Mate – Safari extension for learning languages by watching Netflix

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 06:48 AM PDT

Hi there! We just released a big update of our best-in-class Mac translator app – Mate.

We brought our integrations to a new level – now you can translate Netflix subtitles by simply clicking on them. Binging isn't procrastination but language learning now!

Many of you have heard that macOS will have some of its own translation features starting with Big Sur. The very first logical question that may pop up in your head is "Why Mate then?"

I'm glad to answer! First of all, Mate serves a slightly different target audience. Mate is different from Apple or Google Translate at its core.

We focused on a small niche of pro users & learners who live languages. Who translate so much that a simple double-click saves them hours every week as opposed to copy-pasting.

To name a few, here are things that Mate nails better:

    • 103 languages instead of 12
    • One-click translation of sentences and words on pages, not only full page
    • Translate selected text in any Mac app, not only in Safari
    • Uninterrupted writing flow – always available in the menu bar
    • Phrasebook for saving vocabulary that you want to learn.

However, there are things that we proudly share with Apple:

    • A firm stance on privacy
    • Seamless full page translations in Safari

As a little launch celebration, I would like to gladly share 20 promo codes using our other product for organizing beautiful app giveaways: https://tokn.co/c/RCKYpRWl

Bored at home? Me too. I just launched Harbour, giving you (and the rest of the world) 3 unique challenges to complete every day!

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 08:13 AM PDT

Hello /r/Apple! This year is just terrible, and I want to help people out. If you're bored at home, stuck in a rut, or just want some things to achieve that distract you from the headlines - Harbour will help you out!

Every day, early in the morning, three new, unique challenges are created - they're the same for everyone. You'll hopefully have some new experiences and new stories to share with the world. The app is pretty simple right now, but there's plenty to come :)

Here's Harbour on the App Store (for iPhone and iPad), and remember: A ship in harbor is safe, but that's not what ships are made for.

I made a random picker app in SwiftUI which can be used to draw anything by spinning a wheel or by randomly selecting from a pool of up to 50 000 elements. You can also split items into groups (great for generating random teams) or to shuffle lists. Would love for you to check it out
