    So I moved recently and I haven't gotten around to getting a new appletv device or a new Chromecast at this point. As a result, I am still using this Roku streaming stick from a couple of years ago. I am technically rather savvy, most of the time, but I ran into something I felt was super obvious, yet super cool.

    Having just moved, I had the privilege of going through that age old, time honored rite of passage re-downloading all of the streaming applications, of which there were many, and then the daunting task of reconfiguring forgotten passwords, two factor ID, and logging back into the remaining applications like some sort of primitive being from the Upper Paleolithic.

    So finally after the whole project is well underway, I finally get to the appletv+ app, after all, Ted Lasso isn't going to watch itself, is it? So I get to appletv and I'm ready to login. I've got this, I know my Apple ID and password with 100% certainty. I'm ready to manually type in my username and password, deal with two-factor ID, determine how many motorcycles or fire hydrants are in a particularly grainy photograph, split into nine miniature cubes, like some sort of nightmarish Brady Bunch.

    And then something interesting happened.

    I load the Apple TV app and suddenly a giant QR code appears on my television. Instinctively, I walk up to the TV, launch camera, scan QR code. Boom, engage Face ID on iPhone11 Pro, and hello, appletv+ is logged in on my TV and queue up, something, I don't know yet.

    This to me was so simple and obvious, yet at the same time worked like some sort of Star Trek: The Next Generation shit. Why doesn't every app have this, within reason? Why I am still logging into countless other apps individually and then manually using a shitty remote control to enter usernames and passwords the old fashioned way like some sort of orangutan?

    This ease of use, and the pain in the ass that is sideloading HBOMAX onto other devices, because HBOMAX has yet to get their shit together, is leading me towards scrapping the idea of the chomecastTV and/or Roku, and just going with a new appletv device.

    Is this still happening? I bought a new iphone SE earlier this year and the offer seems to have disappeared out of my settings. Did this just expire? If so has anyone been in the same position and had any luck with customer service to still honor it?

    Trouble pairing bluetooth accessory to Apple TV 4k

    I bought one of these bluetooth adapters to use with my M50x but I am having trouble getting it connected to my Apple TV 4K. In the bluetooth settings the device isn't being discovered at all. I know it's not an issue with the device because I have used it with at least 6 separate devices before. My iPhone and iPad discover and pair with it without any trouble at all.

    Anyone have any idea what might be happening?

    okay so i was watching porn on my phone, as you do. i'm living in shared accommodation for university. i accidentally clicked the share button on my iphone, and the option came up to show it on my roommates apple tv. i was mortified. i didn't actually click the share button but it says it was connecting.

    will she be notified that i've done that???? and of what i was watching??? pls i'm actually shitting bricks. it was an accident. help

    TV Show Upgrade

    I know Apple does movie upgrades to 4K when purchased through them but what about TV series. I'm looking to buy Game of Thrones but they're doing a 4K release in the coming months and I can't find anything if TV shows get upgraded too.

    Adding subtitles on Apple Music video by the community

    First of all I love spend time on Apple Music to watch video content on my Apple because there's no ads like on YouTube.

    YouTube has the most big and amazing content of streaming services but it be ruined by all the ads.

    But a real important functionality are missing on the native app of Apple Music : THE SUBTITLES !

    I'm a French guy, and English is not my maternal tongue. I understand English but the subtitles are very helpful sometimes. Even in English than French it would be helpful. But Apple doesn't add subtitle to the music video. For an example, the interview of the artist, a full concert when the musician talk to public, or simply the subtitles of song on a clip : no subtitles in other languages than english.

    It would be so nice that Apple made a "community app" for add/translate subtitles. Something like Musixmatch or Genius purpose. All that moderate by someone before publishing the result to be sure that the content are safe.

    Oh ! One last thing, @Apple : PLEASE BRING BACK THE VISUALIZER who react with the song (and show the lyrics/subtitles) instead of the timelaps video screensaver...

    How many episodes will the TV app autoplay before stopping?

    Wish they would let us turn this off. Members of my family frequently fall asleep watching TV and autoplay apps can be a pain for them to find their spot

    Not to mention the potential bandwidth or data implications for people on slower connections or caps.

    Thankfully you can usually disable it.

    Showtime Anytime vs Showtime via Amazon

    Right now getting Showtime via Amazon, so all Showtime shows must be viewed through the Amazon Video app. I could get Showtime via YTTV (like I do with HBO Max) and use the Showtime Anytime app instead. The information I am looking for is there any difference in video quality between the two?

    EDIT: I did not mean to imply I would watch Showtime on the YTTV app but subscribe through them, then use the Showtime Anytime app for program viewing. Essentially I am asking if there is any video difference between the Showtime Anytime app and Amazon Prime app.

    I buy all of my customers appletvs from Costco but for the last week they've been out of stock and now they've removed the sign. I wonder if they'll stop selling them or maybe there's a new version on the way. They've been known to sell out their apple items and not re order before new stuff...
