Posted: 04 Nov 2019 03:53 PM PST Hey friends! So I recently broke the screen on my Mac book, however, it is still working fine and I checked the back and no other hardware was damaged in the accident. However, I am building a NEW PC and will not be using this Macbook anymore, does anybody know if any sites that would buy a broken macbook? or would anybody like to buy it hehe haha :) Thanks! Posted: 04 Nov 2019 07:00 PM PST Help!!! This is so aggravating, I'm just trying to transfer my data from my old phone that I backed up on my macbook (and I don't have enough icloud storage to do it that way) to my new IPhone 8, but when I try to connect it to itunes it says I need 10.11. AND the appstore says I have no updates, and when I try to update to 10.11 by downloading off the internet, it says I need 10.11 to download 10.11???? It makes no sense and I just wanna use my new phone already [link] [comments]

2011 mac mini for $300. Thoughts? Posted: 04 Nov 2019 10:02 AM PST I'm considering buying a 2011 mac mini off craigslist for $300. Here's what I know from the post: Like New Apple Computer iHome mini Desktop -500GB Hard Drive - Upgraded to 16 GB RAM - 4 USB -Lighting Bolt - SD Card -Headphone Jack I'm 28 years old and know a decent amount about computers, but would not consider myself an expert by any means. I intend to use it for some film editing, microsoft office, the internet and screenwriting software. Thoughts? Would this be a complete waste of time or do you think there's some merit in buying an older machine? Thank you! [link] [comments]

MacBook Pro Early 2011 - Shutdown/Restart is stuck at black screen with cursor Posted: 04 Nov 2019 07:36 PM PST Hey guys, Been crawling the internet for an answer for this one and called Apple Support but had no success. Last night I did the latest security update for my MBP 2011 and went to restart it to finish the installation. MBP went to a black screen with my cursor able to move around but wouldn't complete the full shutdown/restart. Ended up having to manual shutdown with the power button and when I come back to my desktop I still have the "need to restart to compete installation" prompt. Here's what I've tried as suggestions from other forums, but had no success: -entering recovery mode > terminal > deleting the AppleLogin.plist -resetting the PRAM and SMC -reinstalling the latest OS via recovery mode, this completed the installation of the new software but the problem with shutdown/restart was still there. At the moment I'm doing a restore from before I did the update from my backup, hoping that the problem will go away and I'll just stick with the previous OS. However if it's an easy fix I'd like to stay up to date with the software updates that come out periodically. Has anybody had this before? Any insight/advice is appreciated! Cheers [link] [comments]

My very old MacBook Pro crapped out on me this week. Posted: 04 Nov 2019 01:31 PM PST It's a 2011 MacBook Pro that has served me well. They want me to pay almost $400 to fix it and I just can't justify it with how old it is. That's almost what I paid to buy it refurbished a couple years back. Anyways—senior in college studying social work. Use my laptop for pretty much everything so I'm just going to splurge and buy a brand new one. I really really like the MacBook pros but they run a couple hundred more than the MacBook airs so my question is—what exactly is the difference? What am I going to get spending the couple hundred extra dollars on the pro I wouldn't with the air? Video streaming quality? Thanks guys! Trying to find something that'll be reliable and sturdy at LEAST through grad school if not for a while into my career as well [link] [comments]
Are Macbook airs worth repairing? and are they good for coding? Posted: 04 Nov 2019 04:32 PM PST So I'm currently thinking about fixing my brother's old early 2015 Macbook air and using it for coding. But, the thing is that: can it keep up with my Acer aspire e15? I personally prefer windows, but the Acer is too heavy and not really good for my back. And if there are programmers using the Macbook air, how is it? Can it keep up? To give you a perspective, I am a college student who in his first year and learning java for the first time. iMessage Isn't Syncing Properly Posted: 04 Nov 2019 10:21 AM PST I am running into an issue trying to sync my iMessage to my MacBook Pro. The messages and everything are syncing, but the contacts aren't. Some are phone numbers, others are people's names. I wonder how I can properly sync this to my Macbook? I can't figure it out. Good website in UK/Ireland to buy refurbished laptop Posted: 04 Nov 2019 01:26 PM PST Anyone know of a good website in the UK or Ireland to buy refurbished MacBook pros? Has to be 15" screen. 2015 Macbook Pro batter cycle count of "1"? Posted: 04 Nov 2019 12:44 PM PST Hey, I'm looking at getting a used 2015 Macbook Pro to tide me over until new models get announced potentially next year. A local seller has one listed near me in really good condition, looks brand new and has a batter cycle count of 1. I'm wondering if this is normal? My only thought is they recently replaced the battery but they don't mention that at all - wondering if this is some kind of trick or scam. Cheers in advance. [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Nov 2019 11:13 AM PST I'm not sure if this will go anywhere... but I'm interested in exploring and learning the story/history/origin of the glass screen on apple products - especially the macbooks. Wondering if there was a buildup, figuring there has to be somewhat. Or were ALL of the Apple computers made with glass? Any resources anyone has on this would be much appreciated.
