    My First MacBook

    Posted: 31 May 2020 10:21 PM PDT

Hi guys! I need a major help as I'm planning to buy my very first MacBook. Yay! However, I just can't decide which model to choose.

Mainly using it for work (microsoft office i.e. word, excel, ppt)/google docs but I also plan to store my videos and photos (from watching concerts), also planning to do video editing with LumaFusion.

Can you recommend the best MacBook for me? Maximum budget is $1,500.

    Thank you so much!

MacBook Newbie - What Model to Get For IT Support

    Posted: 31 May 2020 01:27 PM PDT

Just a background: I work as an IT support for a company with several clients. Majority of our users and clients uses Windows laptop or desktop but there are also those who uses macbook or imac. I have 0 knowledge with this tech and would like to learn how to this one and able to support our Mac users without sounding very stupid. As an IT person, sounding stupid is a no-no when supporting clients, like who would trust an IT who doesn't know the devices they support, right?

So I decided to maybe purchase one just to know how this thing works. I would like to ask your opinion on what model should I get just to know the basic to intermediate troubleshooting related to macbook (hardware and software)? Coz I noticed there's a Macbook Air and Macbook Pro, and majority of my our clients uses the Pro version but runs Citrix Workspace to work.

    Another mbp 2020 dilemma

    Posted: 31 May 2020 11:44 AM PDT

Hi guys, I want to buy a mbp 2020, I was thinking about waiting for the education program to save some bucks and today's increase in RAM's price caught me off guard.

I would use the MBP for browsing, some Computer Science stuff, some code, maybe some Minecraft with the boys and I would not use it for video/photo editing.

Here in Italy the mbp 2 ports costs 1529€, while the 4 ports 2200€. If I add 8gb of ram to the 2 port I go up to 1779€, and that is really close to the 4 ports. My questions are:Is it worth to spend that 400€ to make the jump to the 4 ports? I'm thinking about keeping for at least 8 years, can it last long enough?

Thanks for your effort and your time guys ^^

    Should I go for a MacBook Air 2020 i7 16gb or MacBook Pro 2020 i5 (8th generation) 8gb.

    Posted: 31 May 2020 03:25 PM PDT

Hello everyone. I wanted to buy a MacBook but still not sure which one to get. I can't decide between MacBook Air with i7 and 16gb or the MacBook Pro i5 8gb. I would mostly use Excel with big data and for business related activities. Thanks for your opinion.

    MBA 2020 USB-C Hub

    Posted: 31 May 2020 11:33 AM PDT

Just got a new MBA 2020 (i7, 16GB RAM, 500gb SSD). I am in need of a great reliable hub. I do like the look of the very slim hubs that can be attached and left on the side of the MBA and are flush with the width of the MBA, but I also don't mind ones with a short cable. However I have some specific needs for a hub so please suggest me hubs that either perfectly match or closely match the below port specs!

    Specs:

    [ ] (x1) USB-C port (Data & Pass-through charging)

    [ ](x2-3) USB-A 3.0 ports

    [ ](X1) SD Card Slot

    [ ] (x1) HDMI port (4k 30hz (or 60hz), 1080 60hz)

    [ ] (x1) Ethernet Port

    Macbook Air 2019 vs 2020

    Posted: 31 May 2020 05:24 AM PDT

For managing Photo Library (external drive), 2-4 tab internet browsing, video calls, MS office. Is it worth saving the $ and go with the 2019? Is the latest version of the butterfly keyboard really that bad?

    2019 w/ i5 Dual-Core, 8GB, 128GB @ $750 (New)

    VS

    2020 w/ i3 Dual-Core, 8GB, 256GB @ $899 (New)

    VS

    2020 w/ i5 Quad-Core, 8GB, 256GB @ $999 (New)

Water damage - am I out of the woods?

    Posted: 31 May 2020 07:05 AM PDT

Committed the classic accident of spilling water on my macbook. Turned it off, turned it around, dried it as best as I could, and let it dry for about 24hrs (a good part of that in the sun). Today it turns on just fine, all the keys are working, and everything seems to be running at normal speed (except the internet, which feels a little slower to load but I do have rather crappy wifi). Even ran a diagnostics when first turning it on and no problem popped up.

When can I stop worrying I've ruined my laptop? I wanted to turn this macbook back in to Apple when I upgrade and it was in mint condition, will they reject it now? Ahhhh!! I feel so guilty.

My Mac is not loading websites properly for the last few days. Have checked other websites, and they load properly. Weheartit.com, a website I use everyday, and the brandyMelville website are both loading this way (pictured). Anything I can do? Or am I doomed? Any help appreciated

Connecting Mac to 2 Monitors: 1 Dell & 1 HP: Only 1 recognized !!HELP!!

    Posted: 31 May 2020 06:22 AM PDT

I have a MAC Pro (2 USBc Ports) that I use with one adapter.

The adapter has a few different ports: 3 USB, 1 VGA, 1 HDMI, 1 USBc, 1 SD, 1 TF

My dell monitor connects to the HDMI & the HP (EliteDisplay E231)connects to the VGA. Individually, both monitors are recognized but when I plug both in, the HP displays the Dell Display window - even when I try to recognize screens - I've unplugged and replugged and have restarted my mac & nothing is helping - what do y'all recommend?
