If I stream a 4K file through Quicktime Player to my 4K Apple TV, will it be capped at 1080p? Posted: 17 May 2020 03:54 PM PDT Okay so for a while I've been watching videos that are 2160p/4K airplaying them using Quicktime Player with my Macbook Pro 2016 to my Apple TV which is the latest model and 4K, as is the OLED TV. I've read conflicting info here around Airplay, and whether it maxes out at 1080p regardless of the original quality of the video. From my experience the quality image is discernible whenever I watch my videos/movies using Quicktime. So, while airplaying (not mirroring my Mac) with Quicktime, am I getting 4K or just 1080p? Appreciate any help! Thanks [link] [comments] |

How do screensavers work when using DV or HDR modes. Posted: 17 May 2020 12:32 PM PDT I have a dedicated home theater space. I find it best to leave our ATV4k in Dolby Vision with frame rate and range matching set to on. This minimizes black screens when watching our content (mostly iTunes DV movies). I love the screensavers however when I'm DV mode I seem to only get one or two at a time compared to the amount you get in SDR mode. Does anyone know why this works the way it does? Apple TV Atmos working without plugging into AV receiver ? Posted: 17 May 2020 11:29 AM PDT Hey everyone! Ok so I managed to do this very strange thing. I've always had my Apple TV 4K plugged directly into my TV so I could have Dolby vision as I valued having that over atmos, seeing as my receiver only does Dolby Atmos but not Dolby vision. I've coped with 5.1 sound for about half a year now but all of a sudden today, I noticed that my receiver was displaying "Dolby Atmos" as well as my TV showing Dolby vision, and I could definitely hear the Dolby Atmos coming through. So my question is, how the hell have I managed to do this without me plugging the Apple TV into the receiver directly? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 May 2020 02:59 PM PDT Good evening, I have searched high and low on my APTV and I'm unable to check what storage is remaining on it. Is there a way of finding this? Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 May 2020 01:17 PM PDT Being Lazy (as always) I decided today to redeem my "digital movie code" into "Movies Anywhere" so I wouldn't have to get up and switch Blu-Rays every time. "Thinking" Apple would be the best service to use, I chose them as the service to redeem to. However, It only shows the HD version under my library. After a few hours on the phone with support I found out.... Apple does not have the 4K UHD version of "The Rise of Skywalker" ??? WTH. I then (as a test) decided to redeem my "The Last Jedi" code with Vudu and had zero issue. How can Vudu have the 4K UHD version of a 2 year old movie and not a bigger named brand like Apple. I doubled checked and Apple still doesn't even have a copy of "The Last Jedi" in 4K UHD. So basically I lose my "The Rise of Skywalker" redeem code because Apple doesn't have it and didn't warn me of that. Never again. One of the biggest movies of last year and Apple doesn't have it available "Are you kidding me!!!" [link] [comments] |
Question: Free Year of Apple TV on iPad Posted: 17 May 2020 06:09 AM PDT So Apple gives a year of free Apple TV to iPad buyers. I've skimmed through the app, and nothing seems to be free. What exactly do I get from a year of free service? Because every single episode, movie, or channel seems to have a price tag😒 [link] [comments] |
