    Lightning to Digital AV(HDMI) Review

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 05:23 PM PST

I've been gaming with a controller quite a bit since the release of iOS 13. Until a few days ago I was using one of those flexible arms to hold my phone and to keep my hands free, but now I have the Lightning to Digital AV adapter. Functionally it's a Lightning to HDMI, but iPhones don't technically support HDMI out so Apple has a special SoC inside this adapter doing some magic to make it all work. That's why they charge $50, and it's why you really need to avoid the third party adapters. It's not a simple device.

Anyway, it works great with my iPhone XR. I've been playing Sky, Fortnite, Call of Duty, Steam Link and Apple Arcade on the big screen. When you are playing a game the screen is mirrored on your TV(turn your brightness down to keep your phone cool while mirroring). Games will be shown to your TV in the aspect ratio of your phone. I'm using an iPhone XR so the games that support ultra widescreen show up with black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. If you mess around your TV's aspect ratio settings you can get an image that fills the screen if you really want to, but it will cut off the sides of the image.

If you are looking for that console experience with your favorite iOS games, then I highly recommend this accessory. Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm Working on Dungeoning, A Pixel-Art Incremental RPG That Needs Alpha Testers

I'm Working on Dungeoning, A Pixel-Art Incremental RPG That Needs Alpha Testers

Dungeoning is getting further into Alpha and we've added several major features in the last month, such as active character switching, new Potions system, and a ton of content (dungeons, NPCs and animations). And as we get ready to put in the guidance and messaging system, I'm hoping to get as much first-user experience feedback as possible.

The game is a nonstop incremental RPG-- it's fantasy, party-based, loot-centric, including a hunt-for-collectibles strewn all over the place and (now 74) dungeons to dive (and we just hit 200 NPCs in the game).

    Here's some screens:

An ice dungeon, a chest & a chimera

Lava level, with the Warrior in the lead

The collectibles I mentioned get dropped all over the place, from dungeons, to quests, to your daily D20 roll for rewards:

That's not supposed to be a face on the Mandrake root-- it just turned out that way.

If this looks like something you might want to check out, DM TheWizard (that's me) in our Discord.

If you're wondering still, check out a ridiculous amount of screens and GIFs on the website I put up recently (you can also sign up for a Beta invite there if you don't want to play now in the Alpha).

If you DO want to play, and you DM me, remember-- there's no guidance yet, no tutorial, and only a few popup help windows to tell you what's going on. The feedback I'm looking for is what we need-- I'm hoping to do a light-touch tutorial and/or just signpost everything well enough for players to uncover the rather deep rabbit hole that the game becomes. And I need to hear what is and is not understandable (there's a Wiki on the Subreddit once you want to start looking at the mechanics).

Look forward to hearing your feedback!

    Old game

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 12:13 PM PST

I used to play this game when I was a kid. I looked for it and I think I found it, it's called tap cats. But the only version I can find is a card battle type game, which I absolutely hate and definitely wasn't what I used to play, but the characters definitely are what I remember. Anyone know if it's the wrong game or if I can find an apk of the old game?

EDIT: I did some more searching and found out it's called tap cats: idle warfare. It was removed from the app store because the devs couldn't keep up anymore. Any idea on how I can get it as an apk or some other way on ios?

Should I need to bring back BoobyJump to AppStore?

[Discussion] Seeing as how the Wuhan apocalypse is on us all, what are some of your all time favourite offline games that you can play and replay until the end of time?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 04:58 PM PST

No internet access, no IAPs, no multiplayer. It's really the apocalypse.
