Free to play strategy games

I'm a strategy game lover and I really want one I can play on my phone. I saw an ad for one called TwoSeventy that was about elections and it seemed fun but it didn't fit the screen right and looked really stretched out.

I'm looking for free to play strategy game suggestions. For some other examples, I love the Civilization series and XCom-style combat.

8bitdo controllers do work wirelessly on iOS 13

Turns out you can pair 8bitdo controllers on iOS 13, and not just with a cable as I posted earlier. Credit goes to this other Reddit post for the instructions:

It is possible to use any 8Bitdo controller with iOS and iPadOS, its just hidden in the settings. On your device go to Settings>Accessibility>Switch Control>Switches>Bluetooth devices There you can put your controller in either macOS mode or Xinput mode (both work) and then once paired it will also be in the normal Bluetooth settings.

What's really interesting is the bit about it working in Xinput mode, which is a mode used in other, Android-centric controllers. I don't have any of those gamepads on hand to test out myself, though.

My friend and I are looking for a game to play together.

We both like strategy/base building games and would prefer to play recent releases.

I browsed through the App Store a bit but it's a little difficult to find good games like that.

Any recommendations?

Oh and it shouldn't require you to spend a lot of time each day in the game to make progress!

Games where you sell stuff?

I'm looking for iOS games where you make or buy stuff and sell it to make money. There's a lot of those tycoon type games where you run a business at a high level, but I'm interested in more low level stuff, I guess more like a lemonade stand type game? It's cool if it gets more involved but I'm mostly interested in the idea of having a small business if that makes sense.

Any ideas?

Game not playing on Apple Arcade?

Has anybody experienced this with Apple arcade? I have the game and I try to push play but nothing happens. Other games work fine though?
