Playing audio through iPad while using sidecar

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 07:45 AM PDT

Is there a way to play my MacBooks audio through my iPads speakers when using sidecar. I tried airfoil which sounded okay with music but the lag was way too annoying for anything else other than music. Both the MacBook and the iPad have good speakers and they sound amazing together ngl

    Video stuttering.

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 08:48 PM PDT

Recently got my first MacBook Air 2020 and I am loving it but... whenever I stream videos (Netflix, Apple TV ETC)there seems to be this annoying stuttering/lag that keeps happening to the video. My wifi is also great. The stuttering also happens right from the start. Does this happen to anyone else and is their a fix.

Will my MacBook with only Windows installed and no macOS still have valid warranty?

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 07:51 PM PDT

The laptop still has warranty and I need to bring it for repair but I don't know if it's still valid and if they'll still repair it even if there is no macOS.

Is there a multi-purpose audio adapter for OnePlus 6 and Macbook Pro?

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 04:52 PM PDT

I recently bought a OnePlus Type-C to 3.5mm adapter adapter in hopes that it would work on my 2017 Macbook Pro as well as my OnePlus 6 so I could permanently keep it on my headphones. I did not read the description and not only does the adapter not work for my phone, I also cannot find a way for my computer to recognize that I want the audio output to be directed to my USB-C port. So... this solution was a complete failure.

Is there a specific adapter that I need to buy that works on both?

Is there a way around OnePlus' specification to this adapter only worker for phones that are newer than mine?

Any ideas or troubleshoots would be appreciated. Thanks!

Help: Macbook air vs Macbook pro

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 03:39 PM PDT

Hi, I am questioning whether the macbook pro base model would be better than my purchase of the macbook air 2020. Im a HS senior planning on heading to college soon, so I would use my laptop for school work, video conferences, etc. but I also want to use it for gaming (minecraft, league of legends, paladins, sims 4) and watching yt on the side. Do you think my current specs can handle these things or should I return my air (got it from costco) and purchase a macbook pro. I listed the information below for the two. I would appreciate any insight! Thanks in advance

    My current MacBook Air:

    Retina, 13-inch, 2020

    Processor: 1.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7

    Memory: Retina, 13-inch, 2020

    Start up Disk: Macintosh HD

Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 1536 MB

    Prospective macbook pro:

    Apple MacBook Pro 13.3" with Touch Bar - 8th Gen Intel Core i5 - 8GB Memory - 256GB SSD - Space Gray

Latest OS update wiped out my Firefox cookies. Anyone else? Easy to fix?

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 12:22 PM PDT

I just got this 2019 MBP 13inch refurbished from Apple.com about 3 weeks ago and had just about all my frequent cookies re-entered. I've been getting the update prompt for a week or two and wasn't needing to use it yesterday so I started the process.

I go to check something and the Firefox icon is a question mark and it's acting like I just downloaded it for the first time. Also, Gmail is my homepage and it's not there. Went to check that and found login information wasn't being auto filled. Then found Reddit also not auto filled.

Most troubling, even though I did the update, it's saying I still have an update. I just checked: I still have Catalina 10.15.5 and the update is 10.15.7

    Mba 2012 stutters when scrolling

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 06:53 AM PDT

My mba 11 inch mid 2012 has lag when scrolling in every browser. I tried Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Edge, Chromium... Itunes is laggy too. Maybe it is normal for such an old processor but macbook is quiet and cpu usage is normal.

I tested el capitan, high sierra, mojave, catalina. The problem is present in every os. It gets smoother after some time.

Why is the same website in same web browser once smooth and after 5 min laggy mess then smooth again?

I want to buy a MBP

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 10:29 AM PDT

But I don't know if I should hold off. Will the next iteration of MBPs with Apple's own chip be more powerful than the current intel ones? If not I might as well buy now.

Replaced the two hinges (cables) on my MacBook air 11” (2015) did I damage something? I also noticed this orange plastic strip connecting the LCD was a bit damaged, could it be possible that this may have caused my screen to look like that?

Besides faster speed and more efficiency, what's the big deal for Apple Silicon?

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 07:30 AM PDT

I understand that these ARM processors are going to be faster and more efficient but besides that what else is going to be a benefit? I'm thinking of buying a new machine and wondering if I should wait, but if it's just going to be slightly faster and more efficient then I don't see a point in waiting.

Is there something I'm missing? I also heard Bootcamp won't be supported anymore so it seems like we're actually also going to be losing out on some stuff...

Original Apple SSD or Samsung Evo 970 pro (both 1TB)?

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 07:05 AM PDT

    Hi!
As I wait for the MacBook ASS (Apple Silicon System), I'm thinking of upgrading my MacBook Pro 13" Early 2015 from 128GB storage up to 1TB...
The question is: In terms of speed and features like encryption which one is better:
Samsung Evo 970 Pro with adapter
    or
Original Apple SSD for the 15"

If you have one of them and can share the speeds you get it would be amazing.

    Thanks.

Macbook 12 inch 2016 for a university student

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 06:18 AM PDT

Hi everyone, i'm a university student and I need to buy a new laptop. I was thinking about buying the 12 inch macbook since it's very small and light and perfect for portability, and i found one for a very reasonable price, good as new for 800 euros, year 2016. I realli like this laptop for its design, size and thinness, it would be perfect for my taste. However I have one concern: is it going to be powerful enough for my usage? I would use it mainly for university, so taking notes, using all the office programs, watching youtube, web browsing with multiple tabs on and netflix. That's basically it. It can be considered a quite light usage but i want it to run smoothly. I learned that the 2017 model is way more powerful, but I only have a deal for the 2016 one. Would it still be good for my needs?

Can a 2020 Pro 13 or 16-inch handle the upcoming “Diablo 4” game?

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 05:27 AM PDT

How about others like "League of Legends" or "Lineage"?

I've got someone wanting to play these games with me and I currently have a 13-inch Pro but want to upgrade to its 2020 model or even a 16-inch one, though I'd prefer the former.

    Thanks.

Will MBA 2020 be able to do my stuff?

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 04:39 AM PDT

I'm going from a beat up old MBP 2015 i5 dual core with 16 gb RAM. It's still quite the workhorse even though the battery is failing and its getting slower bit by bit.

My most important tasks are: writing, surfing the web, editing the odd image in photoshop but most importantly: editing indesign documents from time to time (not really working in them, but fixing typos and stuff). Occasionally opening a huge tiff file to convert it. Basically, I sometimes open files from designers, but do not actually do any design work in them.

Will the MBA 2020 be able to handle this? Or will it feel like a substantial downgrade from my old MBP 2015?

I use apple music and want to airplay iphone to macbook. I know i can remote control macbook music with the apple remote app, but it seems that i cannot TURN ON the music on mac while i can control the music once it is on. Is there a way i can turn on music on mac using iphone using airplay or the remote app? Or maybe shortcuts? The point is that i want to TURN ON the music on mac even if the itunes is not turned on on mac or the mac is sleeping. Thanks.
