Does my student need a Macbook? Posted: 30 Apr 2020 02:20 PM PDT Hi all, I have a student starting college in the Fall. I am considering a Macbook for her graduation gift, but I'm not an Apple guy...at all. What are the benefits of a Macbook vs. a similar spec windows machine? Sorry if the question is overly broad, but I'm pretty clueless here [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 May 2020 10:23 AM PDT The new MacBook Air. God I want one. Such a beautiful product. However the truth is I don't really have any good enough excuses to justify buying it. I have an iPhone and it looks like there's lots of great integrations between the two. So I need some reasons, what stuff can I do with it that I can't already do on my iPhone? How will it make my life better?? [link] [comments]
Should I wait and see if Apple discounts 15inch models Posted: 01 May 2020 10:06 AM PDT I'm planning on buy buying a MacBook Pro 15-16inch, for creative use. As Apple seems to be discontinuing the 15 inch models in favour of the new 16 inch, I was thinking if it'll be worth it to wait a bit, to see if the 15 inch models become discounted. I've already missed out a couple of decent discounts on the Apple refurbished store ... Will it be worth waiting? Also, does anyone recommend legit stores/websites in the UK which sell discounted Macs? [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 May 2020 08:02 AM PDT So, a bit in a dilemma over here. I'm a long time Apple user from the first plastic white model and now with the 2017 MBP 13". Before the MBP I had a Macbook 12" 2015 for 3 years. Now, working with the MBP for over a year some things really start to annoy me tbh. I don't like the fan noise and I don't like the sharp edges on the place where your rest your palms. I'm looking around to buy the now discontinued 12" back, but 2017 or 2018 model ofcourse. But something inside me screams: you idiot, don't do it. I don't need a lot of power. I used it my Mac's mainly to design/develop websites, I now use it more for daily task (mail, browsing, office,...) because I'm stopping my business to start a new one. Am I crazy to go back to the 12" or...? [link] [comments]
Macbook Pro 16" spec recommendations for web development help? Posted: 01 May 2020 06:10 AM PDT Just a quick question for any web developers here. I'm making the move toward a career change and I'm getting ready to purchase a Macbook. I'm planning on learning front-end development first and then giong full stack down the road. I know I don't need a powerhouse of a machine, but I wanted to make sure I'm not being shortsighted. I was considering 1TB SSD and 32 GB RAM. Would that future proof me for a bit? Is there any reason why I should consider upgrading the graphics card and processor from the base model? Thanks in advance for any help/recommendations. [link] [comments]
Need help marking pdf documents Posted: 01 May 2020 03:16 AM PDT Hello, so I am new to this subreddit but I really hope you guys can help me with this problem as it's doing my head in. I have a MacBook Pro, and want to highlight text on pdf documents for uni. However, these documents are mostly scanned pages out of books so the preview program does not recognise it as text, so I can't highlight it by selecting the text. I also tried to use the tool bar (I'm from Germany, don't know what it's called in english sorry), but whenever I select the pen, the pen size an color and start to „draw" it just shows me an empty selectable square in which I drew, but without a line in it. I pretty much want to use a free hand highlighter on the text, yet so far nothing has worked. Thanks in advance, really hope someone here is able to solve this problem for me. [link] [comments]

Trying to factory reset a Macbook Pro 2011 but can't seem to reinstall the OS X because a message pops up saying a "Required Download is Missing" Anyone else have this problem before? Why does saving webpages/documents from Safari as PDFs save as one single continuous page? Posted: 30 Apr 2020 05:43 PM PDT This must be something new because usually when I save a PDF it will automatically break up into different pages. Now it's saved as one entire page. When I save the same page from Google Chrome it saves them into broken up pages. How can I change this on Safari? I'm running on MacOs10.15.4 and Safari 13.1. [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Apr 2020 05:15 PM PDT I have a one-year-old MacBook Pro w/ touchpad (the one with 2 USB Type-C ports). I just purchased a monitor and it seems to connect seamlessly to use as a 2nd display with a HDMI-to-USB C. I can't connect the Bluetooth Logi keyboard and mouse set up though. Which hub/port/accessory can I buy to make this work? At the cheapest? [link] [comments]
Dual External Monitors on MC374LL/A Mid-2010 13-Inch MacBook Pro Posted: 30 Apr 2020 05:53 PM PDT Before I go buying a mini display port adapter to dual HDMI, does anyone have experience with adding dual external monitors to an older, mid-2010 13-inch MacBook Pro? [link] [comments]

Macbook refurbs on eBay in the $300-400 range? Posted: 30 Apr 2020 02:25 PM PDT I just searched these up, and there's tons of them on there with solid specs, mostly from 2008–2012 it seems. What do u guys think, are they worth it for just a basic laptop that'd last a few years? [link] [comments]
Is Backmarket A Safe Place To Buy A Macbook? Posted: 30 Apr 2020 06:16 PM PDT Hi all!! Looking to buy a Macbook with my stimulus check. And the refurbished ones on the Apple site went way up. I found some good refurbished ones on a site called Back Market. I looked into it and it seems fine, but I'm not very familiar with it and want to make sure that I'm spending my money wisely. Looking for a Macbook from no earlier than 2015 under $900. Any tips? [link] [comments]

Weird buzzing muffling sound on my MacBook Pro right speaker. Posted: 30 Apr 2020 10:33 AM PDT Recently I've just discovered my MacBook Pro was having this weird buzzing sound on it's right speaker, updated to the latest OS X and it's not fixing it. Tried to change the Hz on midi and now it just got worse, anyone knows how to fix the buzzing sound? If I were to bring it to a specialist I'm afraid they'll have to replace the whole speaker and there goes my money again. I recently sent my macbook to have it's wifi card changed and it cost me like $270, I hope I don't have to waste my money again. [link] [comments]

Recently spilled water on my 2019 13" MacBook Pro, do I need it repaired? Posted: 30 Apr 2020 04:46 AM PDT Immediately ran to Reddit as soon as I plugged in my MacBook's charger and heard the glorious charging sound. I had spilled water on it about 40 hours ago and the MacBook shut off immediately, and for the time being it didn't show any signs of life and kept it in the "tent" position until now. I'm curious if it's needed to take it to a repair shop? Everything seems to be working: display is fine, keyboard is fine, speakers are fine, the trackpad is fine and the computer itself is functioning fine. But this is just what I see on the surface level. Is it recommended I take this to a repair shop? Just needed some second opinions as I'm the type that needs clear, clarification. Thanks!
