    Is it just me or does reddit perform very poorly on Safari? I thought it was may old MacBook but I'm on a 2020 air and the page is still stuttery when scrolling or popping in and out of modals.

    Is there a way to stop the magic keyboard from automatically connecting via Bluetooth when plugging it in?

    I use the keyboard for my MacBook and windows pc so what I want is to have it wirelessly connected to my pc and when I want to use it on my MacBook I can just plug it in. But I don't want it to connect wirelessly when I do that because then I'll have to manually reconnect it on my pc.

    Safari 13.1 autonomously changing default file download location

    Its like I'm battling against one of those magic boxes. I prefer my Safari downloads to go to my desktop, but I constantly have to change the default file download location back "Desktop" because every day or so Safari changes it back to the "Downloads" folder.

    Does anyone know if Safari reverting to its default save location is a common byproduct of some other process or application? It's very frustrating.

    Best free or cheap productivity apps for macOS?

    I've just ordered my first Mac and I am looking for some good free or cheaper alternatives to the high end apps I cannot afford yet such as Photoshop, Logic Pro, Final Cut Pro, Microsoft Office and any other creative or productivity suites/tools.

    I have purchased Pixelmator due to a recommendation from a friend as told this is a good, low cost alternative to photoshop.

    I am also aware that Apple has their own suite of office tools such as Pages, Numbers etc. But not sure if this can fully replace Microsoft office suite or not.

    I would like to eventually purchase the high end software but don't want to pirate it and can't afford any of them for at least the next year or two but want to start creating some projects.

    What can change the "Date added" for a file?

    I have a file in the download folder that I KNOW to be the one I have had since 5 months ago. Let's call it file Z (It's a pdf file).

    I recently had a potentially virus infected usb drive connected to my MacBook, twice, neither times did I transfer any files from my usb stick, the first time I placed Z from my MacBook on the usb drive, the 2nd time I merely connected to my MacBook for a clean wipe to get rid of any virus.

    But I noticed just now that file Z's date added is now showing to be around the time (I honestly can't tell) I clean wipe the USB stick, which was last friday, I couldn't have been stupid enough to bring a file from a usb back on to the MacBook which I plan to secure erase to get rid of viruses (even though I placed the file on the USB originally). I am now freaking out because I'm worried that it is some sort of advance virus attack that was embedded in my usb that replaced my original file Z on my MacBook simply by connecting to it.

    I have scanned my MacBook with avira and malwarebytes, nothing, I scanned file Z specifically, nothing, but I have opened and read file Z numerous times with Macbook's document reader ("Preview") so I'm really freaking out.

    What could possibly have changed the date added for a file? The only way I know how is if It's the same file that I downloaded from somewhere again, with the same name which replaced the original copy, but I can't think of anywhere I could have downloaded it.

    Is there any way I can find out more information about this file Z to know for certain?

    Camera Stopped Working all of a sudden. Any Advice?

    Hey Guys,

    I got a 2017 MBP 13" No-touchbar. Was in the middle of an interview when the camera just stopped working! Later, I tried SMC, NVRAM, PRAM reset and every time I would open FaceTime or another camera app, the light near the camera would flash green and the preview would be black.

    After this, I noticed there was an update ready to install, and after it was installed, my FaceTime says "No Camera Available" and system report says "No video capture devices were found." I tried PRAM, SMC, and NVRAM reset again and tried the camera on my Windows partition or a different user. Nothing doing.

    Super weird. It just stopped out of no where. Any tips?

    Logitech Options sometimes crashes after waking up from sleep

    This is happening on both my work 13" MBP and personal MBA, both running Catalina and the latest version of Options. Occasionally, when waking from sleep, Logitech Options must crash, or something, and everything I've configured in it (for both keyboard and mouse) ceases to work - no custom button mappings, or anything. Re-opening the Logitech app doesn't fix it, I have to log out and log back in to get it to start. It is extremely annoying. Anyone else having this issue, and anyone been able to fix it? Thanks

    So ... originally I planned this to be the release day but sadly it isn't.
    But I discovered how I can bring many more icons from Mavericks to Mojave and I worked on the progress bars. Tomorrow I plan on bringing a few more UI Elements back and the day after tomorrow either doing more UI Elements or I'll work on icons.

    Today I just used the same picture because ... idk, nothing really new to see

    Imac update error . I am facing problem after I installed a new ssd hard disk n a new IOS is installed 10.8.5. system iTunes 12.4.3 error 102 appeared when I try to do updates. I m stuck cannot proceed further. Try check on YouTube n google read some advise to download E.I. Capitan but the download cannot work at all. The file cannot be downloaded. Really appreciate if some technical expert can give me advise.

    Not recieving iMessages from one contact

    On my MBP, I can see both mine+my friend's messages.

    However on my iPhone (SE 2020) I'm not receiving any of his messages, I can only see mine.

    But he can see all of the messages on both his iPhone and his MacBook.

    This started happening when I started using an iPhone 4S about a week ago, it only gave me the option to send him texts and I never got his replies, only on my MacBook. I even turned iMessage off on my iPhone 4S but still the same.

    Everything is and has been totally fine with all of my other contacts.

    Why is it just him yet he has no problem with my contact on his end? and how do I solve this?

    Spontaneous restart

    Afternoon all,

    My Mac Mini restarted all by itself. No user input or power outage.

    Checked Activity Monitor (couldn't make head or tail of it) and ran its System Diagnostics.

    It was the first time I've done that and it gave me a .gz file.

    What do I do with it?

    Safari suddenly makes MacBook overheat?

    I never had issues with safari making my MacBook overheat except when I browse H & M (on chrome it works fine).

    Since earlier today, whenever I go on safari to browse anything (literally anything), the machine overheats and you can hear the fans freaking out. What am I supposed to do?

    A good sleep shortcut?

    Hopefully I'm not missing anything obvious...

    So, at some point I remember having a hot corner that put my computer to sleep, now all I can find is "Start Screen Saver"

    I also am aware of CTRL + CMD + Q to lock my screen.

    Is there a quick way to put the computer actually to sleep? I'm on the current OS and on a 2019 MacBook Pro 15.

    Hey everyone,

    I'm wondering if anyone has any advice as to how to tackle this dilemma.

    Essentially, I have been trying to find various emails I received between 2 and 3 months ago but I cannot find them using the search option. I know the senders of the emails and exactly which domains I received them on, however it seems as if certain emails have decided to delete themselves from existence. I'm assuming there is more to this.

    Any help would be appreciated, thanks :)

    Any way to automate creating a smart album for every camera type in my library?

    I like this mode of viewing my photos from time to time. As I have >30.000 photos in my library its a very time-consuming task to create a smart album, then change what to search for and then choose the camera type. there's a lot of camera types.

    Is there a way to script this? can the list of camera types be accessed somewhere?
