How can I prevent apps from entering the list of automatically open on startup?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 07:52 PM PDT

I ALREADY KNOW that if I want or don't want an app to automatically open on startup, I can edit the list of app in Users & Groups in Preferences.

However, there are some apps that always automatically ENTER that list no matter how many times I remove them from the list, such as Android Transfer app. Please watch the video below to understand what I mean.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL5LtZeo55g

My question: How can I prevent apps from enter the list? In other word, how can I configure it so that ONLY ME going to Preferences => Users & Groups to MANUALLY add apps to the list and COMPLETELY STOP all of other ways to add apps to the list. No programmatically, no popup asking to enter the list. ONLY AND ONLY when I manually open the list and edit it myself.

    Thanks

    Macbook Pro Fan Issue

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 11:47 PM PDT

Hello everyone. So I've a macbook Pro 13 inch 2016 edition and I was noticing that my fan was making a noise whenever I was doing something extensive on my laptop and sometime rarely when I was doing not so heavy task. I had been running hardware test before but it did never pick up any hardware issues, but I just out of habit made another hardware test today and it showed 'there might be a issue with your fan'.

So my question is whether I can ignore this issue for a bit or is there any solution which I can perform to troubleshoot this as the covid situation in my city is not so good and I can't really risk anything if this issue isn't so severe. Also, I've been giving a lot of online test these days so I cannot even stop using it for some days.

So can someone recommend whether I should ignore my fan issue for a while or whether I should go for a service soon.

    Thanks in advance everyone!

    Monosnap app alternative?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 10:52 PM PDT

Hey, I've used this app for a long time, recently I did a screenshot of Notion app and got my account blocked and now they say I have to pay because it's commercial use, when I've always used it just for personal use... 🤦‍♂️ (I even have free personal student plan in Notion btw).

Any good app that works well and doesn't analyze your behavior? And one from developers that aren't greedy?

    MacBook Pro 2019 battery calibration

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 06:34 PM PDT

So I have my mbp 2019 for a couple of months now, and people are telling me I should calibrate the battery once in a while. Should I do the old calibrating process where I have to wait 2 hours after charging it completely, then drain the battery and wait 5 more hours before charging it again to 100% or just drain the battery until it turns off and charge it to 100%? According to Lifewire, I don't need to do the old one, but I just wanna be sure. https://www.lifewire.com/calibrate-macbook-air-battery-2260856

Have I perhaps damaged my MacBook?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 04:29 PM PDT

Might just be me over worrying but I just finished washing my hands, I was in a hurry so I didn't dry them and as I went to pick up my MacBook Air (2015-2017 model).. some water poured down from my hand onto the trackpad right in the border with the rest of the Mac's body. Well I wiped whatever water I could from the surfaces with paper towel after 30 seconds (just when I noticed), but I'm sure a good heavy drops of water definetely went inside through the gap between the trackpad and the rest of the body. MacBook works fine yet (it's been about 30 hours, even though I know it takes weeks for corrosion to occur .. also I haven't plugged it into the charger yet). My question is .. I've checked online that underneath the trackpad there is the battery and nothing else, or other stuff like motherboard etc are found far from where the trackpad is. What are my chances of having caused permanent damage to my MacBook? I'm a musician and I have years worth of projects on my computer, I really can't afford to lose them. Am I just over worrying?

Over the last few days my Macbook Air 2020 audio has suddenly halved (not as loud). Today it just didn't work at all. It always fixes after restarting but I don't want to have to restart my Mac so often. Does anyone know what's wrong?

Hey Im really on a budget and Ive been able to negotiate both laptops down to very similar cheap prices from the sellers Im dealing with. Im having trouble on which one to pick for classes. Which one would you pick if you were in my position?

The Macbook 13 inch 2015 model is an 8gb ram 1.6 ghz processor

    2019 Macbook Pro Won't Start

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 02:10 PM PDT

Hello,I'm facing a weird issue with my 2019 Macbook Pro. The screen stays black when I start it. The screen only works when it goes into Password reset mode and the unlock startup disk. After the password reset or unlock startup disk, it goes black again. What I have tried already:- It won't go into recovery mode- It won't start in safe mode- SMC reset made no difference

Appointment at Apple store is in a week so any help would be highly appreciated.

Edit: I tried this and it worked.

Leaf inside 2010 Macbook pro hard drive

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 09:10 AM PDT

So i opened my 2010 macbook pro for the first time ever. yes, ever. I wanted to clean the fan as i heard that would make it faster.

So i found a leaf inside the hard drive??? it's like fully under the sealed thing, and its 100% the original hard drive. you can see the date of manufacture August 2010.

Do you think I could somehow swindle this into getting a new macbook? would there be any grounds at all? tbh its run completely fine for 10 years now, if a little slow.

Not Enough Space to Empty Trash

    Posted: 01 Sep 2020 07:50 AM PDT

Hey everyone, I've got tons of stuff I need to complete today and I opened up my Mac to find the disk storage was full.

SPECS: 2016 MacBook Pro Retina display. - 250 GB storage - 16 GB memory - 2.6 GHz core

I've had this happen before and recently I've been keeping an eye on my space after clearing it with CleanMyMac X but it's been steadily filling up since then a couple months ago. It fluctuated the past week between 21 free Gb to 17 GB but I woke up today to having 1.2 GB free.

Biggest problem was I can't even empty my trash or move items into my trash. I tried some of the methods online like restarting my computer in safe mode but this didn't seem to help or I didn't do it correctly, i'm not sure. I had an Apple rep get mad at me for setting my computer in safe mode too. Any suggestions?

Why do I feel like CleanMyMac made it so my computer spontaneously fills up its storage right as I'm thinking of a new one oh man.
