Is it possible to have wireless charging, a phone case, and the ability to mount to a magnetic holder all at the same? Or do you have to pick between a mount and wireless charging because of the metal plate blocking wireless charging?

    iPhone XS Battery life

    Posted: 27 Jul 2020 02:02 AM PDT

    Hi,

I'm about to make a switch from Android to iOS. I'll probably wait till the presentation of the new iPhones, but what I've gathered from leaks, phones might end up being somewhat dissapointing. So, have been wandering about other iPhones from previous gens as a possible alternatives.

Right now my top choice is iPhone XR (don't know if iPhone 11 is worth it, considering price difference) and then is iPhone XS (mainly because of 3D Touch).

    My question is:

What's your SOT with iPhone XS and your battery condition?

    Thanks

Is it worth buying one? Or a dual pad like the one from choetech. Or should I wait for the AirPower in autumn?

    Morning the return to mono

    Posted: 27 Jul 2020 08:55 AM PDT

I have air pod pros which seem to not be able to handle stereo sound, no separation. I have tried the converter on my Bose headphones which have the same problem. I check the separation using the same file on my iPad Pro with the headphone jack.test stereo link Which test out fine wit subtle stereo highlights.

Is there a brand dongle (Or whatever the thing that converts the charge port to a headphone jack.) that can actually handle stereo sound files? I have tried two, one that came with the first model of iPhone w/o a earphone jack and one made by Magnavox. Neither seem to be able to handle stereo separation.

Are News+ Audio Stories available in Canada?

    Posted: 27 Jul 2020 07:55 AM PDT

I couldn't find an easy answer to this by just searching, and I'm running the iOS 14 public beta that I don't think has the audio tab implementation at all.

Can any Canadians running iOS 13.6 confirm if it is or isn't available in Canada? I'm really hoping it is, it would make the News+ subscription actually something I'd consider paying for.

If the audio stories aren't available, at least we still have Apple News Today which is free for everyone in the Podcasts app.

    [concept] Multiple call screen

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 10:44 AM PDT

It seems like a lot of people are stressing over the multiple call screen on iOS. The problem with the current implementation is having one screen to display multiple calls with confusing icons, so I have decided to tackle the problem with a simple card-based UI.

    Current layout:

    • End & Accept: end current call and attend incoming call.
    • Decline: decline incoming call.
    • Hold & Accept: hold current call and accept incoming call.

    Idea:

    • Decline: decline incoming call.
    • Send to Voicemail: send incoming call directly to voicemail.
    • Accept: attend incoming call; put current call on hold until person disconnects. Acts like end + hold call.
    • (X): ignore incoming call; back to current call page.

Can a bad battery/port break a charging cord?

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 04:03 PM PDT

I have a used iPhone 7 and since quarantine i have been unable to fix its really low battery capacity, and ive noticed that all my chargers keep going back and forth with choosing to charge and not, even to the point where i got a brand new (apple brand) charger and within a week it started to do the same thing, and an extra week later and i can barely use it unless i hold it in a good position. Ive taken amazing care of the wires and there is no visible damage to them, they also choose to not work (although they work a little better) on other phones, which makes me think that my phone is doing part of it and also breaking the wire. Is it possible/common for the phone to break the wire?

PS. Yes i keep the port clean
