How I discovered root access iOS 13.3.1 beta Posted: 07 Jan 2020 03:14 AM PST I reported this to Apple a few months ago: Root file access on iOS 13.3 (and 13.3.1 beta) I went in to safari and typed file:/// Whatever folder path I want to choose just put this # after it (sometimes not necessary) EG: file:///name/of/path# Then I hit load page in safari Next I chose the share button and save to home screen as bookmark Next I shared bookmark from home screen to files app or shu or third party file app If those didn't work then airdrop did This is how I have root file access Sometimes I didnt even have to save as bookmark to iPhone home screen I just saved the file path url directly to files app. I noticed that sometimes extra # at the end helps elevate file permissions. So i discovered if one # doesn't work then sometimes three does. ### I also discovered if I saved file:///# as a bookmark to home screen on iPhone then shared that bookmark via airdrop I could see it would say it was going to transfer the entire copy of the iPhone over. ❤️❤️❤️ Love all that money that Apple (the worlds richest company) never sent me for the dozens of bug reports I filled out 👊🖕👏 editThis may seem a bit benign but Apple knows that apps are also on the home screen and many have safari browser-like capabilities. This should've been fixed on day one. Foolishness [link] [comments]

Posted: 07 Jan 2020 06:52 AM PST If this is the wrong sub, I apologize and would appreciate a sub recommendation! So I was playing a game on my phone and didn't want to wait for an in game timer so I set my date and time forward to speed it up (yeah it's cheating, but I'm impatient). Before long, I was a week in the future. I got a message that I quickly responded to without thinking to change my date and time back. After realizing I sent a text 5 days in the future (which the recipient still received), I went back to setting the date automatically. That message stayed at the bottom of the chat because it's the "most recent" message. I deleted that message from the chat, turned my phone off and turned it back on and tried changing notification settings but nothing has worked so far. I've done this before and it went back to normal once the real date caught up, but I would like to be able to fix it before then as it's someone I'm in regular contact with. Messages are still sending and receiving fine, but no notifications are coming up just for that one person. [link] [comments]

Screen time passcode will not update Posted: 07 Jan 2020 02:09 AM PST Had to reveal screen time passcode for an emergency. Now when I try to change the passcode it simply does not update. I put in the new passcode, it asks me to confirm by putting it again, and it appears to go without a hitch. But when it comes to downtime, the new passcode doesn't work and the old one does. Havent seen this issue reported elsewhere, any ideas? [link] [comments]

Forgot Screen Time Passcode! (IOS 13.3) Posted: 07 Jan 2020 06:38 AM PST I made a screen time passcode but I forgot the password! I tried backup viewers to look for the pin I also tried PinFinder but most of them are for IOS 12. I tried restoring using the "Reset All Content And Settings" which isnt possible since I need the screentime passcode still, so I tried using Itunes which still doesn't work since I haven't been able to get a new mac and don't have the latest Itunes (Im still using mac 10.9.5OSX). I've tried another mac (MacBook latest version) but I don't have enough space and I can't backup on it! Please tell me there's another way to fix this! [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Jan 2020 10:40 PM PST I've been trying to uninstall Nike Run Club app on my phone and it just won't go away! It deletes and then reappears hours or days later. Anyone ever had this happen before? There is an update for it available when it reappears too. I've tried - uninstalling without installing the update - installing the update then uninstalling - rebooting the phone at all stages of uninstalling/installing - signing out of my apple id on the phone prior to uninstalling and signing back in after uninstalling Basically everything short of resetting my phone entirely (which is just a major pain...) Ever seen anything like it? [link] [comments]
iOS update question 10.2 -> 13.x Posted: 07 Jan 2020 05:22 AM PST I've stayed where I am for a very long time due to a necessity to maintain certain apps in a working order with zero chance they stop working. Specifically I'm talking about Google Authenticator. Restoring from backup will NOT bring my 2fa codes back which will effectively lock me out of my crypto accounts. I'm fully aware I can remove all of 2fa accounts, recreate them, screencap the qr code, save, encrypt, then have access indefinitely by rescanning the codes at will. The issue is account lockout timers. Once removing the 2fa accounts get locked for up to 3 days due to security reasons and hacks. Then reapplying them the same thing. All of this has prevented me from updating due to the fear of truly getting locked out of my accounts. Lose 2fa and it's a nightmare to regain access to your accounts if it's possible at all. Also, properly licensed exchanges allow one account per ID which could create additional issues if I can't get the account closed. Anyway, it's a huge pain to deal with no matter what option I choose. That being said, my device and software are aging and I'm losing support for many other things quickly. So the question is, can I safely update from iOS 10 to iOS 13 without having to reset to factory, "fresh install", restore from backup, or whatever else?? Best practice is to do a clean install on this big of a jump but in my case, this is not an option. [link] [comments]
Portrait photos as jpg vs heic Posted: 06 Jan 2020 09:24 PM PST I have iOS 13 on an iPhone XR. I just noticed that Portrait photos are saved in Jpg format vs HEIC. Curious as to why that is? My regular photos are saved in HEIC [link] [comments]

How does you feel about the switch to Haptic Touch? Posted: 06 Jan 2020 03:30 PM PST I ask this because I wonder what the iPhone gained from stepping away from *3D Touch to Haptic Touch. *3D Touch is faster by all means for users capable of utilizing it, but simultaneously supported Haptic Touch for users who couldn't. Personally, after recently upgrading to the Pro, I am disappointed by the successor of *3D Touch. *changed Force to 3D [link] [comments]
Apps I don’t own in screen time? Posted: 06 Jan 2020 03:42 PM PST Just checked my screen time and it seems to be a bit over the top saying ive got 10 hours + when there's no way ive used my phone that much today and it's showing that ive got 1 hour 30 screen time from "BBC Sport" which i don't even have installed and "Amazon" which I used on the browser earlier but don't have an app installed. It's a used iPhone 7 plus and ive had it about a month is it a chance my apple ID has been hacked or something, first apple product so my apple ID isn't logged into anywhere else?? Camera settings: Hugh Efficiency or Most Compatible? Posted: 06 Jan 2020 05:40 PM PST Just curious, as someone who plans to retain family, vacation, and all photos I take for a long time, am I better off going most compatible, instead of high efficiency. If for some reason I ever changed to a non apple device, does HEIF open, or would they all need to be converted to JPEG first? What setting do you use? [link] [comments]

Posted: 06 Jan 2020 08:05 PM PST Basically, I want to check that the phone hasn't been reported stolen so that we could possibly unlock it. Is there a site or something to check? [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Jan 2020 03:54 PM PST I had a similar problem on my Mac. I turned on screentime today without setting a passcode only to find out that it had a passcode already set. I didn't put a passcode but I think it has something to do with the sharing of screentime between devices through iCloud. This is very annoying as it hampers a lot of my productivity. Does anyone know a fix to this? [link] [comments]
Help! New to ios but seems like iOS 13 mobile hotspot is permanently broken Posted: 06 Jan 2020 12:48 PM PST Have a month old 11 pro max and neither my wife nor I can get laptops or our children's kindle fires to work on the hotspot. Googling found thousands of other similar complaints. This is very frustrating as even our 3 yr old Samsung's had fully functional mobile hotspots. [link] [comments]
