If I'm a writer, is the Macbook Air the best Macbook option for me? Posted: 31 Oct 2019 07:17 PM PDT General workload: -writing (90-95% of the time) -browsing -Youtube/Netflix/etc. My only other question is: Would the core count/speed make a difference in my case if I opted for the MBP 13''? Need advice MacBook Pro 2012 upgrade Posted: 31 Oct 2019 01:49 PM PDT Hi, I'm about to update my MBP by adding an SSD. I currently have a 1Tb stock hard drive and I've maxed the RAM (16gb). I've bought a compatible 1Tb SSD and a caddy to fit into the optical bay. But now I'm hesitating My options are: 1 - Replace hard drive with SSD If I do 1, I don't benefit from 2Tb of space Am I mistaken ? Am I missing other potential downfalls ? Which solution would you recommend ? Thanks ! [link] [comments] |

How to secure battery if adhesive is no longer working? Posted: 31 Oct 2019 08:27 PM PDT Hey, this is my first post here and I tried searching before posting but did not find anything. I hope that I didn't miss anything and if I did I'm extremely sorry. I replaced my battery today as it was in critical condition for a few months. I have been running off of the wall charger. It got to the point that even that wouldn't work for running youtube, and netflix was impossible. I swapped the battery out today and one thing I noticed was mine didn't have the 4 torque screws as in the video, but instead it had 4 rubber stoppers. Anyways that's beside the point I think, I adhered the new battery using its sticky backing and screwed everything in. It was all secure so I went ahead and put everything back together. But now that it is later in the evening when I picked up my macbook pro I can hear and feel the right side battery part clunking around. What is the safest/best way to go back in and adhere the battery to the body/secure the battery? [link] [comments] |
Call me crazy, but in the 13 inch market I prefer the 2019 Air to the 2019 base level Pro Posted: 31 Oct 2019 06:39 PM PDT I bought the Air and returned it for the pro. I gotta say after spending time with both, I want my air back. I know it's a dual core. But if I knew for basic uses a Macbook Air with 8gb or Ram would last me five years I'd definitely go pick that back up. Those of you that are tech savy, do you think 8GB of ram will be fine for my basic uses in five years along with the Dual Core CPU in the Air? I basically watch Youtube videos, browse reddit, type up documents, read, and listen to music. [link] [comments] |
REQ: USB-C Hub which includes charging and DVI 4k Video @ 60hz Posted: 31 Oct 2019 06:12 PM PDT Recently purchased a Samsung 4k monitor with DisplayPort input for use with Macbook ProI then purchased a USB C to DisplayPort Cable (4K@60Hz) which works beautifully However, if I want to charge the MBP at the same time, have to use another usb-c port which looks messy! The reason for this post, is am struggling to track down a HUB which, as the title, provides...
So in essence, would plug the hub into a single port on the MacBook, then plug in the MBP pro's charger into one of its USB-C inputs to provide charging and then plug in a USB C to DisplayPort cable, connecting the hub to the monitor, again to guarantee 4k at 60hz Make sense? Anyone have this setup? If not, provide any links to such a hub? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Oct 2019 05:21 PM PDT The title of this post sums it up pretty nicely. I am a freshman pursuing a CS degree and I want to get a MacBook Pro to last me about 4 to 5 years during my undergrad. The baseline model comes with 128GB in storage and 8GB RAM. I could hardly afford the other models and I need a laptop desperately. Does anyone think the specs of the baseline would suffice for typical CS program in college. Note: I have no problems with the storage as I could get an external hard drive or make use of cloud storage. But I wanted to know if 8GB ram would really hold me back. I'm not to knowledgeable in this subject area. Please help me out. I once thought I could afford it with the 16GB RAM but after the huge tax, I realized I was way in over my head. [link] [comments] |

Macbook Air 2018 Retina keys double typing. Posted: 31 Oct 2019 10:40 AM PDT I have a 2018 Macbook Air retina with the updated keyboard design, but the many keys are still double pressing. Do I have any recourse besides getting it replaced with the same flawed keyboard? [link] [comments] |
How can I turn off the Siri suggestions and turn on dictionary on Os X 15? Posted: 31 Oct 2019 09:47 AM PDT I had update my macbook air today from 14.1 to 15.1, and my dictionary loop up just didn't work at previous time, I had tried lots of ways to turn on my dictionary into look up instead of "siri suggestions", but it still can't show when I click look up to show the definition to dictionary. I had add the language definitions/translate in my dictionary setting and also turn on the loop up "three finger", I look for the setting for put my dictionary source into my loop up but I can't find it. And I had found in setting and the dictionary setting, and I didn't saw any choice that can change the source. Please help if you had idea how can I turn on the dictionary source into my loop up to let me easy to see the definition/translation in original websites. p.s. It's work before I update into 15.1 [link] [comments] |
Is this a good deal on a 2015 macbook pro? Posted: 31 Oct 2019 06:08 AM PDT Was thinking of buying: https://www.ebay.ie/itm/Apple-MacBook-Pro-13-i7-3-1GHz-512GB-SSD-16GB-Force-Touch-2015-A1502-ref-MF24/233382935662?hash=item3656b4fc6e:g:pAEAAOSwAz1dFN4z#shpCntId Do you think it's a good deal? Posted: 31 Oct 2019 02:04 AM PDT Hi My Reminders app is not syncing between iPhone SE (iOS 13) and Macbook 12" (Mojave). I read on Apple's site that I have to update to Catalina to make it work? Is there any way that I can fix it without updating to Catalina? [link] [comments] |
Screen Shots Are Broken On Catalina Posted: 31 Oct 2019 01:26 AM PDT My screenshots don't work like they used to. I'll hear the capture sound, but nothing saves. A restart temporarily fixes the issue only for it to happen again. How does Apple fuck up something so basic? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Oct 2019 12:30 AM PDT I recently spilled cola over my macbook air after which it stopped working. I brought it to be repaired but to no avail. My mother gave me her Macbook pro from which I transferred all the files that can be found in the basic folders such as desktop, downloads etc. to her dropbox. She asked me not to wipe the computer yet because she was concerned that there might still be information on it that she needs. Most her computer settings were transferred because she logged in with her apple ID. Is there anything she could lose or am I alright to clear the computer? [link] [comments] |
