Did I make a mistake by buying an intel MacBook Air? Posted: 05 Nov 2020 10:12 PM PST 2 months ago I bought a base model 2020 MBA. It's been working great for me, it's faster than I expected and I am happy with it BUT I heard new MacBooks are coming this month and I heard they will be on a new Apple silicon. Do you think it was a mistake buying a 2020 MBA? Do you think Apple will stop supporting it soon since intel will be a thing of the past? [link] [comments]
MacBook Pro Mid 2010 - What are my options Posted: 05 Nov 2020 10:41 PM PST My MacBook Pro served me well but it's 10 years old now and it's really slow and struggles to open programs right away. It's updated to the latest system available and I've already tried resetting back to factory settings. Is there anything I can do to make it run faster or is it time to move on? If I'm moving on are there sustainable options? [link] [comments]
Help!!! Can you use 2 external screens on a MacBook Air 2016 with one USB-C port? Posted: 05 Nov 2020 06:44 PM PST I have a Macbook Air 2016 with one USB-C Port. I currently have a USB-C Multiport adapter connected to the mac. I have two screens, both are connected to the multiport adapter by HDMI, the screens currently mirror each other. Can you plug another adapter into the USB-C multiport adapter, then to the second screen to separate documents? or is there a software to download that will allow me to use 2 external screens on the mac book air using one USB-C Port? Thank you for the help [link] [comments]

MacBook Pro unbearably slow, taking 30+ minutes to load Posted: 05 Nov 2020 10:35 PM PST 2012 model. It's been slowing down a lot lately but after this last OS update I can barely use it anymore; so slow that it takes sometimes 30+ minutes to start up when I turn it on, I'll be waiting 10-15 minutes with the beach ball of death loading when trying to load a page, very laggy when I try to open new tabs, a lot of apps won't open anymore, etc. Am I screwed? I've had to take it to apple twice for repairments in the last 2 years and I don't wanna keep having to pay for new parts. I have the money to buy a new one but I don't wanna spend that kind of money right now but I'm thinking I might have no choice. What do I do! [link] [comments]
Constant lag and overheating using Safari Posted: 05 Nov 2020 10:09 PM PST I'm using a 2018 MBP. I'm not sure if it's just my laptop or the model of my laptop but using safari on my laptop causes it constantly overheat and lag even when I have less than 10 tabs open... Don't even talk about having more than 10 tabs open, I always see the rainbow cursor every time I open a new tab/switch tabs/switch apps (my music also stops playing or glitches. Did the diagnostic test and it said everything's fine. Is anyone else experiencing this as well? [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Nov 2020 02:58 PM PST Hey so I recently had my MCP 2017 [non-touchbar] fixed which cost me approx $700 to replace the ssd and the logic board. After a month of use the screen started to flicker so I took it in and now they say the this is a separate issue with the screen and that would cost $300 to repair. So I am pretty frustrated and considering scrapping this one and buying the new MCP 2020. What would you suggest? [link] [comments]

Posted: 05 Nov 2020 09:24 AM PST Remember that rumor that said maybe, just maybe one of the new Apple-Silicon MacBooks will be $799? Well, would you prefer the new MacBooks to keep the exactly same design as the current ones, but have Apple's custom chips inside them + have them cheaper... OR, would you rather have the new MacBooks with a complete new re-design along with Apple's custom chips; but have them at the same price? I'm personally leaning towards wanting a new MacBook that's cheaper so it kick-starts the transition by pushing the MacBook towards potential buyers. New re-design can come later (and hopefully it doesn't come with a massive price hike). [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Nov 2020 08:56 AM PST Is there any risk of using Third Part USB-C chargers with my Macbook pro? Specifically, Anker chargers that market themselves as being able to be used with Macbook Pros. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Nov 2020 07:34 AM PST I recently got a job as a software engineer and I am thinking of getting a new computer. I currently have a 2014 Macbook Air. I currently don't have a lot of RAM and it runs hot a good bit. It is slow from time to time but nothing too crazy. I am wondering if it is even worth it to get a new Mac for my new job or continue using this one? Also if I should get a new Mac, which would be the best for programming? [link] [comments]

Is anyones trackpad for macbook pro 2019 not working well and doesn’t have that clicking thing??? Posted: 05 Nov 2020 03:16 AM PST The track pad is moving but not clicking. If i want to move or right click on a file, the options appears but doesn't stay. I've called apple support and we did all the smc, pram and more reset. Then tried to do a diagnostic test, and it came out fine. On the diagnostic page, i was able to click on the trackpad it felt normal 50% . Then when i logged back into the laptop, its back to not working. I do need to upgrade it to catalina cause its still running on mojave... but I don't know what to do. It's exactly a year since i got this laptop 🤦♀️ Edit: Went to system preference and untick tap to click and force click and haptic feedback. And the i could click for a few seconds but then its back to not working again. But when i ticked both option, it was clicking again. Then not working again. I really dont know what to do So right now i unticked the force click and haptic feedback, and its clicking as normal. I did this earlier as well but didn't work long. Now its been a couple of minute and it seems fine. But really would like to know what's wrong with it. I didn't even touch the trackpad setting for a long time. [link] [comments]
Posted: 05 Nov 2020 02:24 AM PST Good day, the one who reads this. So, I'd like to ask a question here, how is that even possible that such a huge company can let itself the omission of a notorious MBP16 dGPU issue with External Monitor plugged in (5300/5500), and the inability to switch Graphic Cards on Windows Bootcamp (without constrains). However, the thing that interests me the most is that the community that uses those products is so passive (just a few forums) and would let Apple repeat their shenanigans in the future.
