You see iOS 14 layouts everywhere but rarely watchOS layouts so here’s mine. Attempted to do a rainbow because why not?

I did an in-store Solo Loop band exchange -- what I learned

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 06:27 AM PDT

Yesterday I went to the Apple Store to do a band exchange from a size 8 to a size 7.

    Here's what I learned:

The stores are still trying to figure out exactly how to do this. Because I bought my watch with time payments over apple card, they had to "re-transact" the entire transaction, which meant, at one point, actually unpairing the watch so that "find my" would no longer be enabled on it. Several times the guy who was helping me, who was great, had to go get permissions from the manager, who seemed happy to give it.

What I'd suggest if you do this:

    - Have some time. It took at least 30 minutes of messing around.

    - Make sure you have your phone (duh) as you may need to show your serial number.

    - Bring the box your watch came in and all paperwork. I didn't have the box and it was a problem that I didn't have the bar code that was on it. Bring everything.

Apple is still figuring out how to do the loop exchanges, though they clearly understand it needs to happen and needs to be easy. But they did do it.

Blood Oxygen Sensor does Not like tattoos.

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 07:25 AM PDT

I believe some of the dot work I have near my wrist is making it challenging for the Blood Oxygen sensor to get a proper reading. It's kind of hit or miss, I noticed if I move my watch down further it reads much better. Apples website does say that tattoos can impact readings, so I'm not complaining. More of an FYI for those who have tattoos and wanted to know if it actually impacts it. My HR sensor is fine but the O2 measuring must need a "clearer" view.

Is there a site that has a library of Live Photos tuned specifically to work for Apple Watch?

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 08:07 AM PDT

I've spent quite a lot of time trying to learn the ins and outs of turning videos and GIFs into live photos for the Apple Watch, but despite the 42-frame and 1-second rules, something still seems to be eluding me as to why some animations function and others fail. I'd love to study other working files to figure out why some live photos work and others don't.

    Series 6 aluminum blue review

    Posted: 24 Sep 2020 05:36 PM PDT

This is simply my first impressions on a guy that went with midnight green last year on the pro. I personally find the iPhone midnight green to be simply the best colour apple has ever done. Personal preference, but I love the complexity of the colour, the fact it looks dark in low light and shifts in colour in different light.

So of course, I ordered the blue Apple Watch.

And my god, it's the same experience. The depth of the colour has it being bright in full light and understated in dark light such as restaurants. When I am out for a run it's vibrant, when I am sitting down to steak it's dark and sleek.

The pictures and YouTube videos do NOT accurately cover the looks of this thing. Nor does the harsh lights in apple stores. Real world it's much darker IMO.

SS Gold Series 6 with sport loop. I bought it with the Gold Milanese band but for casual wear I love this sport loop I already had for my series 4 paired with the animated giraffe face!

How do I stop my live wallpapers from zooming in at the end? Have I done something wrong?

For those that were on a 42mm watch (if upgrading from something like a series 3 or older), how many of you opted to go 40mm instead of 44 for your series 6 or SE?

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 07:00 AM PDT

I'm quite curious about that, as I compared the size between the 42mm case and 40mm case, and found that despite technically being a smaller case size, the screen actually ends up having a good bit more real estate thanks to how they redesigned it for the series 4 onward. I don't have the biggest wrists around, so because of that I felt like the 44mm case would have been gigantic on it, and to my surprise opting for the 40mm case for me SE was perfect in my case!

What say you, fellow pre-series 4 upgraders?
