Posted: 07 Feb 2020 06:45 PM PST So right now I do most of my stuff on my macbook air. Mainly - internet browsing and typing. Lately though, the iPad is being used more. apple pencil, apple news, etc. It's starting to grow on me. I notice that many people have a keyboard for it. Why? Just pure curiosity, what's better about using an ipad for work than a macbook air? Is they keyboard worth buying? [link] [comments] |

iPhone 7 unable to update to iOS 13 because stuck in verifying update loop Posted: 07 Feb 2020 03:29 PM PST I have been meaning to update my iPhone 7's iOS for a while (currently on iOS 10.2.1), but no matter what I do cannot get the update on my phone. Every time I download and try to install iOS 13 my phone gets stuck on "verifying update" before shutting down. I have deleted the update before installing again and that has not worked. I have tried to do it via iTunes and that has not worked either. My phone has a lot of free storage space. I have also attempted to just back-up the phone and do a factory reset, but for some reason my iPhone gets an error when trying to do a back-up via iTunes or iCloud. Anyone have any other possible solutions? [link] [comments] |
Macbook pro upgraded ssd and ram. Posted: 07 Feb 2020 10:55 AM PST Hello to anyone who may be able to contribute so my 2010 macbook pro coreduo went out of commission in spring 2018, i upgraded the hdd and ram based on apples recommendations when i took it after it being dropped and my "harddrive crashing". Im a novice but at the same time competent so i proceeded to change the items and figured why not get a hdd caddy, so swapped the optical drive and plan to get a ssd lol even tho i put the hdd into the caddy until i spend the money but i was able to erase and first aid both just attempting something but after selecting install MacOs by holding the "option key" and as well attempting my ethernet cable and internet recovery option to no avail. If someone can please guide me to concrete information or help me i am trying to resurrect this great laptop to its galore. I dont remember what the software was at the time but i usually updated so spring 2018 high sierra was more than likely running, thanks in advance hopefully i can receive some sort of help. Time Machine not showing recent backups when trying to restore Posted: 07 Feb 2020 09:54 AM PST Backed up my MacBook Pro periodically to a hard drive using Time Machine, and most recently just before having the laptop worked on. The computer's drive was wiped, and when trying to restore it, the most recent backup to restore from is years old. Has anyone else had this happen? Any advice, please? [link] [comments] |
How to Change my Apple ID and iCloud Email Address Posted: 07 Feb 2020 03:27 PM PST So I'm changing my name soon and I want to change my Apple ID to reflect this I've spoken to somebody from Apple Support and I'm not confident that everything will change over properly without any of my data being lost I'd like my email address to be the same as well, so I can send and receive emails from this new address I'm finding a lot of the guides confusing so I would really appreciate help Does changing your email address delete your emails My current address ends in @me.com, can I still have one of those or is it just @icloud.com now Thank you [link] [comments] |

Restrict camera app, but allow other apps to use the camera Posted: 07 Feb 2020 02:45 PM PST Trying to set up some iPads for students to use at a school. They need to be able to scan QR codes and things of that nature, so they need the camera to be usable. I have downloaded a QR code scanner app specifically for that purpose rather than the one built into the camera. But I do not want them taking selfies and using photo booth and the likes. Is there a way to get rid of the camera app, or even just disable it, while still allowing other apps to use the camera? [link] [comments] |
Help with Pages fonts and the "proportional to" symbol size Posted: 07 Feb 2020 09:58 AM PST Hey guys, I usually use MS word. But I started using pages, and for the most, part its pretty good. Im a big fan of text shortcuts, and one shortcut I use while typing is \propto. Which is replaced by the ∝ symbol. As you can see the proportional symbol is tiny on reddit, and its also tiny in Pages. In MS word, however, the symbol is much larger. I think this is because Word has fonts such as Calibri, which use much larger/readable proportional symbols. Does anyone know how I could fix the symbol size or perhaps import the entire Calibri font (all symbols included) to be used in Pages? Im not very computer savvy, so if your solution involves terminal please make it step by step! thanks. [link] [comments] |
Using MacBook Air SSB as an external USB drive Posted: 07 Feb 2020 01:07 PM PST My laptop broke last week. I want to bring some of my data from my old laptop to my new one, but in order to do that, I have to actually remove my old SSD and somehow get the data off of that. The old MacBook Air is an early 2015 model and the SSD is 3.5 inches (I think). What hardware do I need in order to get the data off of my old SSD onto my new MacBook Air? I don't need an enclosure, all I want is an adapter that can convert SATA to USB that is compatible with my SSD. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Pictures uploaded on Messenger Day appear different on other phones | iPhone 6S Posted: 07 Feb 2020 12:49 PM PST Hello, my girlfriend wants to add something on her Messenger Day, but everytime she uploads anything, it gets screwed. She sees the picture normally, as it should look like, but on my phone (Xiaomi Mi 9) it looks like if it was zoomed in. On my friend's phone it looks zoomed out. Do you know how to fix this problem or is this normal? Thank you for answers. [link] [comments] |

Remote support software for helping the elderly & inept with their iPhone? Posted: 07 Feb 2020 10:59 AM PST I am in the difficult position of having to be tech support for my elderly mother. Against my advice, since I am an Android user, she got an iPhone, so now every time she has a problem I get the call. But without seeing the screen like I can do with her PC I can't help her because of my unfamiliarity with Apple. Honestly, even trying to lead someone through screens when you both have the same devices often isn't easy, but not having the same system makes it insane. Is there a simple & dependable remote control app so I can log into her phone and take control to solve her problems? I use Teamviewer for the PC, but a review said it was terrible and complicated to set up on the iPhone, specifically saying it was the opposite of what an elder support app should be. Any suggestions appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Help with iMessage on iPhone 11 Posted: 07 Feb 2020 10:18 AM PST I was messaging my daughter the other night and I noticed all my chats in iMessage went to grey icons, even contacts with a picture became a grey circle with initials. I checked my contacts and the photos are there, I've gone into settings>messages and turn off and back on the photo option, and I've gone to iCloud and turned contacts off and back on. They were the few fixes I found but nothing has worked to put the contact pictures back, only one persons picture now shows up. Any help is appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Total BS that family share requires a credit card to be stored vs entering it each time. Posted: 07 Feb 2020 01:51 PM PST How is it more secure to keep my credit card on file vs me typing it in each time. You don't go to your local grocery store and say "hey, keep my card on file so I can make purchases anytime." You bring your credit card each time and use it each time. That is how the credit card is secure. It should be illegal what apple does requiring a card just because it's in their "terms and conditions". [link] [comments] |
HELP. ‘Purchase cannot be completed’ Posted: 07 Feb 2020 06:16 AM PST I've been making purchases via gift cards for a couple years now without any hitch (I never use credit/debit cards) Mainly because there's no official Apple store in my country, and none of my cards seem to work on the App Store. And so I have my device on US store so I could easily redeem the US iTune cards. So far it didn't give me any trouble. But ever since yesterday I'm unable to make purchases? Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? (Besides the obvious wrong stores, I don't have a choice) Yes I've rebooted my phone, updated all apps, and yes there is money in my account and I don't have any outstanding purchases, but still doesn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated! (Specifically something that doesn't involve contacting Apple support because it's not available for my country) [link] [comments] |
