2017 air screen freezing issues Posted: 14 May 2020 12:10 AM PDT recently for the past week or so my macbook air has experienced random bits of screen freezes/lag when i'm using it. i thought either chrome or discord was the problem so i updated both of those and cleared some of my cache, but to no avail. i restarted my macbook too but my screen still freezes for a few seconds when i change windows from chrome to discord. i haven't installed macOS Catalina yet, but i don't think that's a factor in this. any ideas? Do I Qualify for a Keyboard Replacement Posted: 13 May 2020 11:33 PM PDT So I've got a 2017 MacBook Pro with (of course) a butterfly keyboard. Just to clarify, I know it's still young enough to apply for the replacement program. The dilemma I've got here is that sometimes the keys get sticky/unresponsive for a little bit, but later on they repair themselves. For example, as I'm typing this my "0" key is very hard to press. It'll probably be fine within a few days, but it's still annoying and I kind of want it to be fixed. Would Apple replace this keyboard? [link] [comments]
Music doesn’t play on the new MacBook Air 2020? Posted: 13 May 2020 11:29 PM PDT Okay so I've been using the new MacBook Air for about a week now, and it's going great. Except for one thing: Lately, I can't seem to listen to music on my Mac. I can listen to couple songs on either Spotify or Apple Music, but after that, the music disappears and a crackling sound appears. The track is seemingly progressing, but even if I skip to the next song or skip around the same song I've been listening to, it's still mute 🤐 YouTube doesn't work, Spotify web and Spotify app don't, and neither does the Apple Music app. When I try to watch a youtube video, it says "If playback doesn't begin shortly, try restarting your device" [link] [comments]
New baseline MacBook Pro or spec'd out MacBook Air Posted: 13 May 2020 07:15 PM PDT Interested in hearing which option people prefer in light of the MBP update: MacBook Air with 10th gen i5, 16GB ram, 512 GB storage for $1,379 vs New 13 inch MacBook Pro with 8th gen i5, 16GB ram, but only 256 GB storage for $1,289 In short, could get the MacBook Air with double the storage and a better CPU, only for $100 more. Is that worth it? For context, I'm a comp sci student, so mostly need it for studying/coding/some gaming. [link] [comments]
Macbook Newbie Purchasing Advice Posted: 13 May 2020 07:05 PM PDT I am looking to purchase a new laptop and I am ready to make the switch to a macbook. I will be using it for daily personal use as well as some work use. I typically have multiple tabs open at once, while running word processing or spreadsheets. I plan to edit photos and videos as well but nothing major (just for fun). Since I am NOT AT ALL familiar with computer specs I am not sure what the best option is for me. I am open to buying new or refurbished, and any model that suits my required usage. While I don't have a budget per say, I don't want to spend extra money for any specs I don't need! I want a laptop that will do what its supposed to, quickly, and smoothly, with a long battery life and hopefully will last me for quite some time. Any recommendations on what would be my best option? 16" MBP external display fan noise Posted: 13 May 2020 10:29 PM PDT I was wondering if the issue where if you connect a 16" MBP to an external display the fans get loud regardless of what you are doing has been solved by apple. I was thinking of buying one soon but I don't like the idea of it being loud even when idle just because it's connected to a display. [link] [comments]
Which is the most logical option? Posted: 13 May 2020 11:10 AM PDT Hi, I am planning buy a MacBook for the first time since I need a good quality laptop right now and also Apple has great resale value. I have a budget of $1800 and fine with any price as long as it's worth it. I was going to buy an i5 MBA first but its thermal issues and Y series chipset changed my mind. Most of my friend told me to buy the 15" and try to score for 16" version via keyboard replacement program after a year of usage. What do you guys think? Also, if you have time, could you please state the reason? Note: I am gonna mainly use it for Android Studio, XCode and heavy media consumption. Edit: I am from Turkey but probably will be in Netherlands or Japan next year. [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 May 2020 06:11 PM PDT So just got my Macbook Pro 16 inch today, i'm loving it so far but the FANS ARE SO LOUD ALL THE TIME. I got everything maxed out besides the SSD and am mainly using for music production and some gaming/modding here and there. I know there are programs out there that help with this issue but I am rather new to this and want to be safe as i'v heard you can damage your computer if you don't really know what you are doing. I also haven't really heard anyone complain too much about the noise and I don't know why its so loud when I literally just have google chrome up to type this so i'm not sure how to go about it. Any help is appreciated. [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 May 2020 08:32 PM PDT I've been running an external monitor using a mini display to HDMI. I recently got a second monitor, and am wanting to run a second monitor (laptop screen and 2 monitors). I've been looking at the J5Create JDA156 (mini display to dual HDMI) . Will it be able to do that? [link] [comments]
Is it worth getting a MacBook? Posted: 13 May 2020 07:34 PM PDT Hi there I'm interested in the MacBook 13inch, I was concerned that Apple has put a 8gen processor and a 10gen processor in to the laptops does it Mac a difference? [link] [comments]

Connecting two external displays via Thunderbolt 3 hub Posted: 13 May 2020 09:40 AM PDT Hello Folks! I've got a 2015 Macbook Pro with 4 Thunderbolt3 ports and two external monitors (HDMI). Recently I purchased a Baseus 11 in 1 USB-C hub: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gb9nnXFavPs Unfortunately, my monitors show as one device, so I cannot set up screen extending. In other words: I've got separate "desktop" on my MacBook, and separate one "mirrored" on both monitors. In yet another words, my two monitors connected to the HUB are recognized by my computer as one device/monitor. My screen resolution is set up to 2560x1440 60Hz. Any1 knows how should I set up my monitors so they would extend screen rather than mirroring? Thanks in advance, Maciej [link] [comments]
Shutting the MacBook Pro completely off Posted: 13 May 2020 03:36 PM PDT Hi, I would like to know if there is a way to shut the MacBook Pro 16" COMPLETELY off. Of course I know how to shut off a macbook but coming from a 2015 model I'm very confused that it instantly turns on again when pressing any button or just opening it. When cleaning I would like to have it off. I think there has to be a way, I just haven't found it yet [link] [comments]

How to connect 2 port Macbook to Posted: 13 May 2020 03:03 PM PDT Hey guys, I suspect I am just being daft but I wonder what the cheapest way to connect a 2 port macbook is to: A monitor using a HDMI Cable I have seen a load of dongles which may or may not work for me but I am not sure if they allow charging/ if they will extend screens as opposed to just mirroring them. Happy to buy multiple dongles but already actually have a USB-C -> HDMI + USB 2.0 so suspect I just need something for VGA and charging? [link] [comments]
This MacBook is $150 off, is it a good deal?? Posted: 13 May 2020 02:56 PM PDT According to Amazon, Apple MacBook Pro (13-Inch, 8GB RAM, 128GB Storage) - Space Gray (Previous Model) is $150 off. Is it worth the money? Is it a good deal? Please share your opinions. [link] [comments]
Should I repair my Macbook Air '13 mid 2013? Posted: 13 May 2020 02:54 PM PDT Hello, The title is pretty self-explanatory. My MacBook has dents all around, top case, bottom case, and USB ports (mid case). The trackpad is cracked and it will be due a battery sometime in the future. Is this computer worth fixing (replacement parts online)? Are these MacBook Airs still worth anything today? I wouldn't want to put $200-$300 on a device that will sell for next to nothing. It is an i5 with the highest memory option, can't remember how much GB (200ish?). [link] [comments]
Keyboard cover preventing ventilation? Posted: 13 May 2020 02:35 PM PDT Hi all, I have the Macbook Pro 2016 model with the touchbar. I've been using a silicone cover for my keyboard, but a friend of mine told me that using one prevents the device from airing out properly because a lot of the heat is supposed to escape between the keys. I've had to replace my keyboard twice now because I kept having the issue of keys get stuck and double-typing--now I'm wondering if this is because I had a keyboard cover. Does my friend's claim have any truth to it? Should I not be using a keyboard cover? [link] [comments]
How is Apple handling Recalled MacBook Pro Battery Replacements? Posted: 13 May 2020 02:35 PM PDT I have a 2015 15-inch Macbook Pro. Even though it is out of warranty, the battery was obviously recalled some time ago. Initially, I didn't want to send it in, because I couldn't wait two weeks and be without it, due to needing it for work. At this point, I'm wondering if they are still doing repairs/recalls. If so, are they just eliminating the retail store part of it, and having you ship it to them directly? I would like to get it done eventually...The person from Apple told me that I have/had 2 years from the recall date to get it done (I think it's been 11 months since the recall). I'm also curious if they will extend the 2 year date, because of the COVID epidemic making it hard to get things serviced. FWIW...CoconutBattery has it at 70% Design Capacity right now.
