    Is there anyway to actually block ads on YouTube on Apple TV without paying for premium?

    I watch quite a bit of YouTube but I am noticing more and more ads for example always 3 ads with the first 5 mins of videos and generally another 2-3 ads for the remaining video and also one more at the end.

    It's getting fucking stupid now.

    Storage on ATV

    We have the latest 32GB Apple TV with 5-6 apps (news, Prime, etc.) installed that take up 500-600MB.

    When I try to copy over stuff to VLC, less than 5GB, it tells me I'm out of storage space, which simply shouldn't be the case.

    Is there a way of purging cache and other stuff that's filling the ATV unnecessarily?

    AppleTV 4k with tvOS 14 Airplay disconnect

    Has anyone experienced Airplay disconnecting abruptly when playing web-based videos from MacOS devices? Never had this issue with 13.7, but 14 and 14.0.1 are dropping connection repeatedly.

    Control volume from Apple Watch

    Hi all,

    I'm unable to control the volume of the Apple TV via the Now Playing app on my Apple Watch. When I twist the crown it looks like it's trying the change the volume, but nothing happens.

    Edit: I have no problem controlling the volume from the Apple TV remote and via the digital remote in control centre on my phone.

    I am working with a symphony group. Their audience members are older and generally not very tech savvy. Is there any way for Patreon patrons to watch private videos on set-top devices like the AppleTV device WITHOUT casting or HDMI connections from computer to tv?

    The group is a Vimeo Pro member, but would happily switch to another platform.

    3rd Gen Apple TV Freezing

    Hey all, would anyone be able to help me out? I have a 3rd Gen Apple TV. It was working great up until a few nights ago, when it froze for the first time when I paused the video on the YouTube app I was watching. So I unplugged it because holding down the menu buttons wasn't working at all. When it restarted, it loaded like usual to the main screen, but my remote wasn't working at all. So, I unplugged it again, this time I kept it unplugged overnight. The next day I tried everything from resetting it via my laptop and iTunes to switching the battery in the remote. At first it seemed like resetting it worked, but tonight I have run into the same issue. Netflix works fine, I believe Prime does as well, but YouTube freezes anytime I pause a video. It also sometimes becomes unresponsive to the remote after the screen saver comes on, but will respond when I use the remote app on my phone.

    Any suggestions how to fix the problem? I am not really in the market for a new Apple TV at the moment or I would just buy a new one, but if I can get some more life out of the one I have now I'd prefer that.

    Hi, I'm a new Apple TV 4k owner. I'm middle aged and no longer a serious gamer, but have had a couple consoles in the past - Dreamcast before many of you were born, and Xbox 360 later. I'm not really into arcade style games except for the classics I remember from my youth in the 70s and 80s. However, I really enjoyed playing long format games like the Half-Life series, BioShock, and Fallout 3.

    I bought the Apple TV last week for the TV and music features, and only later remembered it can play games. But I know nothing about that feature. Is it any good as a game console? I don't mind spending the money to buy a real game controller and games, but don't even know if the system supports any of the kind of immersive games I used to play in the past. Are the big game designers porting games to Apple TV?

    It's a 3rd gen and currently on version 7.6. I want to downgrade to version 7.5 but can't figure out how. I saw on the Apple forums this is a common problem and people are downgrading back to the previous update. Somebody provided a link with the instructions but a mod removed it. I apologize if it's already on this sub, i searched but didn't find it. Can anybody help?

    I am looking on getting an older A1469 used Apple TV to mirror my iPad on projectors on the go.

    I've been using a Chromecast and a TP-Link travel router for that instead up to now, but if possible want something more reliable, that doesn't have me connecting two different devices.

    I am wondering if it will do a good job mirroring without any headaches or if a newer Apple TV would be better or the same for my purpose.

    Is it worth spending 3 times more for mirroring an iPad without WiFi?

    Is there a chance an older Apple TV will just stop working in the future?

    Odd behavior when adding a second profile

    I've had the Apple TV 4K for a few months, but recently my wife switched to an iPhone so I decided to add her to my 'Home' and thereby giving her a profile on the TV.

    A few days after doing this, the Apple TV app started using her history instead of mine, despite never actually switching to her profile.

    I'm listed as the default user, but it seems like it's treating her's like it is. I can try to switch to her profile and then back to mine, but the Apple TV app sometimes will switch to my history, but most of the time it just stays on her's.

    It wouldn't let me remove her profile from the TV stating that it's the default user, despite it saying I am on the menu.

    I ended up having to remove her from my 'Home' via her phone and then remove and add my profile back to the Apple TV before it showed my history in the Apple TV app.

    Is this a known issue? Should I just not worry about adding her?

    When I went to the app it says free sub b/c of my new mac. Haven't bought a computer in 2 years. And I've already used my free trial months ago too. Makes no sense

    I am looking into getting an Apple TV. I would like to know if it's possible to play a video from Safari by casting it to the Apple TV and then I can switch application and do other things or even just lock the phone while watching on the TV?

    I don't know if it could work like that because the TV completely relies on the phone for the content obviously, but as they are both Apple devices, surely this pairing would allow the content to be streamed without always having the phone turned on and in the Safari tab as they are both first party devices?
