Can't get into my new Iphone 8 Posted: 24 Jul 2020 05:12 AM PDT So yesterday I bought second hand Iphone 8. It was on Ios 12 so I updated it to Ios 13. When the phone finished updating I had to set it up. There was an activation lock. The previous owner had told me that she cleaned the Iphone. When I asked her what was her Apple ID and password, she told me that she deleted her Apple ID because she bought a Samsung. What do I do in this situation? Did I just spent all of my saved up money for nothing? [link] [comments] |
Apple TV: This monitor does not support HDR playback Posted: 24 Jul 2020 09:11 PM PDT I rented and downloaded a movie tonight though Apple TV. When I connected my MacBook to my projector via HDMI and attempted to play the movie, I got the error message above. I tried again with a Samsung TV instead of the projector and got the same message. I even attempted to reinstall MacOS, but that didn't resolve the issue. I'm using a brand new MacBook Pro 13 inch with the latest version of MacOS. My MacBook has no problems playing Netflix, HBO, etc. through HDMI on Chrome (although I have problems when I try Safari instead). What's going on and how do I resolve this issue? [link] [comments] |
This webpage was reloaded because problem occurred Posted: 24 Jul 2020 09:05 PM PDT Hey I keep getting this error message about every 10 minutes when watching Netflix on my MacBook Pro 13" 2020 version. I'm watching a movie on Netflix on safari. Is safari causing the issue when trying to play Netflix? It also keeps reloading and freezing the screen but the audio keeps playing in background [link] [comments] |

Is now a bad time to buy a new MacBook Pro given the processor situation at Apple? Posted: 24 Jul 2020 08:46 PM PDT I heard Apple is transitioning to using their own in house processors in their computers as opposed to the current Intel processors. This means that developers will transition towards optimizing programs that utilize the new Apple processors. I was planning on buying a new MacBook Pro ASAP that I use for pretty intensive stuff, including editing 4K video with Final Cut Pro and After Effects, as well as music recording in Logic Pro in my home studio. Is it a bad time to buy a new MacBook Pro? Should I wait for the new generation with the new processors? I plan on keeping and using the computer for the next 5+ years so I'm trying to look ahead as it will end up being a $2,000 investment and I wanna stay up to date as long as possible. My current MacBook Pro is a 2015 model so I'm itching to upgrade. Thanks for checking out my post, I'd appreciate some insight [link] [comments] |
Transferring text messages to new phone Posted: 24 Jul 2020 04:54 PM PDT Asking for my dad: He currently has an iPhone6 and just got a new 6s. He's got all the cloud options setup properly but wants to know if his text messages will transfer automatically from the old phone to the new. Thanks [link] [comments] |

My mom's iPhone 8 stopped working Posted: 24 Jul 2020 04:25 PM PDT Here is what happened: My mom called me and said: "My phone won't turn on it is stuck on the Apple logo". She tried to restart it. She tried to charge it. Nothing. Recently, I helped her back up all her photos and videos to Amazon Photos but she had not deleted them off her phone. The phone was at 99% capacity. I suspect that the phone has filled up to a point where it can no longer function. I took the phone and connected it to my mac and it was recognized but said I needed to update the software version or restore it (AKA wipe it clean). If I could just delete a couple of GB of backed up pics I think everything would be fine but I can't get access to any files. After the failed software update, it is stuck on the screen showing a USB cord connected to a computer but it is not connected to anything. Any help would be appreciated!!!! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 24 Jul 2020 08:09 PM PDT I bought the newest base model Macbook and have noticed that the fans/temp get much louder and hotter than my previous macbook late 2013. I am running two non 4k external monitors and one flickers atleast 5 times an minute. any help with what the issue might be? [link] [comments] |
Will turning off iCloud on my new iPad delete any data that is in the cloud from my iPhone? Posted: 24 Jul 2020 08:07 PM PDT If I turn off iCloud on my new iPad, will it delete any of the information already in the cloud from my phone? Or does it just remove the iCloud data from my iPad? I basically only need the data on my phone to be synced to my iCloud account and not my iPad. So by disabling iCloud on the iPad, does this achieve my goal? [link] [comments] |
How do I create a folder in the favorites/sidebar area? Posted: 24 Jul 2020 01:48 PM PDT Hello, I recently got a MacBook Pro and I'm still getting used to the OS after being a windows user for 30 years. My question is, how do I create a folder in the favorites/sidebar area? Okay so here is my problem, I click on the Documents tab and create a new folder. I then drag that new folder to the sidebar and it shows up in the sidebar, that is what I want. However, the new folder still shows up in the Documents tab, I just want the new folder in one location (the favorites/sidebar area) not in the documents and in the sidebar. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Jul 2020 07:27 PM PDT Sorry for the repost but I have never had this happen before the iOS 13.6 update I went to settings, then battery and saw that it said I used Siri. Then I found the hour it said I used siri and the only other apps I used at the time were App Store, settings, and home screen. Also I don't have "hey Siri" on. It it normal, I haven't noticed this since I updated my iOS to 13.6 5 days ago. If anyone can explain why it say this I would be very thankful. [link] [comments] |
All Apple HomeKit Devices Turned Off Simultaneously without User Input (or Automation) Posted: 24 Jul 2020 07:22 PM PDT I suddenly found myself sitting the dark when all my lights turned off seemingly of their own accord. I have two lamps on Wemo Mini Smart Plugs, so I can't be sure if it's an Apple HomeKit or a Wemo issue. My first worry was that my network had been hacked. My Apple ID and Apple devices are secure, but I don't know how secure the smart plugs are. I checked the Wemo app, but it didn't provide many clues. The one thing that may be significant is an error message saying to check my network connection because it the app cannot reach the Wemo Cloud (my network is definitely connected to the internet). The app is also prompting me to sign up for an account, which I thought that I had already done, though perhaps not. Anyway, I turned all the lights back on, and the incident has not repeated itself thus far. Any ideas what might have happened? [link] [comments] |
My keychain doesn't show my xfinitywifi nor its password Posted: 24 Jul 2020 06:52 PM PDT My xfinitywifi works just fine, but I'm trying to find the password so i can use it on other devices. Keychain doesn't have it listed, but I connect easily to it. Help? [link] [comments] |
How to see folder size in Files app on iPad? Posted: 24 Jul 2020 06:51 PM PDT I use iCloud Drive with several apps on my iPad, and am trying to see the sizes of my various folders in the Files app. I can sort them by size by pulling down the sort options view, but I can't figure out how to see the size of each folder. Please help me avoid walking upstairs to look on my laptop! [link] [comments] |
Is it possible for someone to hack your phone and delete all your pictures? Posted: 24 Jul 2020 06:46 PM PDT My friend has said some dumb shit on Instagram and now claims someone hacked his account and said it, not him. He sent me a screenshot of one of those "Your account was logged into" messages that IG sends you. The thing is though, it was conveniently cropped to hide the date. I was suspicious that he may have gotten the picture off the internet. I asked him for the uncropped image and he was like "Yeah hold on" Some time passed by and then he messaged me saying that his entire photo gallery was deleted and that it must have been the hacker. When I asked him for a screenshot of his gallery, he didn't respond for like 10 minutes (most likely clearing his photo gallery) and sent me the screenshot of his empty photo gallery. It's quite obvious that my friend is full of shit, but in the almost 0% chance he is telling the truth, can a hacker actually do this? [link] [comments] |

Logitech Crayon Firmware Update Not Detecting Device Posted: 24 Jul 2020 05:53 PM PDT I got a LC for my 7th gen iPad, first time. Only thing is, it doesn't work at all. A green light comes on for a second, but that's it. I've never had any stylus paired with the iPad before. I let it charge for at least an hour. The most odd thing is I connected it to my MacBook to update the firmware and it can't find the pen. I've tried a couple of different cords and USB ports, with no success. Is this just a dud? Generaly info questions on 2015 MBP upgrade via M.2 SSD and speed Posted: 24 Jul 2020 05:32 PM PDT I've never worked with these new-fangled gum stick drives before, but I inherited a 500GB M.2 drive from a friend who's doing his own upgrades. I got an adapter that appears to be compatible. Here are my questions (assuming the basics work out): 1) I understand that these can be faster than the stock PCI drives, but practically speaking, how much faster can I expect? I took my old 2011 MBP from HDD to SDD and it screamed, will I see this kind of dramatic improvement? 2) I plan to migrate my data by restoring from a Time Machine backup. For restoring a 256GB drive, will this be the fastest way to migrate, or would I be better off cloning via USB? Thank you, so swamis of MacBooks. [link] [comments] |
2018 MBP sticky keyboard issues once again after top case replacement Posted: 24 Jul 2020 01:44 PM PDT Hi all, so back when I bought my 2018 MBP, I started getting keyboard issues after about 1 yr. I then took it to the Apple store and they replaced the entire top case. Since then, I have been getting sticky keys for a few months but I kept ignoring it since I needed the laptop for school. However, the situation is really bad now. It has gotten to the point where I can barely type anything without having to go back and edit every sentence (autocorrect is not sufficient anymore). I have talked to people at Apple and they said to send it in for repair....again. I realize that eventually, this problem will keep happening, even after the keyboard program expires for me (which according to an Apple agent, is 3 years from the date of purchase so after August of next year, I will have to pay out-of-pocket to keep my laptop usable). I am so disappointed in the quality and service, but not sure what to do. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments] |

The cable worked fine plugged into my iPad and then it quit working and when plugged in, it says not charging. However I plug it into my iPhone and it works fine. I would prefer it to work on my iPad. Any help or suggestions? [link] [comments] |
