| Updated iPhone and now it won't turn on Posted: 08 Aug 2020 08:06 PM PDT Pretty much the title. Tried to update an iPhone 11 and it went into recovery mode. It went through that and I entered my code. Still froze so I tried to shut off/on. It won't turn back on from this point. Is there anything else I can do from this stand point or do I have to contact my service/apple? Thanks in advance Update: Phone turned back on after a reset but won't connect to anything. | Wifi not working for specific wifi connection Posted: 08 Aug 2020 07:10 PM PDT Sorry for the block of text ahead! For a bit of context, I have a Macbook 12 inch 2017 base model and had no connection problems (or any) until now. I also have Norton (I know, please don't kill me in the comments) installed for the past 3 months. My usual wifi connection (the one I've been using ever since getting the laptop) has not been connecting to my Macbook as of a several hours ago. This happened soon after supposedly clicking "deny" (even though I swear I clicked "accept"?) when Norton asked whether to accept or deny the connection for rapportd. After that, only that specific wifi connection does not work. The router has no problem (it connects to every other device in my household) and my computer has no problem (I'm able to connect to the internet with my hotspot no problem). The wifi connection still shows up but apparently it is using a Mac-designated IP address since it cannot connect to the router. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Norton, forgetting the specific wifi connection, trying to make a new location in system preferences, resetting the data, etc (basically looking throughout Reddit and the internet to no avail, all the advice wasn't helpful). I am worried that this will continue and I desperately need this computer and this connection for online classes (as I am a student taking mostly online classes remotely and my hotspot is limited). I found my old mini in my closet and after some research found out that it's quite the little machine even today! I'm looking to get RAM from Best Buy specifically since I have gift cards. It was recommended that I look for a 1600 MHz DDR3 specifically. I found this one. Would buying two of them work? Posted: 08 Aug 2020 09:16 PM PDT I have a 2013 MacBook Pro and with both the trackpad and external mouse, I can move the pointer. I cannot click at all with the trackpad. With the wired mouse, I can move the pointer and can click things with the right button. The left mouse button does nothing. It is asking to sign into iCloud and it will not let me dismiss the window OR let me click in the blank to enter my password. This iCloud window is stuck in front of all other windows and nothing I do will make it go away. I have reset the PRAM and the SMC and it has not resolved the issue. [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 08 Aug 2020 05:01 PM PDT So I was trying to install windows and it was being dumb. Something about GPT to MBR. So I thought I selected the partition I made and ended up accidentally wiping my SSD. I did make a backup on an external drive thankfully so I'm not very concerned about data loss. My main issue is that when I restarted my Mac I got a folder with a question mark and I have absolutely no idea what to do now. I'm on a Early 2011 MacBook Pro. I was previously running High Sierra. Btw. If anyone can give me advice on how to fix "Windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT style" while trying to install windows I'd be eternally grateful. | Posted: 08 Aug 2020 08:20 PM PDT Hello all, I have a curious issue with my AppleTV (current gen running latest OS). I have It hooked up to a Sony PlayStation monitor and for whatever reason it will only power on my tv when I press the remote button a few times before it begins to only power on the AppleTV box. It doesn't allow me to adjust the tv volume, which is fine i can use another remote to do that. But i was wondering if anyone has seen this before and if they had any input as to why it only powers on the display a few times before it has to be powered on separately from the box. (For the record it turns off the tv as well when the box is put into sleep mode) TIA for any input you may have. [link] [comments]  |

When I log into my iCloud and try to restore my contacts, it says there are no archives available. But when I type the name of the contact I want to restore into the search bar of my iPhone, the contact shows (picture in the comments). What kind of data extraction advancements has law enforcement been able to make since 2017, the year Apple denied access to the data of its users devices despite search warrants which included that of the San Bernardo school shooters iPhone? Have laws or digital privacy changed? Does anyone have resources I can utilize to further indulge my curiosity & learn accurate information about our current data extraction tech & updated digital privacy rights in the US etc.? When you ask Google, everyone has a different answer- we all now theres a lot of bull spread on the internet! Last I heard the FBI was first thrift it out in court to gain access to any & all users data but wasn't sure if they won? Is Apple sticking to their original privacy policies regarding devices? I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist but I believe that when it's the government- they have the technology to get into whatever they want to... If hackers can do it, I personally believe the government can too & that the problem lies with submitting the infomationnin court, I could he wrong. If anyone knows otherwise, I'd love to hear! For example do they have a specific software like maybe a code cracking device to unlock the phone? Even possibly something like a data extraction device they plug into the phone which tricks it into "trusting" the source or even the plain old calling on Apple for a copy of the user's data stored in iCloud? What does actual privacy look like in 2020? Are iPhone users actually as protected & secure as Apple has claimed prior we were, now in 2020?
