any data if the quota is sufficient? I have a iMac intel 21.5 retina 4k display 2019 a2116 emc 3195 imac 19.2 3.2 ghz running os 10.15.7 I have reinstalled already, I have no updates, I've ran diagnostics, and almost everything I've found to fix and it still keeps happening. In-app icons and text and all other GUI appear much bigger than I would like them to, does anyone know how to go about changing this? I've put screenshots of my Snapchat GUI on my iPhone12 Pro compared to the XR, the 12 Pro having much larger icons and buttons than my XR, I would like to change this to be like my XR. Posted: 01 Nov 2020 09:12 PM PST I just bought a new iPhone for my mom and I noticed that when I view her contact from my phone the 'video' button is greyed out and does not show the FaceTime option. Her iMessage is working and FaceTime is enabled too. I tried to FaceTime her from the FaceTime app and it works, it's just that I cannot FaceTime her from my contacts list. The biggest file I have is my Final Cut Pro Library which is taking up 293 GB. This might be a very stupid question but will deleting this file delete all the original files, too? | iPod can't play YouTube anymore? Posted: 01 Nov 2020 08:29 PM PST So I have a basically ancient iPod touch (5th gen) running IOS 9.3.5 but I still use every once in a while. It used to be able to play YouTube videos and now it can't. Obviously it doesn't support the YouTube app so I just use Safari and now it can't even run that. I load a video, tap it, it tries to play then the video buffers for eternity. Is YouTube gone for good on this thing? [link] [comments]  |
| Apple devices not connecting to home wifi after being used on other networks Posted: 01 Nov 2020 08:18 PM PST This is a weird one. I returned home after a few days away and using friends' networks with my MacBook Air, iPad and iPhone. All of a sudden none of my devices work properly on my home network (wireless home Internet). I've restarted my devices, toggled wifi and restarted the modem/router, but it hasn't made a difference. Meanwhile, my housemates aren't having any issues with their own Apple devices. Would my having used other wifi networks somehow affected the ability to successfully reconnect to my usual network? [link] [comments]  |

To put it simply, it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. It frequently errors and the connection stops. Especially with video services its rather unreliable (i.e YouTube, A&TT streaming). Even worse today, when watching streaming video on airplay, I got some seriously pixelated video sometimes and sometimes not. Does anyone know what's going on. [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 01 Nov 2020 07:53 PM PST EDIT: all the data files are "hidden" originally. so, you'd have to do the shift+CMD+. option and click on Library to see it. I recently had an issue with a corrupted SSD from my 2012 Macbook Pro. However, I was able to recover almost all my data using the "ditto" command in terminal (which will copy over raw files but not the exact image disc). After getting my SSD fixed, I did a clean install of Catalina. I reinstalled Notational Velocity, moved everything from /backupHD/users/redditdave/Library/Application Support/Notational Data/ to the corresponding library on my fixed SSD. I think was in the current folder for the saved data because when you unhide all files, I see a bunch of textedit files with small (KBs) file sizes. As far as I know, these files are not protected/locked. However, even after copying over the data files, I'm unable to see anything in my fresh install of NV. Can anyone with similar experience shine in on this? Obviously, I have some important notes that I need to recover. Thanks y'all. [link] [comments]  |

Posted: 01 Nov 2020 04:03 PM PST Noticed a while ago that I can't delete apps off my iPhone, i hold the app down and click the X and then click delete, but the app just stays there and doesn't go away. So I tried to connect it to iTunes to delete apps that way and the "itunes could not connect because iPhone is locked with a passcode" message comes up which makes me think that iTunes can detect it, but when I enter the passcode, it stops detecting the device.
