| Option key not working with Bootcamp w/ wireless Logitech keyboard Posted: 21 Feb 2020 09:59 PM PST I just installed BootCamp on my 2013 Mac Pro and the option key doesn't seem to work when booting up. I'm using a Logitech MX Keys w/ wireless USB receiver. It works when I use my old wired Apple keyboard. The BootCamp control panel is not an option because I'm on Catalina and apparently Windows and APFS doesn't play well... Anyone have an alternative to switch between Windows and macOS or a solution for using my MX Keys? [link] [comments]  | ||
| MacbookPro 15" 2018 (Catalina) doesn't restart when in Target Display Mode with iMac Posted: 22 Feb 2020 12:50 AM PST Hi Reddit, I've searched and scoured the net and haven't found any info on this specific problem I have (I do feel like i'm missing something obvious but feel like I've tried every combination). So my goal is I want to use my old 27" iMac (late-2013) as a display for my MacbookPro (2018) in clamshell mode. I have bought a bluetooth Logitech keyboard and mouse that allow for more than one pairing device - so I can successfully switch to the iMac and hit Command-F2 to take me in to Target Display Mode. I was hoping that if I hit restart I could wait a minute or two (while it boots up to the log-in screen) and then hit Command-F2 again on my iMac to go in to TDM. But this never works, and the keyboard LED lights (on Macbook pairing mode) show that it never makes a connection suggesting the macbook isn't turned on. And sure enough when I open the macbook pro lid, it starts the boot up sequence from having been shut down... I feel like the problem is it is restarting with the lid closed, but then loses the connection to knowing that it is connected to an external display (the iMac reverts back to it's own display). I don't think the Macbook Pro knows it has an external display attached until you activate TDM? I know it can normally restart fine when connected to an external display as I have done this countless times when connected to my BenQ monitor via USB-C. As soon as you hit restart it works and the display stays active. I hope that makes some sense? Any help greatly appreciated, thank you! [link] [comments]  | ||

Posted: 21 Feb 2020 09:45 PM PST My photos app seems to regularly miss tagging photos despite having hundreds of examples, especially if the camera was rotated slightly when the photo was being taken. I was wondering if the latest photos update brought any better recognition? Since the release of Catalina I have not seen any article mention it, but that does not mean that it didn't improve. | How can I find the file location of software that's being blocked by security & privacy? Posted: 21 Feb 2020 04:30 PM PST When I look at the security and privacy pane in settings, there is a constant notification that says "System software from developer "Wacom Technology Corp." was blocked from loading." I don't have a wacom and I don't have any wacom software installed. I used to years ago, so I just did a full system search including hidden files, launch agents/daemons, etc, and removed any trace files. But, the message still persists. Is there a way that I can find out where that software is located that's triggering the message? [link] [comments]  | ||

I bought a MacBook pro on Craigslist for 750 the seller told me that it was a fully upgraded mid 2015 MacBook pro and that is what it shows when I look at the, about this Mac, screen but when I look at system info it shows only a 2012 MBP. (Serial number on the back also shows 2012.) About 15 sec after using the screen went black (it worked for about 15 min when I was talking to him). It still connects to a monitor or TV and I can use that but the laptop screen does not turn on. http://imgur.com/gallery/Dw0tFd4 Is there a way to tell what's on the inside without opening it up? (Apple wouldn't look at it and a repair shop wanted $100 just to open or diagnose it.) Is there a way to unhack it? Things I have tried so far are resetting the pram, the smc, and booting up in safe mode. I have 16' macbook pro with 2 external monitors. One is 4k (through display port) and second one is FullHD (through HDMI). Every one of them uses its own thunderbold USB-C port on my macbook. I use adapters to convert HDMI/DisplayPort to usb C. The issue is as follows: when i connect only one of the monitors, everything works fine. But when i connect both of the at the same time, i experience lags on the 4k monitor. It looks like that refresh rate has dropped. It is weird because this setup has already worked before. It started behaving like this just few weeks back. Issue is not related to multiple monitors connected, because I tested this 4k monitor with another 4k monitor and it worked just fine. Also the reason is not resolution difference between those monitors, because I have tested different 4k monitor with my fullHD monitor and they also worked fine together. I am little bit lost now, so I want to ask you for help. Do you have any ideas what can cause this issue or have you ever experienced something similar? Thank you for your helps! | Merging folders in Finder deletes the contents of the target folder Posted: 21 Feb 2020 11:04 AM PST I'm running macOS Mojave version 10.14 on a MacBook Pro, and I've encountered a really strange behavior that started out of nowhere maybe an hour ago or so. I can't find any information about it online, and I've tried most common troubleshooting steps (resetting PRAM etc.) What keeps happening is that if I drag-and-drop or copypaste a folder into a destination where a folder with the same name exists, and I choose "Merge" in the popup dialog, it deletes all the contents of the target folder rather than doing a proper merge. This behavior extends to FTP applications as well, where they complain about me attempting to rmdir the folder contents before merging, so I suspect that this is something that's happening on system level rathe than GUI level (though I'm not sure). Is this a setting, or some kind of bug? Has anyone encountered this before? [link] [comments]  | ||

First let me explain what i mean, eg i have two non full screen apps open, first chrome second photoshop, im using chrome and decide to use photoshop but it needs to click multiple times for the mouse to focus so i can use it. | Upgraded to MacOS Catalina on work laptop and now my exports are broken Posted: 21 Feb 2020 02:21 PM PST Hey Everyone, I upgraded my work laptop to Catalina and since it was previously using bash as my shell it is still the default. But now my exports are no longer working. Any idea how to fix? I am using iTerm2, but I also confirmed the issue persists with the built-in Terminal app. Also it does appear to be executing my .bash_profile just not honoring the export commands. My .bash_profile looks like this. --------------------------------------------------------- echo "Importing PATHs" export PATH=$PATH:/Users/rmurphy/bin ---------------------------------------------------------- When I open a Terminal I get the message "Importing PATHs", but when I do "echo $PATH" it only shows the default paths. I can confirm that ~/bin exists and contains my scripts and that $SHELL is /bin/bash Also, if I try to manually source it using either "source .bash_profile" or ". .bash_profile" it is still not actually importing the path I defined. BUT, if I do an "export PATH=$PATH:/Users/rmurphy/bin" on the command line directly it DOES work but this is not a long term solution. Any idea how to resolve this troublesome issue without me installing BASH 5.0 through brew? Thanks! UPDATE : So I am an idiot, a new line was added at the very last line in my .bash_profile which overwrote the previous PATH exports since it did not add to it. I can create new playlists and smart playlists, but all the ones I've set up over the past 20 years, all the ratings I gave my tracks, they're all gone. WHAT THE ACTUAL DUCK APPLE? | Macbook 2017 external display limitation Posted: 21 Feb 2020 12:51 PM PST Hi, so I check the spec of my Macbook 12 retina and it says that my MacBook support only one external display ... what I can't understand is why can I have an external display AND a airplay display I mean the graphic car still need to manage 2 screen so why not but with a cable something more stable than airplay...
