Question about buying an Apple TV Posted: 29 May 2020 04:39 AM PDT Hello, I'm going to be buying a new tv soon and want to get an Apple TV to go along with it. Should I get the 4K one or wait for the rumored new Apple TV? I know it's just a rumor, but I can easily wait for a new one if it's a matter of maybe a month or two if that means I can get the newest one instead of getting the 4K one now and having an updated one come out just after buying it. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 May 2020 12:13 PM PDT This has been a bug for at least several months now on at least the Apple TV 4K. For example, the Cartoon Network show "Regular Show" is now available on both the HBO Max and Hulu apps, and I happen to have an active subscription with both services. Whenever Up Next moves "Regular Show" to the next episode, it always re-associates its app launcher with the Hulu app, even if I just watched it in the HBO Max app. If I start an episode in the HBO Max app and back out of it, before it finishes, its Up Next app launcher correctly switches to HBO Max for that in progress episode. However, it switches right back to the Hulu app, when it moves to the next episode. I also tried removing "Regular Show" from Up Next and re-adding it via starting an episode in the HBO Max app, but it makes no difference. Moving to the next episode always results in the Up Next app launcher re-associating the show with the Hulu app. If this bothers anyone else, please provide feedback to Apple via the https://www.apple.com/feedback/apple-tv-app URL. If enough people complain, maybe they will actually care enough to fix it. [link] [comments] |
Getting password prompt for all app updates Posted: 28 May 2020 09:38 AM PDT I have 4 Apple TV (4K) units that haven't been auto-updating apps for some time. I've confirmed "Automatically Update Apps" is set to "On". Making matters worse, I'm prompted to enter my Apple ID password when updating every app via the app store (every time, no matter if I set the option to Always, 15 minutes, or Never). It simply refuses to remember me (again, this is for _updates_ not app installs - google searching yields nothing about this problem with updates). I'm also running with restrictions on to prevent the little one from doing pretty much anything, but I don't think that's connected to this as I'm being prompted for my password vs the restrictions PIN. I wouldn't mind so much if Apple would just provide an "Update All" option like they do on iOS (c'mon Apple) but I'm completely over hunting for individual updates and entering my password for each, x4 units. Any idea what broke? This is killing me. [link] [comments] |
Where is the home key when using Apple TV 4K Learn Remote setting? Posted: 28 May 2020 09:57 PM PDT I'm trying to use Learn Remote in Apple TV 4K settings to setup my Sony TV remote to control my Apple TV. Works great except there doesn't seem to be a way to configure the button for Home. Without Home, the remote is kind of useless. What am I missing? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 May 2020 06:08 PM PDT I cant find the app, only the HBO GO app. Is the HBO app max not supported for 1st gen ATV? [link] [comments] |
Up Next keeps swapping from Prime to Hulu Posted: 28 May 2020 11:17 AM PDT We are watching a Star Trek series that exists in both Hulu and Amazon Prime. We are brand new to Amazon Prime so we want to watch it in the Prime app. However, Up Next keeps changing the provider to Hulu. I thought maybe it was just the wrong label, but it really does launch Hulu. I have removed from Up Next multiple times and it will stay for a day or two and then switch back. Anyone else encountered this? Any ideas how to fix it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 May 2020 08:05 PM PDT I've had my AppleTV 4 for about 8 months now, and I love it. Its awesome. However, I'm that time I've noticed some weird behaviour. When I pause a show (doesn't seem to matter which app I'm using), and then change out of HDMI, it unpauses and starts playing (I only know this because the sound for my AppleTV is hooked up directly to a stereo system, not via the tv). The opposite will also happen if I'm streaming music via airplay (I'll change out of HDMI and the music will pause). Has anyone else experienced this or know a fix for it? [link] [comments] |
Using Apple TV With Slow Internet Posted: 28 May 2020 07:28 PM PDT I live in rural Michigan and our internet is slow and capped at 50gb a month. I have been going to the library, parking my car, and using the internet to download movies off Netflix and iTunes while I watch lecture. I have an iPhone, a MBP, and an iPad and I would love to stream my 4k movies straight to my tv rather than messing with the HDMI cables and getting up everything I need to pause it. I asked an apple technician today and I didn't get a clear response. Does using airplay to stream these 4k movies use a lot of data and will a slow connect result in reduced quality even if the movie is already downloaded? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 May 2020 07:32 AM PDT Recently, I've been getting HDCP errors for any Dolby Vision movie we are watching on Disney+. It's only been for about the past two or three weeks and we've been Disney+ subscribers since launch. I am using a Belkin HDMI cable that I bought from an Apple store so I know the cable is solid. It's the only app on my Apple TV 4K that's giving me this issue. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
HomePod Stereo Pair not working as audio output Posted: 28 May 2020 07:01 AM PDT I have a non-4K 4th gen ATV and am trying to use my stereo pair HomePods as an audio output. I can select the HomePods in the system settings for the aTV, but no sound comes out of the HomePods. All three devices are in the same room and are set up in the same room in the Home app. Volume is turned up on the HomePods so that's not it. [link] [comments] |
This Is my second new tv in two months and the my Apple TV does not work! Posted: 28 May 2020 02:05 PM PDT all TVs are 4K in the statement below I purchase a 58 inch Vizio two months ago as an upgrade from my Samsung 49 curved. My Apple TV did not work with it. It would not let me stream anything above 720p. I started using the "airplay" that all these new TVs have but I missed my Apple TV format too much. So I returned the tv and plugged my 49 back in. But today I decided I'd try again to purchase a new 4K tv 55 inch LG and of course the Apple TV does not want to work. I've turned the settings on in the TV to allow 4K but it is spazzing out now trying to adjust the resolution in the Apple TV app, so the screen is essentially blank for 10 minutes, even though Apple says if it doesn't work we'll switch back. This is really upsetting because my opinion is that the TVs don't want you using Apple TV because it has it "built in" although the airplay is trash and I don't want to use my phone. I spent $200 on this Apple TV and it's really odd that it doesn't seem to work with the newer TVs I purchase. Any help would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Purchased TV episodes not showing in Apple TV Posted: 28 May 2020 01:46 PM PDT I'm using an iPhone 8plus with iOS 13.4.1 So as the title says, some TV episodes I've purchased in iTunes are not showing up. Way back I bought a bunch of random Curb Your Enthusiasm episodes on iTunes and recently I've been 'completing the season' in iTunes by buying the remaining episodes. I've also been able to stream them to my Apple TV box at home without any issue. For some reason, the newly purchased episodes do not show up for two seasons. When I click 'get more episode' I can see a download/play icon in iTunes so I know I have them. Pressing play takes me back to Apple TV and then nothing. Downloading works, but as soon as I delete the download the episode vanishes from Apple TV. Any idea what's going on here? I'm not hiding any content and I've tried both signing out and in again and even deleting and reinstalling Apple TV. Interestingly for one of the seasons in question, no artwork is displayed in the apple tv app. It's either missing or someone it's not pulling through. It's a bit of a cheek tbh that I've bought them and can't stream them. [link] [comments] |
Question about HBO Max in Apple TV Posted: 28 May 2020 12:12 PM PDT Does anyone have HBO Max? I am liking the content, but I don't see an area to view my entire "Watch List." I have the carousel that says "watch list," but I can't see every title on it. I know on the iPad app, there is a way to see the entire Watch List (under the profile section). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks [link] [comments] |

Apple TV Samung vs Apple TV 4K Posted: 28 May 2020 10:18 AM PDT I have a new Samung TV with Apple TV built in. What is the big difference between Apple TV 4K and the one built in? Is it worth buying the 4k? [link] [comments] |
