PSA: If your lightning port was exposed to moisture and won't charge, use Deoxit Posted: 04 Aug 2020 02:00 PM PDT If your Apple product wont charge not matter what cable you are using, and especially if you see black marks on your charging cables' contacts, then you might have corrosion on the contacts inside your lightning port. First turn off your device. Then clean out any debris from the port with a toothpick or a plastic pick. Then apply Deoxit D5 to the port and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Then wrap a small piece of cotton around your pick and gently rub the contacts in your port with it. Then reapply Deoxit to the port and then plug in and remove a lightning cable into and out of it about 15 times. Let the phone dry (unplugged and still turned off) for 10 minutes, then try charging it. You can also get rid of those black spots on charging cables using Deoxit and a toothpick and q-tip. I have no affiliation with Deoxit, but that contact cleaner fixed my iPhone's intermittent charging issues and revived some of my old oxidized cables. [link] [comments] | ||
