I rescued a PowerBook G3 from the trash... Posted: 07 Apr 2020 01:29 PM PDT It was nasty and smelled horrible but after some time cleaning it up and waiting for a charger to ship to the states from the UK, I plugged it in and everything works. The only missing bit is the cd rom drive. To my surprise the battery even takes a charge and seems to be lasting quite some time! (Estimated at 3 hours in the screen shot). Here's the picture of it browsing r/Apple on battery power. The only cable hooked up is ethernet(no wifi). Its a 1998 G3 300mhz. it has an 8gb drive and 128mb of ram and an ati rage gpu. So far ive installed classiczilla to easily download stuff from the web, and I've installed my favorite classic mac game Escape Velocity. My question to any of you out there with old macs is what other classic apps should download? And for those that know the hardware better than I do, can i get a wireless card to work in classic mac os? 802.11a or b maybe? Did apple ever make a blank for one of the hot swap bays? Anything youd like to me try to do on such an old machine? [link] [comments]

Apple replaced one of my defective AirPods via courier today (UK) Posted: 07 Apr 2020 09:15 AM PDT TL;DR Title really but here you go — I got my AirPods replaced in 2 days via UPS courier in the UK (had to pay a deposit of 85£) after having a static noise issue. I had this weird static noise (rattling noise) coming off in one of my AirPods consistently (only when noise cancellation was ON), guess few have had encountered this before as seen in Google but mine didn't get resolved on factory reset as it did for others. So, I discussed with Apple over chat support, and they sent me a new replacement AirPods via UPS which arrived in 2 days with prepaid UPS courier to send the defective piece, I was well within the one year period so didn't had to pay anything but had to pay a deposit of 85£ which will be refunded once the defective piece has been received. Everything works perfect like it was new now. I don't know if this normal or if Apple has changed this due to Covid-19 situation right now, it was such a good experience in my opinion. Guess Tim being the "logistics" guy is really paying off for Apple (and us as customers) now. Stay safe, take care folks! [link] [comments]
Made a concept of how home screen widgets could look. Posted: 07 Apr 2020 09:39 AM PDT According to the potential leaks of the iPhone 12 Pro, the home screen widgets could use take up the space of the icons. I wanted to see how that could look. I used the same design language of the current widgets. [link] [comments] |
