| iPhone 11 gets hot when surfing on the web Posted: 24 Apr 2020 12:39 AM PDT When i picked up this phone like 2-3 months ago there was no problem i can surf on the web or use instagram (basic stuff) without any heat but suddenly my iPhone 11 gets hot while using instagram or watching youtube.. bottom half of the phone close to the Apple logo.. idk why this is happening i use original chargers, all the update's downloaded and installed via iTunes and for no reason i have this problem.. | Help retrieving deleted contacts - iPhone XR Posted: 23 Apr 2020 10:36 PM PDT Hey all! So I was going through and clearing some of my old contacts I no longer use in my phone and managed to accidentally delete some current and important people from the contact list in the process! I've been through a number of articles on Google that said the easiest way to retrieve these contacts is through a backup if you had turned on the option to sync contacts to iCloud. Unfortunately when I went to check on this, mine was turned off and also for text messages which I could have alternatively used to get the numbers back. I've tried restoring contacts from iTunes as well as iCloud backups however am still missing a few contacts that I know I had before... they don't show up in the backups at all! I should also mention I tried out dr.fone backup software and again the same thing happened where it only showed a few people and there were definitely some missing including the people I accidentally deleted only a day or so ago. I could always ask these people what their numbers are again however texting was my only way of contacting them and I never had an email or any of their social media to reach out! Any help or alternative solutions to getting these back would be much appreciated! [link] [comments]  |

I'd be kind of embarrassed haha, since it was so long ago. Also, and this second question might reveal my extreme paranoia/fear of embarrassment, but when you search up someone by their name on your iPhone using the "Search" option, are they notified? | Posted: 23 Apr 2020 11:52 AM PDT iPhone XR has no sound, it seems like on calls the top speaker works but playing media or putting the phone on speaker does not output volume. I know for a fact this most likely isn't a hardware issue, as I switched out the logic board from the no sound phone into a brand new XR and the issue persists. Sound plays through Bluetooth with no problems and vibration works as well. I've done most of the troubleshooting online guides provided me but the sound still does not work. Updating it now to 13.4.1 so hopefully, that does something. Any help appreciated. Edit: Updated to 13.4.1 did nothing. Still sad. [link] [comments]  |

| Spam iMessages Showing up as Contacts Posted: 23 Apr 2020 11:21 AM PDT So I've been having this issue for the past month or so where I get random spam texts daily. They usually come from email addresses although sometimes they're phone numbers too. I've enabled my iMessage settings to filter out unknown contacts and yet they show up under the contacts section as if my phone recognizes the email/number. Because of this, I don't have the option to report these messages as junk underneath the message like many tutorials show. I checked my actual contacts and there's no influx of spam emails & numbers in there. Typically, I avoid putting my number out anywhere primarily because of reasons like these. However, a couple months ago I did test out an Android phone just to see if I preferred using that on the daily (I didn't). So my sim card was in that device for a short time. It was a brand new android phone so I doubt it was tampered or anything. While I don't know if this had anything to do with it, my problems started shortly after this iirc. Not sure if this could potentially be the source of my problems but I still wanted to mention it. Any advice on potential solutions? I'm at a loss at this point on what to do [link] [comments]  |
| data backup from dead phone / wtf happened to my phone Posted: 23 Apr 2020 08:29 AM PDT 1) Straight forward question: Can I run an itunes backup (either officially or through other means) for a phone that wont turn on? 2) more involved question: iphone X, Canada, did not do the most recent update but up to date otherwise. Yesterday I was sitting and my pocket got hot. the phone was unresponsive then, took it to the coolest and most secluded part of my house and let it sit there. I let it sit for a few hours, wont turn on. left it plugged in for 3 hours (monitored regularly) and the battery was a little warm but not remarkably so, still wont turn on. performed the resets and other simple fixes recommended when googling (there arent alot of options out there). any idea how to fix this long enough to get my data off of it? I dont trust it anymore and I'm looking for an excuse to look for alternative hardware. Apple says if I send to them for repairs they cant get the data off due to their privacy policies. | Posted: 23 Apr 2020 12:46 AM PDT I just bought two iPhone 11s from t-mobile this Monday and for some reason the screen is freezing randomly for about 5 seconds and it happens at least 3 to 4 times a day. when the phones freezes I can't click anything it just gets stuck. The phones are used mostly for social media consumption. I tried turning off the phone and that didn't work I also tried updating the phone to the latest iOS version but that didn't work either. I have an old iPhone 6, which has been sitting in my drawer powered down for about two years (since I updated). However, I recently realised I have photos saved on it of my dog, who passed in 2017 from cancer, and I would love to gain access to them again. But the iPhone won't turn on. When I plug it in to charge (and have even left it for hours) the screen doesn't show the battery symbol or even turn on. I've tried restarting it (holding the home and power button for 10 seconds) and nothing. I don't know what could be wrong - it was working fine when I put it away. I also read that you could boot it in safe mode by holding down the home button and inserting a charging cable, but nothing happened. It's completely unresponsive. How can I fix this and gain access to the photos? It was previously synced to a computer which has since gone on the fritz, so syncing again (if it even turns on) may not be possible, though I can try. Any help would be really appreciated. No she did never Back up the data on her itunes. Is there anyway possible i can get the pictures of the phone. Edit: I tried itunes update, i dont wanna restore or hard reset because her pictures are gone then and she already has a new phone so she doesnt need this she just wants the pictures back.
