My iPhone 11 Pro saved me at work this week Posted: 31 Oct 2019 09:13 AM PDT I want to preface that I've been an Android user for the last six years or so. The last iPhone I had was the 4. I'm a professional videographer/editor based in Toronto and for one of my gigs I needed to get a timelapse of the city during sunrise. The last week we've had some crummy weather with little to no sunrise and this Monday was the only day of the week where we'd have a proper sunrise. My project was due this week, so I didn't have any other opportunities. Sunrise was at 7:45 so I wake up at 5:30 am and get to the city by 6. All nearby parking is closed off so I had to park 15 minutes away and walk over to my spot. I set up my camera and get ready to shoot my timelapse, and to my luck, I forgot to pack an SD Card... I'm in full panic mode wondering if I should rush back to get one, and I conclude that by the time I get back the sun would have fully risen. LUCKILY purchased the 11 Pro three days prior to test it out for the 14 days and I say fuck it, let's see how 'pro' this camera really is. I put my thermos mug on my tripod, prop my iPhone against it and hit record. Two minutes in, I get a 20% battery warning (yes I should have charged my phone) so I start to panic again because I can't imagine any phone would last shooting continuous for an hour in 4k, but I got out with 9% left. I get home, edit the footage, and to my surprise, the quality of the footage was actually fairly unbelievable for a phone. It's by no means perfect, but my client didn't suspect a thing. The highlights got blown out significantly and you'll see below, but it retained A LOT of detail. It's fair to say that I'll be keeping this phone simply because it saved me a lot of headache and looking incompetent. Great phone overall too! For those interested, you can see the timelapse here Tl;dr: I am now an iPhone user for life. [link] [comments] | ||
