Posted: 30 Apr 2020 05:18 AM PDT Think about if there was no notch. 50% of the time you would pick up your phone with the camera at the bottom instead of the top and have to flip it. Just think about all the time we've saved and how annoying it is to use a USB cable and get it wrong half the time. Imagine if every USB cable just had a little notch to let you know which way was right, relief! Having the phone only have a single "right way up" also ensures the facial recognition camera is always at eye level and the right way up for scanning, making scans faster. If the iPhone had to scan at chin level it would take longer to recognise you and give more errors because it can't get a complete picture at the angle and with your chin blocking your face. For this reason I think the notch is intentional by Apple and will not be going away in any future iPhones. IMO The iPhone will always have something to use as an indicator of "this is up" on it (old iPhones had a home button for the same purpose). And for now, with the removal of the home button, that is the notch. 2021 iPhone will have a notch. Bank it. [link] [comments] |
