    Yesterday I used this czech video site https://www.televizeseznam.cz/sluzba/stream watching fullscreen video. They autoplay next video endlessly, I fall asleep and morning my Macbook was off because of dead battery. I pluged it in, turned on with "power" key. At the screen where you choose users, I heard sound from video, I chose user, was typing my password, but before I could wrote it whole and confirm it, fullscreen video popted up and I was logged in.

    It surprised me, so maybe I am wrong, but I am 99% sure, that I did not hit Enter when entering password, this is kind of "move" you remember. I think I typed maybe half of my password when it logged me.

    Time Machine through a second mac attached disk?

    Hi r/macOS ! After searching the web and various threads, I couldn't find an answer so allow to me to ask here.

    I bought a new 8Gb WD elements which will be more than enough for my files and now I have an unused 3Gb WD elements.

    My main computer is a Macbook Pro that I use from time to time and a macmini which is a server and always on.

    I'm using Time Machine to backup my MBP with an attached small portable drive but I'm trying to make my setup more seamless and without me attaching the drive every once in a while.

    So here is what I'm trying to do : use my 3Gb WD Elements as the Time Machine destination for both my MBP and mini. Would it work if : - I partition the 3GBHDD in 2 Time Machine folder (for each mac) - attach it to the always on macmini - have my MBP backup remotely (same local network but not attached physically) ??

    Even if it works, are there any potential issues such as 1/ unstable connection between MBP and TM, 2/ slow data transfer due to the doubleTM folders in the same drive, 3/ can't restore from backup ? etc

    Both MBP and macmini's OS is High Sierra, not Catalina. Any insight or advice is welcome. If there is another way, I'm also open to hear about it ! Thanks in advance and happy holidays everyone !

    Upgraded mac OS Mojave v10.14.6's App Store keeps offering updated iMovie (v10.1.14; 12/10/2019) in standard accounts.

    A couple days ago, I upgraded my client's 2012 13.3" MacBook Pro's mac OS Sierra v10.12.6 to Mojave v10.14.6. Its App Store keeps offering updated iMovie (v10.1.14; 12/10/2019) in standard accounts. I already got the updated iMovie from App Store under administrator account and its Apple ID account. Why is App Store still showing this updated app in standard accounts? Do I really need to relogin, redownload, and (re?)install to make it go away?

    Issue with Favorites and password

    When I open Safari all my Favorites display their icon, except Yahoo and Weather which show a letter. Ex : Y for Yahoo. I don't know how to fix this please. On my iPhone, Yahoo displays his icon but not in my Mac.

    I also have a problem with my user password. I use an "AZERTY" keyboard and numerical keyboard is activated on my Mac.

    For example let's say my password is "1234", when I created this I used the numerical keyboard + Capital Letters + Numbers, so my password was created as "1234", but when I turn on my Mac and enter my password it doesn't work with Capital Letters + Numbers. I need to use shift + Numbers. When I lock my session, I don't have this problem with my password and I can just use Capital Letters + Numbers.

    Running Catalina 10.15.2 - WiFi dropping issues

    Over the past few months my 2018 Macbook Pro has been dropping WiFi. I have tried creating a new WiFi location, renewing locations, restarting my computer, the list goes on and on. I can usually surf the web for maybe 20 minutes and then it will freeze and i can see that my WiFi has disconnected. I click it back on again, and i can surf for another 20 minutes before it gets dropped again, which is causing some frustration.

    Note: None of the other wifi connected devices in my house drop wifi.

    Is this a Catalina issue? I never ran into problems when using Mojave.

    Are there any work arounds for this that someone could suggest for me?

    "Imports" and "Last Import" in mac OS Mojave v10.14.6's Photos v4.0 app.

    Hi.

    A couple days ago, I upgraded a clients' 2012 13.3" MacBook Pro's mac OS Sierra v10.12.6 (before it was Mountain Lion v10.8.x and then another MacBook Pro from 2008 with v10.5.x)) to Mojave v10.14.6. In each mac OS account (1 admin + 2 standard levels), we imported new photos and videos from their own iPhone (4S, 6+, and v11 Pro Max) into its Photos v4.0 app via USB cable (they don't use the clouds and wireless).

    We noticed there are now two imports: "Imports" and "Last Import" in Photos app's Library. Imports showed the newer medias, but "Last Import" showed the older medias before the major OS upgrade. It seems like many users also had this issue since High Sierra v10.13.x according to https://www.google.com/search?q=imports+%22last+import%22+mojave+photos+app. Did Apple forget to remove/change this? Repairing doesn't fix it. We were unable to manually delete/hide it too if so. Is it possible to do that? These two imports will confuse the non-tech clients. :/

    Smooth scrolling with mouse reminder

    I spend most of my day scrolling the web and pdf documents and always had that feeling that with mouse scroll i was constantly losing track of where i was.

    Just found out about mos, seems it has been mentioned before, but it helped me so much that i felt that i should remind everyone that it exists. https://github.com/Caldis/Mos/blob/master/README.enUS.md

    Sorry if this looks like advertising, but this was a game changer for me that may just improve productivity since i don't have those "where am i" moments while scrolling with a mouse.

    So I got an iMac this christmas and I was trying to sign in to the app store but for when I try to sign in this is what happened

    so I open the app store, it asks me to sign in so I sign in, it asks me to review my info, so I click review, then another prompt asks me to review so I press review, but then it pops up the pop up is stuck loading and it says error signing in then it asks me to sign in for account creation so I sign in then, it goes through the same process. Btw the loading info pop up is still there.

    so I need help.

    New to Mac, questionable battery life on new 2019 MBP?

    Hey folks, I just got the new 2019 13in MBP. It's been pretty great overall but I'm a little concern about how fast the batter goes.

    I'm mostly on Safari with 10-15 tabs open, writing documents on Google Docs.

    In just the last two hours I've been on my MacBook, I'm already down to 54% from 94%. Is this normal?

    How do I download Catalina as a full download rather than an update?

    Long story short my Mac drive got wiped, and I need to create a bootable usb to reinstall. It's for my Mac Pro but I also have a MacBook Air, so I'm trying to download the new OS as a file and then mount it to a bootable usb.

    All I can get hold of though is an update. When clicking "get" in the AppStore, it just starts looking for updates on this machine.

    Choose what programs use high performance GPU

    So I have a 15" late 2016 MacBook Pro (Touch Bar and butterfly keys), which has an integrated GPU, along with a big boy GPU with higher performance for more demanding software. Said software seems to be chosen automatically to use the high performance GPU as seen in the activity monitor. However, some of those programs I use don't use it automatically, but they perform significantly better if they do. Currently the only way for me to get them to use that GPU is if I have something demanding like Photoshop or Final Cut Pro open that requires the GPU be enabled (while charging I think too) or I turn off automatic graphics switching in system preferences. While the latter I currently use, I often forget to turn it back on when I'm on battery power. Is there a way to choose what programs use the high performance GPU? Let me know if you need me to elaborate on anything. Thanks in advance! 😁

    sidecar extremely unstable

    I keep getting lots of times issues with connection to iPad timing out.
    I contacted apple multiple times about this and they were not able to fix it.

    Does anyone know of a way to escalate this to the right apple team to get this sorted out.

    This is super frustrating that I cannot use this as I planned to do when I'm on the road.

    Installing Windows already a good idea? (16" MBP)

    Hi there,

    A few weeks ago I got my new 16" MacBook Pro. In the beginning I heard that installing Windows via Bootcamp wasn't a good idea, as the drivers weren't optimized, yet, and thus gaming was really glitchy. Has this been fixed now? Anyone here who plays some games on his 16" MBP?

    I have been contemplating switching to mac but as a heavy bash user I have some commands ingrained in me like alt+D/F/B for delete/forward/back word. So I went to check out the experience and found opt+D/F/B to output some nonessential special characters. The question I have then is if this was due to me testing a mac with a local language keyboard (the only one available) and opt+D/F/B works as expected on american keyboards? If so it is not an issue since I will be buy a mac with an american keyboard anyway.

    Can't find a proper solution after several attempts... Does anyone know how to get back those icons on columns? I remember that look like HDD or something when connected to my MacBook Pro. Both works under macOS Mojave the latest version. Thanx in advance!
