Recently, I have noticed that a few movies/tv shows I own are only available on my iTunes library (do not port to Google Play/Movies Anywhere to stream). So I'm considering purchasing an Apple TV. I only want it to stream HD content from my iTunes library. Will the 3rd generation do the job? I've considered purchasing the 4th generation but I've noticed 3rd generations go for about $30-$50 on average. That's a $100 minimum savings. I know about the additional storage/Apple TV subscription/OS/longer support life - but I have ZERO interest in that and don't see the point of spending money on features I have no care about. | The stuff I paid for doesn’t work Posted: 31 Dec 2019 11:58 PM PST I got an Apple TV 4K a few months ago. Recently Netflix and other paid content often has problems. First, Netflix sometimes says my saved password is wrong and won't log in, but other times it's fine, even though I didn't change anything. Other times it just says "problem logging in" or "problem loading this content." Its not an account issue because I can use Netflix on my phone just fine when it does this on Apple TV. A few days ago I bought a movie from the store, and when I tried to watch it last night it did the same thing - "there's a problem loading this content." I know it's not a network issue because YouTube works on the Apple TV and the WiFi works on my phone and laptop. Finally, there are movies and TV shows I bought from the iTunes Store years ago. Now when I try to watch them on Apple TV it says I haven't even bought them. The only option is to buy or rent. Any ideas what is happening or suggestions of what to do? Needless to say it's a bit irritating when you pay for something and can't use it! Anyone else having this problem? [link] [comments]  |
| PS4 Dual Shock stopped working with Nimian Legends BrightRidge Posted: 31 Dec 2019 11:48 PM PST Paired 2 x PS4 Dual Shock controllers. Installed Nimian Legends BrightRidge, played for a bit. Noticed increasing lag and stopped playing. Week later connected the controllers again, launched the game and it completely ignores any controller input. Posted: 31 Dec 2019 09:58 PM PST I've been using Apple TV for 3 years and my dad is pissed that I installed it for him because he's old and he can no longer just turn on the tv and flip through local channels. Yes I tried buying a separate antenna. Didn't work. Yes I downloaded one local news app. Locals news app is filled with clutter. I want to be able to use local channel browsing the same way I did before Apple TV while also being able to use Apple TV. Is this possible or not? [link] [comments]  |
| Problems with Harmony Hub and remote Posted: 31 Dec 2019 09:46 PM PST Anyone have any tips for me for getting this remote to work with Apple TV? I can't get the buttons to "learn" properly when going through the Apple settings. When I finally get it to work with modifications it doesn't stay working. Fast forward won't work, menu won't work. Sorry if this sounds convoluted but it's driving me crazy. I know there is a live sports section but haven't seen anything for other content. | Any harm in setting ATV to 50Hz ? Posted: 31 Dec 2019 04:48 PM PST I have huge issues with my Vizio TV P65-F1 and setting the Apple TV to 4K Dolby Vision 60Hz. ATV will often go to a black screen which switch apps or just going back to a previous screen when set to 60Hz. But if I set it at 50Hz it works great. I don't notice any flickering or other issues but didn't don't really understand what the Hz's do. I'm also in the US if that makes a difference. I have quality HDMI cables from monoprice and have tried many several and different TV inputs and at 60Hz it always has issues. [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 31 Dec 2019 04:37 PM PST I just purchased a Apple TV 4k. After installing SlingTV, it will freeze after a minute or so of watching live TV. I have updated AppleTV, closed all other apps, restarted AppleTV and reisntalled SlingTV app. The device is connected through wired network. Roku and the Windows apps have no problems with SlingTV freezing. I also have made sure no other devices are streaming video. I am on a 100mbs connection. i am at a lost of what is causing this problems. [link] [comments]  |

| Apple TV AirPlaying to another room on wake Posted: 31 Dec 2019 07:16 AM PST I'm curious if anyone else is having this issue. Sometimes when I wake up my Apple TV, the audio is also being routed to a AirPlay 2 enabled Sonos speaker in another room. So I have to hold TV and disable that speaker pretty frequently. I can count the number of times I AirPlay from the Apple TV on one hand, so it shouldn't be remembering anything. The HomeKit app has the Apple TV assigned to a different room than the speaker, so I'm not sure if this is a HomeKit issue or an Apple TV issue? Has anyone else experienced this, and if so does anyone have a workaround? [link] [comments]  |
