Copy (Not sync) selected Music from Mac to iPhone Posted: 22 Feb 2020 08:13 PM PST How do I copy some audio albums from Macbook Pro Catalina (10.15.3) to iPhone 6S (13.3.1)? Previously, with iTunes, I was just able to drag and drop the album from Mac to iphone connected with cable. Now, with separate Music App and from Finder, it wants to sync all/partial the audio files between Mac and iPhone. I googled the issue but all information seems to be either for old iTunes or "syncing" between iPhone and Mac (including Apple support links mention syncing only). I don't want to sync whole or even selected audio library from Mac to iPhone as iphone doesn't have enough storage. Just want to drag and drop two audio files from Mac to iPhone. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 22 Feb 2020 09:57 PM PST Hey everyone - I'm wanting to buy a Mac mini 2012 but I'm torn on what to do: Quad core or dual core? Either way, it has to have 8-16gb ram, and SSD is a must. But I'm really stick between.. so I need the quad core... but long term, it probably makes sense? I work from home everyday. Running a MacBook 12 inch (m5, 8gb, 500ssd) with a 27 inch Samsung monitor rn. 5-7 google chrome windows Spark email client iMessage Franz RingCentral RingCentral meetings (video chat) Usually my MacBook is fine, but definitely had some moments of laggy. I'm looking for something that will work long term for work. Daily use, 7 days a week, 10-12 hours. I run two businesses from home and work a day job all from the house/office. [link] [comments] |

Didn't use my Macbook Air for a week. Now the battery won't work. Posted: 22 Feb 2020 09:26 PM PST I had a Macbook Air, 13 inches, from 2015. I passed it on to my brother after doing a factory reset and everything was fine with it when I had it. However, from what I've been told, my mother held onto it for a week, in which it wasn't turned on or used before handing it to my brother. When he finally charged it and turned it on after that week of no use the battery was useless. Nothing happened to it beyond that first week of inactivity, but now it can't work unless it's charging. The computer says it's at 100% but if you disconnect it it dies 30 seconds later. Updated systems, reboted it, did the basics but nope. I'm beyond confused, it's getting on with age, 700 cycles, but its battery was perfectly good when I had it. I tested it out after the reset and it worked just as fine. Is there a reason why a week of inactivity would cause this? I'm thinking about replacing the battery but before that I want to be sure if it's the battery or something connecting it or whatever. I don't know how much a battery replacement would cost, but if the problem is something else that costs more, heck, maybe I should just get this kid a Chrome book and hold a funeral for my baby. Keep getting popup to enter password for an Old Apple ID/email that no longer exists/cannot sign out Posted: 22 Feb 2020 02:35 PM PST iPad Pro 12.9 with IOS 13.1.3 Posting on behalf of a family member - would love to help to get rid of this annoying issue -- Periodically (30-60 seconds it seems?) on the ipad the apple popup comes up to sign into the apple ID - however the email associated with the ID no longer exists. When you go to iforgot or apple ID it says apple ID does not exist. The ipad is signed in with two appleids -- the users new and current email is signed into the app store. However their old non-existent appleid and email is signed in as the main sign in. How can I sign out of an appleid that doesn't exist? Please any insight would be most appreciated. The user is my uncle. He's a 73 year old veteran and he just clicks cancel every 30 seconds this thing pops up on his ipad, apparently he has been doing this for 3 years. fml [link] [comments] |

iPhone photo issue with windows 10 PC. Posted: 22 Feb 2020 07:45 PM PST My dad is trying to get all his photos off of his iPhone 6 and he has over 14,000 of them. The phone shows it has over 14,000 and iTunes shows it as well. Windows file explorer is able to access the phone but only ~1,800 of them are there and I was able to transfer those to the PC but the other ~12,000 are nowhere to be found. In iTunes if I try selecting the sync photos option it wants to delete the ~12,000 photos before it will start syncing photos with the PC. Then enabling iCloud for photos wants to do the same. Does anyone know of some freeware that is able to access the phone to get all these photos off? I've also tried 2 different PCs and they both are doing the same exact thing. Both PCs are authorized with iTunes as well. [link] [comments] |
Looking for suggestions. Time machine and conflicting OS's. Posted: 22 Feb 2020 03:03 PM PST I have a 2015 MacBook that is running 10.14.8 that I do not want to update to Catalina because I would have to pay to upgrade some software that I won't need in less than 100 days. I also have a 2014 Mac Mini that is running 10.15.3 and is my main machine at home. Three weeks ago the mini's Time Machine could no longer find the networked drive that both backup to. I've since read that Mojave and Catalina are unable to backup to the same drive do to differences in backup formats. I'd like to keep both Macs using Time Machine without having to purchase another drive since by late spring I'll be able to update the MacBook and solve the issue. [link] [comments] |

i just lost a ton of my photos, is there anything i can do? Posted: 22 Feb 2020 06:17 PM PST im very distraught about this, and any help that i can get would be fantastic! my family took my phone in to the t-mobile store today to exchange it for a new one (we're switching to t-mobile as our provider and hopping on their new phone for new customers deal). the worker there told my mom who told me that i didn't have to back up my phone before we did the exchange, which was great news for me because i've had trouble backing up my phone (previously a 6s, the t-mobile deal got me an 11) and haven't been able to do so for quite some time. it turns out that the worker was wrong, and when they did the transfer they lost all of my photos from the last four years, which for me is my entire high school career. i wasn't there to stop the transfer, as i was out running errands and meeting up with friends. is there anything at all that i can do to get these photos back, or are they all lost forever? thanks for any help you can give! Mouse/Bluetooth issues, default boot in recovery mode? Posted: 22 Feb 2020 03:31 PM PST The other day, my iMac (mid-2011, OS 10.13.6) randomly stopped working with my USB mouse. I tried using other USB mice, but nothing worked, even though all mice I used worked correctly on another, older Mac. I switched to using my Wacom tablet for a mouse, and the keyboard functioned normally, so I wasn't entirely bothered. Now, after using the tablet on a Windows computer, it won't register as connected with its driver. New Bluetooth devices the iMac has never paired to before won't even show up on the list of devices. Neither USB flash drives nor USB mice work, but the keyboard does, and the computer now boots in Recovery Mode on default, though I can hold Option on start-up to select my normal disk drive. There's something odd there, though. There are two Recovery drives, both labeled "Recovery-10.13.6", as well as my default drive. Is this because I performed a factory reset/OS reinstall on my iMac last week? PRAM, NVRAM, and SMC resets have been no help at any point. Any idea what the issue is? [link] [comments] |
How to tell if games have controller support-iOS/iPadOS Posted: 22 Feb 2020 03:29 PM PST Is there a way to tell if games have controller support or not? Obviously free games are fine to try myself, but would like to know prior to purchasing certain games. Edit: games not included in Apple Arcade specifically. [link] [comments] |

Problem with my new Imac periphericals Posted: 22 Feb 2020 03:24 PM PST Hi, I need help for this very annoying problem for which I didn't find any answer on the web. I just bought a new iMac last week and connected my old wireless keyboard/mouse. It's a Microsoft 5000 mouse and a Microsoft 5050 Comfort keyboard, both of which were working great on my old 2011 iMac, but now they seem unresponsive the moment I pull them a bit too far (about 60-70cm). My new mac is set up at the exact same spot as my old one and I just don't get what could be the problem. I even tried another set of keyboard and mouse which I use for my TV at a 5 or 6 meters range and they work great, but the moment I plug them in my mac the distance seem to be a huge problem. Also, aside from the printer I've been using for years, I don't have any other wireless hardware that could interfere with the connexion... any solutions for me? [link] [comments] |
Merging separated chapters of audiobooks in apple iBooks Posted: 22 Feb 2020 03:24 PM PST Sometime when im adding audiobooks to ibooks (by dragging the mp3's) they end up like different books instead of different chapters in the same book. Is there any way to merge them into one book? I cant see any way to change the metadata in any way. iBooks is not very good att editing your books, whether audiobooks or epub etc. [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to download messages from iCloud to your phone? Posted: 22 Feb 2020 07:34 AM PST I no longer wanna use iCloud. I went to turn off iCloud for Notes and it told me it would delete all notes from icloud off my phone, I figured that just meant the notes I made on other devices but nope, it deleted everything. I turned it back on and they showed up again. I'm guessing the same is true with messages? It doesn't give me an option to download them like photos. Am I missing something? Surely there must be a way to download my 10GB of messages from iCloud? [link] [comments] |

The story my Immortal Late 11’ Macbook Pro, and where to go from here Posted: 22 Feb 2020 02:26 PM PST So on a cold winter day in 2011, I went to the Apple Store and bought a 13' Late 11 MBP. I was in middle school at the time and was getting into making music. I dropped the computer out of a 2 story window. No problems aside from a few dents, started right up. I lost the computer for 2 years (long story), and eventually found it in my garage after 2 Chicago winters getting down to -20°F and up to 110°F. When I found it, I threw it on the charger and it booted right up. It also recorded the song that my friend and I used to start our careers in music and get us recognized. It wrote my college essays that got me into schools. It DJ'd parties, it produced stupid video projects, and It provided me with thousands of hours of entertainment and joy over the years. Worth every penny. The logic board started showing signs of it's age and both USB ports stopped working, but that didn't stop it from booting nearly instantaneously with an SSD and ram upgrade. A month ago, It was sitting on my basement floor when my basement flooded and the device sat underwater for approximately 24 hours. When I discovered it, I opened it up and hit it with some alcohol and let it dry for a few days. When I tried to boot it, you guessed it, first try and no problems to report a little over a month later. This device will not die no matter what I do, and at this point I refuse to let it. Although I have a new laptop I use daily and a Mac Mini I use at home, I still want to find some kind of use for it until one day it gives up for good. My question is- what can I do without USB's? I have a thunderbolt (1?) port on the device that's confirmed working but haven't had any luck finding a thunderbolt to USB adapter. It was most recently being used as an audio interface for a little project, but that interface is USB only and I'd really rather not replace it. I'm not sure it's worth replacing the logic board on with it not currently having a designated use, but damn it do I want her to live on!! Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
