Balancing Durability with Cost - Sapphire Glass? Case? Posted: 26 Jul 2020 03:14 AM PDT I had a Series 3 aluminium for less than a year before I smashed it on a door frame. I then switched back to normal watches for durability and battery life - I've never broken or scratched the (sapphire) face of any other watch. I will definitely upgrade every year or two, so keeping the watch in good condition is important. I also have a job that may involve it taking a hit. I still haven't seen a case that isn't ugly and plasticky except Lunatik, but reviews seem poor. I would pay a lot of money for a metal bumper case that compatibility with normal bands. Is there a good case I've missed? What's the best option in terms of durability and cost if you expect to smash it once or twice a year? I was thinking stainless steel for the sapphire face, but is that substantially better for knocks? Should I get the aluminium one and use the savings on insurance premiums or AppleCare? Does anyone know how Apple Watch saves exercise sessions? Posted: 26 Jul 2020 08:06 AM PDT Garmin recently (allegedly) got hit by a ransomware attack and thanks to its online-first approach, users are unable to see past sessions. As a Garmin user, I'm now willing to do away with some metrics in order to prioritize on ease of data access. When I had an Apple Watch, I rarely used it to log exercises other than tracking and filling the daily move ring. IIRC, you can back up that data via iCloud or a secure iTunes backup, and at the same time, the data also stays on the phone for offline perusal. Does that still hold true now? [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Jul 2020 07:53 AM PDT i need your help: i'm doing competitions with some people and so far everything has worked fine, but my apple watch stopped counting points today. i've had 76 points for almost two hours now, even though i did a 70 min workout and burned 500 cal. has anyone ever hast the same problem or can help me? My fitness pal + apple watch 5 Posted: 26 Jul 2020 05:54 AM PDT I wanted to point one or two things because although I'm new here I understand the long time members are tired of the same posts. -i searched "my fitness pal" and see a lot of much older posts presumably about the aw3, aw4 -I don't have the AW5, yet. So this may be an unnecessary/preemptive question but it's very important to me so here goes I am logging my food intake into MFP and my iphone automatically adds my steps to the app as well. It's helping me lose some weight I can't seem to let go of. Does the AW5 sync to this app really well? I read in a post a few days ago about changing in your settings "prioritizing" your watch's calculated steps vs your iphone, so I know that feature at least. Specifically, does anyone have experience with the aw5 + mfp? Secondly, I am nervous to spend so much on my first ever watch but buying the 3 right now just doesn't seem worth it to me (I know the 6 is coming out but I'm not interested). I am just really hoping this watch helps me get moving more in the day. Does anyone here have any success stories/seen any results from using the watch as a source of accountability and motivation? Sorry for the novel, I'm still half asleep. [link] [comments]

How to stop Apple Watch Alarm vibration from stopping when putting hand over it? Posted: 25 Jul 2020 06:02 PM PDT I've been trying to figure out how to fix this for a long time. I love the Apple Watch, specifically for the silent alarm and how good it wakes me up, except for one problem. Every now and then I'll accidentally put my hand/arm or whatever body part is close to my watch over the face and the vibration will stop while I'm still asleep. This would be fine, because I set multiple alarms for every 30 minutes but it stops the future alarms from vibrating because the old one is still "going off". I'll wake up late, then see my alarm is going off with no vibration and have to click "Stop" on 3 different alarms and realize I woke up an hour and a half late. It's the only thing that bothers me about the Apple Watch and wondering if there is any fix for this or if they even know this is a problem? I've turned off the Cover to Mute feature, since that's the only recommendation I've gotten and that hasn't helped. [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Jul 2020 07:04 PM PDT During workouts, I like to have my AW's Always On activated. And then after workouts, I deactivate it to save on battery. I feel like this could have been the main reason behind this feature. Anyway, it'd be nice if the Settings App had a complication of its own for quicker access to these settings. Anybody have thoughts or arguments about this idea? [link] [comments] |
