My simple THANK YOU to Apple’s iPad team: Last year I decided to make an 11’’ iPad Pro my only machine and since then you’ve been relentlessly upgrading it... The Magic Keyboard is superb and iPadOS 14 a game changer. Warm greets from under the volcanoes, from Rwanda’s Gorilla Highlands.

If you're thinking about getting an iPad, get one

    Posted: 22 Sep 2020 01:48 PM PDT

Hey everyone! I assume lots of people are now thinking of getting an iPad cuz of the recent Apple event. My advice? Get one. Hands down it is one of the best purchases I've ever made.

I'm a student and I have both a computer and ipad (ipad pro 3rd gen 12.9"). I use my computer at my desk usually with the iPad sometimes stationed next to it and I use my iPad basically everywhere else. It's really been helpful for everything from doing assignments to drawing to organizing my schedule, I couldn't imagine going through the year without it.

Not only this but it's super portable (obviously lol). I use it for leisure too when watching YouTube or twitch on the couch which would be harder to do with a laptop I think.

It's really helped me with notes too because of the apps and the pencil. It's really fun to take notes and to draw too. Even if you're not an artist-- if you like art and to draw, I suggest getting it.

Lastly, something I didn't think about when buying it but I know realize, it's really eco-friendly. I've saved probably hundreds of papers using my iPad. Since I use it almost daily, I use what would've been around 2 papers at least a day. This may not sound like much, but I've been using it for around a year, so multiple that by a year give or take a few.

If you're on the fence, take this as a sign to get one!

TLDR: get an iPad, it'll most likely change your life

Thanks for reading to the end :) hope this helps you decide!

Scribble is the best thing ever

    Posted: 22 Sep 2020 08:30 AM PDT

I think this feature is super underated. It changed how I use my iPad so much.

Now I can just use the iPad with pencil and almost never have to drop it until I am done with my iPad. It is so good.

But then, I still have trouble writing f. I cannot write safari right...

Why is there no widget for timer and stopwatch? It would have been very handy to have it available on the screen.

But instead they make a bunch of other options that I have no interest in like IMDB and Siri Suggestions.

Don't get the 2020 iPad Air right now

    Posted: 22 Sep 2020 09:33 AM PDT

So I made a post yesterday talking about the iPad Air vs the iPad Pro and how I would personally go for the Air. Well a lot of people disagreed with me so I decided to look more into it. After checking the prices and what you're missing out on, I don't know why anyone would even consider the Air especially for the price while the Apple Education discount is active still.

Let me put it like this:

    2020 iPad Pro 128gb 11" : $799

    After education discount: $749

After getting rid of the Airpods that come with it : $680 about

You're basically paying $80 more for a ton more features in the iPad Pro. Now once the education discount dies, and there's a $200 difference between the Air and the Pro that's a different story.

Also if you're considering upgrading the storage for the iPad Air to 256gb... keep in mind this is going to cost you $750, only $50 less than the iPad Pro.

If you want to get a new iPad, get the iPad Pro. If the education discount isn't live anymore, then you're going to have to do a bit more research on whether or not you want the 64gb iPad Air or the 128gb iPad Pro.

Also, if you need a 12.9" iPad, well you only have one choice anyway.

I made a video explaining this too if you're interested:

Since iPadOS 14, there is less heat while using Notability (iPad Pro 2018)

    Posted: 22 Sep 2020 07:57 AM PDT

It was unbearable before, to the point of ditching Notability in favor of using Apple Notes. I wonder what others experience.

    OneNote battery drain

    Posted: 22 Sep 2020 07:05 AM PDT

Hi, I use the iPad at High School to replace Books and Notepad for about a year and last year I've founded in OneNote the note-taking app I was looking for: it's cross-platform (I have a windows pc and an android phone), and is good both for keyboard-typed notes and handwritten ones.

Now, this year (after the update to iPadOS 14, don't know if it's related) I started using it after 3 months and I noticed that when I use it my iPad battery drains very fast (more than last year) and this makes it unusable (I have to use it 5 hours in the morning and also some hours in the afternoon without having to charge the iPad)...

So, is it a problem that someone of you encountered too? And how did you solve it? Is there an alternative to OneNote with the features I mentioned before?

    Youtube fullscreen

    Posted: 22 Sep 2020 10:27 AM PDT

Hi ! iPad (classic) have an aspect ratio close to 4:3. So in Youtube, in fullscreen, it doesn't use all the iPad's screen. On iPhone, you can zoom in the video to cover every corner of the screen, isn't it possible on iPad ? Thanks ! (and sorry for bad english)

Don't know if it's a new policy or an error but YouTube video is now a black screen if an external monitor is attached to the iPad.

Looking for iPad/iPhone app to easily gather clips from articles or books

    Posted: 22 Sep 2020 01:37 PM PDT

Looking for an app that helps me gather misc notes or "clips" from reading article. You come across some tidbit you want to remember…you mark it with your Apple pencil, and send it to a clips notebook—via the iOS action menu.

I can only think of a manual process of doing a screenshot, cropping, then adding the JPG to a notebook. So far I've only had it work with the native Notes app on the iPad. I tried sending to Noteshelf app (my favorite notes app), but it says it's not supported. I also use DayOne, but I don't really want to use my journaling app to store this information.

Photo book app that allows for PDF export? (In design on iPad/no vendor lock)

    Posted: 22 Sep 2020 01:09 PM PDT

I really want to use my iPad to create photo books but don't want to be locked into a vendor app for a million reasons.

But I also don't want to create the book on my PC.

So basically I need indesign for iPad with the idea being to create photo books.

Files app freezing with larger files

    Posted: 22 Sep 2020 03:01 AM PDT

Hi fellow iPad users, does anyone have this issue as well? If I try to copy, move or share any larger file (for example a 300 MB video from my dash cam) the Files app gives up and freezes. Sometimes I can still move around but the action I wanted is not done, sometimes it gives up completely. Sometimes it finishes the action after some minutes of being frozen.

Usually even ending the app doesn't help and I have to completely restart the iPad. After the restart it starts working again and I can do what I wanted to in the first place.

I can do most of what I need with the iPad (11' Pro 2018) and it serves me well, but this one thing is keeping me back from using it for even more tasks..

    iPad Pro 2020 (11' inch) Screen Crack(Hairline)

    Posted: 22 Sep 2020 03:37 AM PDT

Hey guys! I bought an iPad Pro 11' inch model on my birthday 23 days back. I was using it very well and listening to classes on it. Everything was fine until I noticed a small hairline crack on the screen. I lost my **** when I saw that. It is invisible and I can manage with the crack on, but will the crack gets worse on daily usage. I hope its the assembly flaw. But then I googled regarding this issue, I found some hope. I need a clarification whether apple will consider my issue as a manufacturing defect and replace it or consider it as Accidental Damage. Here is the image https://imgur.com/a/rYsYtSs

Question re: iPad 8th Generation and Zoom Virtual Background

    Posted: 22 Sep 2020 04:00 AM PDT

Hello - I'm thinking about picking up a new iPad 8th gen, but not sure whether it supports the virtual background with Zoom? (Very necessary in my place - kids toys are everywhere lol). Has anyone tried using the 8th gen with zoom virtual background? Zooms support states iPad Pro and the 5th and 6th generation iPad 9.7, but assuming 8th gen will work as well?? I would hate to pick up the 8th gen and find out virtual background doesn't work. :/

    First time to iPad

    Posted: 22 Sep 2020 04:03 AM PDT

I am getting an iPad which will be my first Apple product.

I would like to get help on the possibilities of external storage via usb-c on iPad os and its limitations

    My primary queries are

    1. Whether a flash drive can be used to share between Android iOS and Windows without any trouble.

    2. If we can play movies directly from the drive

    3. Ability to edit stuff on the drive without copying it onto the device

    4. And info regarding various formats of the drive (NTFS etc.). which I have absolutely no clue of
