Posted: 29 May 2020 04:02 PM PDT I have an iPhone 11, just the regular one. It died and I put it to charge. After I put it to charge, the screen turned black and had the white apple logo stuck. It's been like that for 2 hours. I tried resetting it with the up, down, hold on sleep/wake and then it would shut off but go back to the same screen. Can't go to the apple store for a while, any ideas on how I can fix this? [link] [comments] |

How to charge iPhone XR to 100%? Posted: 29 May 2020 04:46 PM PDT Every night my phone doesn't charge to 100% - it just goes to between 60%-100% and stops until I take it off the charger in the morning. It's really annoying because it's almost dead and only 5PM here. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 29 May 2020 06:25 PM PDT I have a 2018 MBP that has Bluetooth 5.0. I also have a Google Pixel and the Pixel Buds, both supporting BT 5.0. When connected to the phone, the buds have excellent range. I can walk around the outside of my house and keep connection leaving my phone next to the MBP. If I connect the buds to the MBP, I can't walk to the kitchen, which is maybe 20 ft. Anyone have any suggestions?? My router is right behind both devices, so there is surely a source of interference, but it should be affecting the devices fairly equivalently. [link] [comments] |
Need Help Reinstalling Mac OSX Posted: 29 May 2020 09:49 PM PDT Hey there everyone, I've had a nightmare month with Logic Pro X, and finally got most of the software working but one crucial section, the "Sound Library" options are all unavailable and greyed out for me. This means I can't select an external hard drive as a destination for downloads, or download instruments and plugins in the first place. This being necessary to me, I see no option but reinstalling Mac OSX in the hopes that it corrects some internal files and gets Logic working properly again. However, when I launch in Recovery Mode and select "Reinstall Mac OSX" there is no destination disk available, which confuses me because I thought the hard drive IN the computer was where I would reinstall it haha. Looking around online I saw someone saying that this was something called "Filevault" and that I just needed to unlock that? However, I want to make sure before I do something I regret. Would any of you be able to help guide me through doing this? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 May 2020 09:46 PM PDT I purchased a 2018 iPad 9.7 new 1.5 years ago after years of owning Android tablets that performed poorly after a year or two. I bought it because my boss brought in his 5 or 6 year old iPad one day that was all beat up but still going strong. I was sold and purchased an iPad the next day, my first very Apple device. 18 months later and it's dead. It's in pristine condition, never been dropped, no scratches, etc. It pretty much sat at my bedside for 18 months and was used for reading, browsing and playing games occasionally. I've tried pretty much everything. A different charger, a different cable, holding power and home for 30 seconds, warming it up, cooling it down, connecting it to iTunes (iTunes doesn't see it) etc. Nothing works, just a black screen. I brought it to the Apple store but unfortunately they're closed. I checked Apple's site and it looks like it'll cost slightly less than buying a new one to repair. I'm not going to spend another $400+ for a new one if it's going to die again in 18 months. Is there anything I'm missing? Or do I just write this off and go back to cheap Android tablets? Posted: 29 May 2020 05:49 PM PDT Hey all, I have a 2011 iMac that I simply want to use as a secondary monitor (Duet Display). Unfortunately when I turn it on, I get the apple logo and progress bar...and then the screen goes dark and turns off. Over and over. I can't boot in safe mode because neither the keyboard nor mouse are connected. Is there anything I can do? [link] [comments] |
Time Machine Glitch of Death - Help! Posted: 29 May 2020 09:27 PM PDT Hi, I just got a MBP 16 (Catalina 10.15) and have been trying to set up time machine on a network USB drive. I have a TP-Link Archer AX50 (which supports time machine) and a 4TB Western Digital USB hard drive hooked up to it. The router is setup as a repeater (Router mode, no internet, directly connected to the main router via LAN). No matter what I do: blow away the hard drive, reformat, directly connect to the router by ethernet, I keep getting the "Time Machine completed a verification of your backups. To improve reliability, Time Machine must create a new backup for you." error/message. I'm super frustrated as it took almost 2 full days to get the router in a mode where my computer could see other devices on the network as well as the TM backup (I did a ton of experimentation with WAN and LAN to figure out what would work). I'm at a loss for what to do. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
I can't grant an App permission on Macbook Pro Posted: 29 May 2020 09:18 PM PDT I Have a 2014 Macbook Pro running Mojave. I downloaded a poker app that I like to use but whenever I try to open it, it tells me I need to give it permission at the privacy/accessibility menu. Well, when I am there the app is grayed out and doesn't allow me to check the box. The +/- buttons to add and remove apps is also grayed and doesn't allow me to hit the buttons. Can Anyone help? Cannot connect or receive messages from MacBook Air Posted: 29 May 2020 09:03 PM PDT First time MacBook user here! I just got a MacBook Air today and was trying to set up iMessage on it, but they're being sent from an iCloud account with the same name the one used to register my Apple ID on my iPhone, I went to iMessage preferences and my phone number was not an available option for "send and receive" only the email used for my apple account and the iCloud email. What I find worrisome is that when I go to my Apple account on my MacBook Air, my number is a verified contact. I went only phone and there is no send and receive option [link] [comments] |
Could Apple be selling returned products? Posted: 29 May 2020 08:52 PM PDT I just got AirPod pros, and one of the headphones had 50% more charge when I opened it than the other, is that odd? Seems weird to me [link] [comments] |
Problems starting up 2015 Macbook Air after Catalina update Posted: 29 May 2020 08:11 PM PDT I updated my Mac to Catalina (10.15.4) a couple of weeks ago and since then it has been giving me problems on waking. I bought it new in 2017 so I really hope there's not something seriously wrong with it already. When I wake it up it will either not let me type in my password for a few minutes or it will let me type it in and get to my desktop and then start buffering for a few minutes. Sometimes the screen will go black and then display a bunch of random colors for a few seconds (like the kind of screen you really don't want to see on any electronic). After this whole process it is usually /okay/- it seems a little bit slower in processing normal things and will sometimes freak out for a few seconds like it's getting overwhelmed. I don't play any games on it or do any heavier processing than microsoft word. I cleared up as much storage as I could (there's 63.31 GB available out of 121.12GB) so I don't think that's the problem. I'm starting to get really frustrated because I don't know what else to do. Any pointers would be much appreciated. TIA [link] [comments] |
Can't upload videos to iPad via iMac Posted: 29 May 2020 07:54 PM PDT Specs for iMac: (Retina 4K, late 2015), processor 31. GHz, Quad-Core Intel Core i5, 8 GB memory Specs for iPad: iPad Pro (12.9 inch, 2nd gen), software version 13.2.3 My iTunes has long been replaced by Apple Music. I've tried uploading AVI and MP4 files. AVI says it isn't compatible, and MP4 says I need to download Videos to my iPad, but I can't find that app anymore. What workaround is there anymore? I'm surprised Apple seems to be making it so hard to handle this one basic task. [link] [comments] |

question about water damage or battery damage Posted: 29 May 2020 07:29 PM PDT IMPORTANT QUESTION FOR IPHONE X so today, i was in my pool just relaxing while my iPhone X was on the pool ledge... Everything was doing fine until some water went into my phone speakers, of course i got confused so i started playing some loud noises and everything went back to normal... a couple of hours later, my phone died and when i charged it, i saw something that said man battery wasn't working or something like that. I then checked my iPhone front camera lens and saw some sort of condensation on it, my pictures appeared blurry. I tried drying it up with a blow dryer but that didn't do much... Now, my phone is covered in a warm towel. Anyone has any tips or suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Horizontal Line on iPhone XS Max Posted: 29 May 2020 07:24 PM PDT There is a horrible neon line on my OLED screen. I have tried restarting it, even not using it for a day to see if it goes away, but nothing works. Does anyone know what this is or how to fix it? The screen is not cracked or anything. I have included pictures. [link] [comments] |
Something wrong with my MacBook Air Posted: 29 May 2020 07:12 PM PDT Hello everyone, this problem started happening 2 days ago and I was hoping I would get some information on how to fix it online. I bought my MacBook Air in 2017 and I just started having this problem. One day I opened up my laptop and noticed that the fan was on, it was weird but I didn't think anything of it but it would not turn off. I decided to try restarting my computer and shutting it down and turning it back on but nothing worked. After I did that I released another problem. My battery percentage is no longer showing up and when I go into settings it says it's at 0% even thought I'm currently using it. When I try and click the box to show my battery percentage it unclicks. Also, my charger is showing the colour amber and if I remove it and put it back on it no longer flashes green, just amber. I decided to call Apple services and they walked me through a SMC reset but that didn't work immediately and I had to wait at least 10 minutes to click the power button for it to turn on and the problem is still there. Apple services said that I either mail it to them or take it to the nearest Apple store. The nearest is across the border which I cannot do because of Covid and mailing it/ paying for the cost will cost me $503 and I don't have that. I would really appreciate any help I can get to fix my problem, I'm a student and this is the only way I can finish my summer studies. Thank you [link] [comments] |
Popping sounds from headphone jack when screen is touched or home button pressed Posted: 29 May 2020 07:03 PM PDT Hi everyone, I've got a weird issue here. Given the age and condition of my device, I'm not really expecting a fix; I'm just curious as to what exactly is going on. I have an iPhone 5c running iOS 9.3.3. For the last couple of months, I have experienced occasional popping sounds when using headphones or speakers connected through the 3.5mm port. These pops would most often occur when moving the cable. OK, simply a poor connection between jack and port, right? But, oddly, these pops would sometimes happen in conjunction with touching the screen or pressing the home button.
Any idea what's going on here? [link] [comments] |

Messeges won't stay assigned to a desktop on MacBook Posted: 29 May 2020 06:17 PM PDT On my old MacBook Air, I like to have 3 desktops open. I have my messages set to always be on desktop 3. I got a new MacBook today and I am trying to set it up the same way. I go to desktop 3, right click on the icon and select assign to this desktop. But whenever I close messages, and try to open it again, it will open on Desktop 2. Don't know, it just happens. Any ideas why it is defaulting to desktop 2 when I assign it to desktop 3? Issue with audio on MacOS when using iPhone for phone call Posted: 29 May 2020 05:53 PM PDT Hi there, I'm having a weird issue the past few weeks where if I'm using my iMac to place or receive a telephone call using my iPhone, it works fine as usual, then about ten seconds into the call, the other person cannot hear me at all. Facetime audio and video work just fine, and it doesn't matter if I start/receive the call on the iMac first, or on the iPhone and send it over. I can also swap between phone and iMac multiple times in the same call and my audio dies at approximately the same time each time I click over in the iMac. I also have a Macbook pro and it's not happening there. The person I'm speaking to comes through loud and clear. It's just my outgoing audio that dies. iMac Retina 5k 27-inch, late 2015 model MacOS Catalina 10.15.5 I just updated to 10.15.5 today, but this has been going on for a few weeks. iPhone is also up-to-date with the latest iOS (13.5), and it's an iPhone X if that matters. Any ideas? It really doesn't seem to be a hardware issue because the mic input works fine on everything else. Thanks :D edit: all three devices are on the same individual iCloud account, i've rebooted everything, no new software installed the past couple months. [link] [comments] |

is the current ipad mini, more worth it in the long run the standard current ipad? Posted: 29 May 2020 05:21 PM PDT i was looking at the specs and the a12 chip on the mini stood out to me, the ipad had an a10 chip. unless its a super overclocked chip that closes the gap. so logic dictates that it will last 2 more ios versions because of the chip or at least a few more years with battery replacement. i don't really care about screen size, because i'm a pretty short guy.
