| Photos posted to shared albums not retaining location geodata Posted: 18 Jan 2020 06:02 AM PST Hello all In my quest to find a solution to have one comon photo library on my Mac that contains all photos that everyone wants to save, I've come up with the following idea: create a shared photo album and share it with everyone in the family. Create an automator script on my mac that detects new photos added to this album and import it to the library. So far in my limited testing it works ok, the only problem I've found is that the photos added to the shared photo library do not retain location data, even if the option is set to keep it before posting the photo. | How to backup a phone with an unusable screen Posted: 18 Jan 2020 12:06 AM PST Unfortunately, I dropped my iPhone 8 and completely broke the screen to the point where it's unusable. It wasn't backed up. I tried connecting it to my computer to back it up to iTunes, but this requires me to allow this on my phone, which isn't possible due to the broken screen. Anyway, i normally dont use "Location Services", but i needed it and i turned on it. | Iphone stuck on "updating apple ID settings" Posted: 18 Jan 2020 07:04 AM PST So I got a new phone and gave my wife my old one (iphone 8) we've been trying for like 3 days to get it set up properly. it keeps telling her that she needs to update her apple ID settings. So we do and then it just stays hung on the screen that says "updating apple ID settings". I've left it there for hours connected to good internet and it does not resolve. I've done a hard reset and erased all content 4 or 5 times and tried while connected to a computer and itunes/icloud several times. I've also logged out of everything and even changed the passwords. | How energy efficient is WiFi and Bluetooth scanning? Posted: 17 Jan 2020 09:21 PM PST I have the 11 Pro Max and I want to have improved location accuracy and as such, Bluetooth and WiFi need to be always on I believe. Is this a drain on battery life or is it an "old tale". I've struggled to find anything on how efficient the Bluetooth and WiFi scanning are on the IPhones. Obviously if it's a significant drain of battery I will take the battery life over the accuracy. Edit: another quick question: Does my Bluetooth and WiFi need to be blue in the control centre for this to work, or can I tap them and leave them in the grayed state? [link] [comments]  | ||

| Can you unshare your contact card? Posted: 17 Jan 2020 10:14 PM PST For some reason I didn't realize that sharing my contact card would allow people to see my home address. It's so easy to share with the updated operating system, I always just say yes to sharing. I didn't even think about it. I recently shared it with someone I probably shouldn't have, now I'm freaked out that this guy knows where I live. Is there a way for me to unshare that information? And, is there a way for me to set a home address to use with Siri but not share with via my contact card in the future? I'm fine with blocking this person if that's the way, I just don't know that will work, since I assume his iPhone has it saved into his contacts already automatically. So previously I was used to see location preview from "find my" directly in iMessage with the person who shares a location with me.
