Posted: 25 Dec 2019 04:36 PM PST I'm trying to figure out if it possible to connect 2 pairs of Airpods to the same Macbook (running Catalina) to share audio, the same way you can now do it with iOS13 I've found some tutorials setting up a multi output like this (https://www.macrumors.com/how-to/output-mac-audio-two-pairs-headphones/) but I'm wondering if there is a way to do it "natively" like in iOS13 or if this not possible yet The idea would be to have 2 pairs of Airpods connected to the same Macbook to watch a movie [link] [comments]

Posted: 25 Dec 2019 12:24 PM PST Does anyone know of a way to change the scrolling direction on a mouse while keeping in the same on the trackpad? I have a generic wireless mouse and I can't get used to the backwards scroll wheel on it. But when i change the scroll direction on the mouse in system preferences, it also changes it on the track pad and vice versa. Does anyone know of a way to separate the scrolling direction from the mouse to the trackpad? [link] [comments]

Anyone had massive issues with Photos? Posted: 25 Dec 2019 08:47 PM PST If so, are you using a different photo program, have you found a way around ios13/Catalina sync issues? Problems since iOS 13/Catalina: Can't sync photos or videos to any device via cable or WiFi All photos have wrong exif data and are out of order thus making smart albums unusable Photos missing And more, just these off the top of my head. Thanks! [link] [comments]
macOS Catalina exporting all keychain items (login/passwords) Posted: 25 Dec 2019 09:41 PM PST Anyone has a working solution? I tried methods that used to work on previous versions of the system but nothing that works on Catalina. I know that there is Apple Script but does it really allows to query keychain to return credentials? [link] [comments]

Looking for snapshot/cache of Safari as a last resort Posted: 25 Dec 2019 08:48 PM PST Hello everyone Is there anything on a Mac that takes a snapshot or cache of a blog you were writing, but that you closed before it was saved? (Here: in Safari web browser) For example, "local snapshots" or "saved application state"... Can't remember what it was called, but once there was something that took a local "photo" of the screen once in a while. I can't remember what it was called or where to find it (it's not a regular screen shot, I know what that is). Could be a great help figuring it out, thank you very much! 😔🙏🏻 [link] [comments]
WAS MY INFORMATION COMPROMISED?!??! Posted: 26 Dec 2019 01:14 AM PST For most of 2019, I had been using the free version of Betternet VPN on my iPhone. I did not have many problems with it. However, I came across this review:https://thebestvpn.com/reviews/betternet/ In this review the author, Rob Mardisalu, says, "It's undoubtedly popular, but Betternet might not be as secure as it seems. In 2017, several outlets reported the result of an academic study on VPN appsand whether they might be injecting malware or adware—or just not providing the security they advertised. Betternet was ranked among the ten worst. Many of the other apps in that list were removed from the app store, but Betternet is still around. So far, I haven't been able to find any evidence of Betternet injecting malware or doing anything else nefarious. But the fact that an academic study identified them as suspect is very worrying. As you can see, Betternet has more downloads than all of the other free VPN apps combined, which does lend it a bit of credibility. However, we'd much prefer that its AV-rank be significantly better than 13." This immediately alarmed me. I did more research and found this article:https://www.bestvpn.co/reviews/betternet-vpn/ in which the author, Muhammad Hamza Shahid, says, "However, Betternet's reputation has gone downhill since a CSIRO study revealed the provider sells adverts to users, which permit the installing of cookies onto devices." This was very troubling. I did some more research and went to the study that was repeatedly being cited. It appears that the article delt only with apps on the Google Play Store and on Android devices and not with apps on the Apple App Store. I believe this because the article said, "In this paper we provide a first comprehensive analysis of 283 Android apps that use the Android VPN permission, which we extracted from a corpus of more than 1.4 million apps on the Google Play store." The section in the study dealing with Betternet is 4.2, if anyone cares to do anymore research. (Also, it should be noted that this study is from 2016, so Betternet might have made gotten rid of these threats since then). Upon all of this new information, I deleted Betternet off of my iphone and I also deleted it off of my MacBook. I used both the free and paid versions on my MacBook, so my MacBook might not have been at as much risk as my iPhone (Some websites said the info in the CSIRO study only applied to the free version). I also ran Malwarebytes on my MacBook, while I had Betternet, and it found no threats, so everything might have been ok. So I have a few questions for you guys. Does the stuff mentioned in the CSIRO study apply to the IOS app or does it only apply to the Android app? Betternet has been approved by Apple and it is one of the highest rated VPN apps on the Apple App Store. Apple verifies each of the apps on its App Store to make sure they do not contain malware, viruses, or anything like that. So I think my information may not have been compromised. Also, Malwarebytes did not detect any threats on my MacBook. However, if I was exposed to the risks outlined in the CSIRO study, how worried should I be? Could critical information such as photos, videos, passwords, files, screenshots, and account data have been collected by third parties? Is there any way I can tell if my information was collected? Should I be worried about this? I am really just looking for peace of mind. I am kinda paranoid about this. Thank you guys, in advance, for your help. [link] [comments]

How long do you think the iMac 2015 will get major updates? Posted: 25 Dec 2019 12:47 PM PST
Posted: 25 Dec 2019 05:45 PM PST Background: Somehow my screencast software keeps crashing, and I was not able to open it at all. I was surprised it never happened to me before. So what I did was restarted my computer hoping the restart will resolve my problem. But it made things worse, everything stopped working. Even normal application like "Photos", "Terminal", "Chrome" started complaining. Solutions: I opened "/var/folders" from the finder menu and deleted all sub-folder except "zz" folder. After a reboot now everything seems fine. Not sure what was causing the exact problem, any idea? [link] [comments]

Virtualbox: Disc Utility Issue? Posted: 25 Dec 2019 07:19 PM PST I am able to get to the disk utility. I have followed this guide (https://www.howtogeek.com/289594/how-to-install-macos-sierra-in-virtualbox-on-windows-10/). I am incurring issues upon erasing the empty virtual drive in the sidebar. I click it, then click the "Erase" option. I did the following step as instructed: Name the drive "Macintosh HD," and leave the other two settings as-is: "Mac OS Extended Journaled" and "GUID Partition Map". Do not create an AFS partition, because it will not work and you'll have to start over with a new virtual hard drive. Click "Erase," then close Disk Utility when the process is complete. You'll be brought back to the main window. However, I am not given the option to re-install? The message I am getting is: The copy of the install Mac OS High Sierra is damaged and cannot be used to install Mac OS? Anybody know how to fix? [link] [comments]
Catalina Update: No Admin Account Posted: 25 Dec 2019 09:28 AM PST Hello, I am new to MacOs and this morning I updated my new 2017 iMac. When I finished, my profile now says "standard" and I am unable to make any changes. I googled it and discovered it seems to be a common bug? I read that you can fix the issue by going into the command prompt on bootup and putting in commands however, when I do this it says "mount failed with 77". I cant really find any fixes for this for Catalina. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you and Merry Christmas [link] [comments]
