| Airpods 2nd gen replacements syncing issue Posted: 19 Jul 2020 06:01 PM PDT So i was sent replacements for both (L & R) airpods. After trying with support for hours, troubleshooting all sorts of ways nothing helped. Found out that my right airpod is on firmware 2D15 while the left one is on 2D3, did this by pairing them to my iphone individually, so they both show up as two separate individual airpods. Eventually read online that Apple has been shipping some replacement airpods with firmware 2D3, which is not available to the public. Its kind go a gamble with whatever firmware you get, but most people were SOL if they had 2D3. Apple's solution was to release firmware 2D15 so airpods can update and be paired together, but ive been trying to get the airpods to update to no avail and now Apple support is telling me they want to place another hold on my account just to send out the replacement airpod, they already placed a hold for $160 for the two airpods they sent but the hold is still there since shipping is still on the way and they have to inspect the airpods. The left airpod just does not want to update at all, any solutions? I've tried:
none of these methods helped, i also tried to "forget" the airpods and re-pair them multiple times. Nothing. Anyone else have any suggestions? [link] [comments]  |

| Questions about iCloud/backing up and issues connecting from iPhone to MacBook Posted: 19 Jul 2020 06:27 PM PDT Hello, I use an iPhone XR on iOS 13.5.1 and a MacBook Air on Catalina 10.15.5. This all started because I wanted to clear up space on my MacBook in hopes of making it function better. I have about 40gb left of storage on it and the majority of my storage is taken up by an iOS file, my backup of my phone. This backup is from 2018, and I haven't been able to back up since then because every time I plug my iPhone in, it disconnects and reconnects constantly, prompting me to "trust the computer" and then disconnecting again. The cord I use is an authentic Apple cord and it works perfectly fine otherwise so I know that's not the issue. So I can't really back up my iPhone to my Mac again, which is an issue in itself. I read online that I could move my iOS file onto my external hard drive to clear up space, but I also can't really do that when my phone does not stay connected for more than 3 seconds. Additionally, I haven't backed up my MacBook since 2018 because Time Machine is constantly stuck on the "preparing backup" phase. I have looked online for this as well and it seems like a lot of people have that issue but none of the solutions I'm finding work. I do have 2TB of iCloud storage on a family plan though. I'm not sure the mechanics of iCloud. So, for one, I am wondering if I should even bother trying to backup my phone to my MacBook if I already have it backed up with iCloud? Should I just outright delete the backup of my phone from 2018? How do I fix the issue with my phone disconnecting and reconnecting when I plug it in? And omg has ANYONE figured out how to use Time Machine successfully?? I am super cautious when it comes to backing up because as someone who has had one MacBook stolen and one broken, I like to have as many backups in as many places as possible. I just now reseted and updated it with iTunes, but my problem is that my home button is broken and I can't "Press home to open". Now I wonder how I can emulate this press or why the hell it even is necessary, I mean devices without any home buttons can be operated too. Example and comparison to Lightroom maxing-out the 'shadows' slider. I sold a phone on Craigslist and I believe the person I sold it to is trying to scam me. She said she wants her money back because I didn't disclose there was an aftermarket screen. There is no aftermarket screen on the phone I know this for a fact as I got the phone 6 months ago new from apple. They said they called apple and apple confirmed over the phone that it's an aftermarket screen, but I'm pretty sure that's not something apple can even do without seeing the phone in person. Can anyone confirm? Seriously from now on I'm just gonna toss stuff out instead of trying to sell it. Is there any way to save their software? Or are there any emulators that can even run their oudated software? They have a lot of great ios games that do not exist anymore (or are plagued with ads) and I would love to save them. | Flash player.app.zip malicious software help! Posted: 19 Jul 2020 08:43 AM PDT I recently found a file on my Mac called Adobe Flash Player.app.zip and have heard of the fake adobe pop ups. Was just thinking this morning about any security issues and thought of that, so I searched my files and found it. I somehow must have fallen for this years ago and have no idea what all of this means if I installed this. I just know it's bad. I found this website: https://www.imore.com/another-psa-again-malware-disguised-adobe-flash-targeting-macos (Also is that website a legit source of information?) And want to follow the instructions to remove it, but what could this have done to my computer? What kind of security issues were allowed because of this? I've been suspicious of security issues for a long time without much evidence of anything. How can I clean up this mess? I'm pretty scared right now. I have an older version of MacOS (Mavericks) on my computer because of old programs that will not run so I don't know if it would have been blocked. I was unable to find an Adobe Flash Player certificate with "Addy Symonds". Not sure what that means, but I have over a hundred certificates in there. Also unable to locate these: /Library/Scripts/installd.sh /Library/Scripts/queue /var/tmp/.ur-* /tmp/.gdm-socket /tmp/.gdm-selinux How do I even get to /var? Could someone have had access to my stuff without me knowing? What could they have access to with something like this? | MacBook Pro Spilled Water - No Keyboard/Mouse Connectivity Posted: 19 Jul 2020 03:15 PM PDT A few weeks ago I spilled water on my MacBook Pro. I bought it in 2015. It was not a lot of water, but enough that when I held my computer upside down, some came out. I let the water drip out and left it in a warm room in our house that gets a lot of sun. After a week I turned it on and could type in my password, but then my computer would just reloop me to put my password in, until it eventually shut off. I let it sit for a week or two and magically I was able to turn it on! I couldn't type in my password, however. I started it in recovery mode and got this screen: https://imgur.com/gallery/ly4FN1G I understand that means there is no keyboard/mouse connectivity. Due to COVID (I'm in California) most things are shut down and I cannot get a Genius Bar appointment. I don't know what to do from here. Should I buy a keyboard and mouse and see if those work? I'm really at a standstill because I can't get an appointment and I don't know if more has failed that the keyboard/mouse. I am trying to not buy a new laptop if I don't have to, since I just use this occasionally. Overnight and despite being on charge, again it shut itself down and wouldn't start, despite being charged it only showed the low battery warning. Currently running recovery once again.
