Finally bought myself a leather band from Nomad for my series 4. Very happy with this combination.

Very grateful for Apple Watch today.

Last year I decided to get my dad an Apple Watch for his birthday. He had had some cardiac issues in the past including afib, but had cardiac ablation done and a loop installed. I'd figured that if we got him a watch and there was ever an issue we'd be able to handle it in real time instead of waiting for the doctor to call after getting the information from his loop.

Fast forward to Thursday night and my dad is getting a high heart rate notification. He was consistently at ~160bpm while resting. He woke my mom up to take him to the hospital where he was admitted. After his heart slowed down with the help of some medication he went back into afib, but he was in a controlled environment so we weren't as concerned. He kept getting afib notifications and would proudly show the nurse when she walked in. When his heart finally adjusted itself from afib back to a normal sinus rhythm, his heart stopped for six seconds. Not a huge amount of time but had he been driving or something in that moment, those six seconds could change lives.

Now he's scheduled to receive a pacemaker on Monday. If he hadn't had the watch alerting him, he likely wouldn't have gone to the hospital and I don't know what could have happened. So today I am very grateful for his Apple Watch.

    Missile in a Watch

I'm trying to drum up some interest for my new game. It's a missile avoiding game but I plan on adding more features and levels if it gets more popular. If you think it's good please leave a review on the AppStore.

You can download it at https://apps.apple.com/us/app/missile-in-a-watch/id1493628073

    Thanks

Portable Case /w Charger or battery pack with built in puck?

    Posted: 23 Feb 2020 06:57 AM PST

Other than the Belkin Boost battery pack - are there any MFI certified portable banks that don't need the cable that aren't from sketchy sources? There seems to not be many official apple watch charging products that don't use the cable.

S4 on 6.1.3 - just switched to T-Mobile - Tons of phantom vibrations, Out of Sync SMS Msgs and Delayed Reminder notifications

    Posted: 23 Feb 2020 06:58 AM PST

My wife and I switched from VZW to T-Mobile last week and we brought our S4 LTE watches with us. Ever since switching carriers and upgrading to 6.1.3 we are experiencing three issues:

    1. We have been getting tons of phantom vibrations.
    2. iMessage keeps SMS messages unread when we read them on our phones (SMS only not iMessages)
    3. Reminder notifications vibrate, nothing shows on the watch, then 5-10 seconds later the reminder notification displays on the watch (mine only)

My wife unpaired and repaired her watch last night, but hasn't yet seen the difference as it is too early to tell. I am going to do the same but wanted to post this to see if anyone else is experiencing these issues?

    Cheers

    Update notifications

    Posted: 23 Feb 2020 04:21 AM PST

Anyone else find it annoying that the watch will remind you to update it after you put it on in the morning, and not before you charge it for the night or at any other point in the day?

I always forget to update it because it's literally the first thing the watch tells me in the day and never mentions it again the rest of the day and I forget.

Is it possible to divide today's sleep into two; night's sleep and afternoon nap? Sometimes I see Sleep Session 1 and Sleep Session 2 but it's done automatically. I can't see a way to do it manually.

Weather App: does start with hourly temperature, want it to start with weather conditions (sun, cloudy etc)

    Posted: 23 Feb 2020 01:39 AM PST

I know it's just one extra click, but it just feels a bit off. On my modular watch face, it can already see highest and lowest temp for the day, so hourly details for temp doesn't add much information, but knowing if and when the conditions change does. Oddly enough, in videos I watch conditions seems to be the starting screen when opening the weather app, but on my watch it's temperature. Did I mess up the configuration somewhere?

Edit: Series 3, btw, face like this: https://forums.macrumors.com/attachments/img_4370-jpg.684164/

So I got an Apple Watch 5 series 3 days ago. Yesterday once I closed a ring for the first time I got the message saying "You reaches your stand goal, email. A friend of mine has the same watch and it displays their name when they get this message. Anyone know how to fix this issue? Thanks!

Watch app for US election updates?

American living abroad here. Just looking for a means to stay up to date on election results via watch notifications, much like a sports game. Any suggestions? Much appreciated.

TIL: an S4 bought overseas* can have irregular heart rhythm and EKG/ECG enabled if bought to the US.

    Posted: 22 Feb 2020 04:30 PM PST

I bought an S4 in November last year to replace my S3 mainly for the added screen size, watch faces, and health features. Before purchasing, I knew that some countries don't allow certain health features cause of compliance/health rules and all that, but I figured if I was buying it from the military exchange, it should. Unfortunately, it didn't and know that I'm back in the US temporarily, I was all set to take it to Apple Store today to see if they would give me a US-spec version. As soon as I got off the long flight, I tried the Irregular Rhythm Notification and ECG features, and they both worked. Not sure if anyone else was in a similar situation but just wanted to share.
