My first Apple product ever (iPad Pro 11 2018). I really love this tablet and I’m considering buying new iPhone SE. I also love this double column view in Slide for Reddit, it reminds me of Sync for Reddit I’m using on android.

One of the coolest tricks on the iPad! Surprisingly, a lot of people don’t know about this. (it’s not a fridge, it’s a file cabinet)

329 days after WWDC19, you can finally view two/three Word documents at the same time (now in beta)

Out of my three note-taking apps (GoodNotes, Notability, & Noteshelf), Noteshelf takes the cake for handwriting fluidity. The writing tools to choose from are just excellent.

I bought my dad a 10.5” iPad Pro for his 58th birthday. He likes the ProMotion display and quad speakers, and doesn’t care about the chip performance, so I got him this over the Air 3.

I travel a lot and the new iPad Pro Magic Keyboard is not for me. What are the best Magic Keyboard alternatives that take a tablet-first, protective approach?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 01:25 PM PDT

I ordered my Magic Keyboard today but I've decided to refund it due to the following:

    - A lack of function keys and escape key

    - The minimal viewing angle of 130-degrees

    - No real extra protection when doing anything other than taking it to work or keeping it in the house

    - No ability to revert to tablet-mode while retaining the protection of the case/keyboard

    - Price

Are there any other options for people like me who prefer more rugged protection and the ability to type when needed? I mostly want this to be something I can take with me when I leave the house instead of lugging around my 15-inch laptop and still get work done if/when needed. I'd also like to have confidence in taking it in the forest/bush (the Magic Keyboard isn't built for that).

iPad Pro 12.9 4th gen Smart Folio (non-keyboard) Skin Upgrade

iPad Pro 12.9 4th gen Smart Folio (non-keyboard) Skin Upgrade

I personally love the smart folio case for my iPad Pro 12.9 4th gen as I prefer to use wireless keyboards placed precisely where I want them away from the screen. However the plain black was getting kind of boring. Just bought this "skin" off amazon, applied it today, took about 3 minutes and I am really pleased!

I could only find apple smart folio skins for the 3rd gen iPad Pro on amazon, however it is exactly the same as the 4th gen except with a larger camera hole cutout which i did myself with a knife quite quickly and it turned out just fine. However I plan to refine/touch up the cutout around the camera hole once I get my hands on a more proper penknife because observed up very close you can see it's just a tad crude (not a patient person).

Not a gorgeous or cinematic shot by any means that you often see here however I thought I'd share as most "skins" websites seem to only have iPad case skins for the smart folio keyboard version only. This amazon seller has hundreds for the regular smart folio. Cheers.

I would like to see more Magic Mouse 2 gestures for iPad, like two finger Swipe to switch between apps, double tap with two fingers to zoom. I can do those on MacOSX using MM.

Is there a way to bring the on-screen keyboard up using the assistive touch?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 02:23 PM PDT

I use webflow for editing my website and it's a browser based interface. I can select elements on the screen by tapping them but because they're not text boxes the keyboard doesn't show. I need the keyboard to be able to delete the element by hitting the backspace or delete key.

Can you set up the assistive touch white circle thingy to bring up the keyboard at all - or any other way for that matter?

iPad OS and terminal emulation via Termius

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 11:11 AM PDT

I use the ipadOS app called Termius for telnetting to several remote servers I manage. The app works fine until such time as I try to run it in the background and then the telnet connection quits 100% of the time. Anyone else see this behavior and is there some kind of workaround?

    Upside down Smart Keyboard Folio

People with IPPs who moved from folio keyboard to magic keyboard - was the change as big as you expected? What are your main pros and cons?

How to prevent my magic keyboard from getting all worn out?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 09:05 AM PDT

I just bought the Magic Keyboard case and I love it. But my biggest concern is that the exterior material is the same as the Keyboard Folio, which is no compliment at all since mine was already worn out by the first 10 months of having it. I guess you've might already seen how they get. Is there any case or skin that would prevent this from happening? This was a $350 keyboard and I'm not buying another one anytime soon...

    Magic Keyboard Battery Consumption?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 03:06 AM PDT

I'm curious to know if anyone has noticed significant battery drain on the iPad Pro 2018 with the magic keyboard!

The keyboard does have backlit keys so I'm really curious if anyone has done an observation/comparison about it.

MK owners, do you use your ipad "naked" in tablet mode or when it is out of its case?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 02:51 PM PDT

It would be sort of a pain taking the Ipad off the MK and putting it on another case or vice versa. Was wondering how many say "screw the case" and just use it in tablet mode "naked".

UK purchasers - what were your delivery times?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 06:49 AM PDT

I'm looking at buying the 11" iPad Pro WiFi but the fastest delivery from Apple is looking like the 29th May, I'm assuming this is a stock issue rather than a courier issue. The WiFi-Cellular model delivers in a few days.

The same product on AO.com delivers on the 2nd of May, however I would miss out on the student pricing (£40 off)

Does anyone know of anywhere that retails the iPad and offers the student reduction? Or am I best off waiting for Apple stores to reopen in May / while more stock comes in before I order?

Computer used by iPad Pro users

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 05:19 AM PDT

I'm just looking to see what others use at their computer, if they own an iPad Pro. I had a 2018 Razer Blade 15 that had some issues and now MicroCenter is giving me a $1200 gift card to cover the warranty. I bought the 2018 iPad Pro about a month ago though, and with the strides iPadOS made, its what I use 90% of the time. It's very portable compared to my 15 inch laptop and I actually enjoy the Keyboard Folio keys.

I'll have this $1200 to spend on something though and I need something to open some programs(that use flash), read my military CAC and a few other miscellaneous tasks. Possibly some gaming. My last Mac was a 2015 MacBook Air and it was definitely nice. It lasted awhile but I don't see a purpose in that if I have an iPad Pro. I enjoyed having a Windows PC but my expensive gaming laptop lasted only a year. I'm even considering a desktop PC. I'm very cramped for space in my 1BR apartment with my wife and dog, but we will hopefully be buying a home sometime in the next year or so.

So just curious what other iPad Pro users use.

    Thanks.

Absolutely love my first ever iPad :) desk setup, forgive the ungodly amount of cables

Is there any USB-C adapter/dock that includes a USB-A port and a 3.5mm headphone jack that doesn't cost that much?

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 05:16 AM PDT

I could only find adapters that have only either a USB-A port or a 3.5mm headphone jack, but not the both that wasn't expensive.
