    AdBlock not working in Safari

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 10:31 PM PDT

Literally no adblockers are working in safari for me, not even paid ones. Some will work on a few sites and then not on youtube. I've been using a different browser but I had safari set up perfectly pre-adblock breaking update.
has anyone got any solutions or working adblocks???

MacBook 2012 Microsoft Office and adobe

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 07:15 PM PDT

I upgraded my Mac and now I'm not able to use Microsoft office or adobe because they were outdated. To get the updated versions cost an incredible amount of money. I had no idea Microsoft office was this expensive. Any advice on how I can get it for free or for a very cheap price ? I know there an online version I can use for free but I have documents I'd like to edit and you always need WiFi for that

MacBook 15’ vs 13’ for music and video production!

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 08:53 AM PDT

Hi guys, I'm planning on upgrading from my 2012 13' MBP to either top of the line 13' or the 6-core 15 MBP or the 8-core MBP.

All with the given CPU config. / 16 gb RAM / 512 gb or 1 TB ssd

I will be using my laptop for mild video production (no 4K) and music production. I know that the 15 inch are known to have thermal issues and while I don't have a set budget I don't want to overspec or purchase something for future plans. Any advice?

    Macbook retina 2015 artifacting issue

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 05:07 PM PDT

    Hey,

I've got an early 2015 macbook retina that has been working great the past few years (Except the keyboard of course).

However, last night the screen just decides to die. The whole computer becomes unresponsive, trackpack loses its click and just locks up completely. i don't know how to exactly describe what happens, nor what causes it to happen but the whole screen just artifacts completely. it looks like a massive grid across the screen with each of the cells just flashing a random color. I've had this happen a few times, and am out of warranty so I'm not too sure what to do. There are no apple stores nearby either.

New to Mac - should I upgrade this laptop?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 03:26 PM PDT

Hey fellas, I'm a WindowsBoi who was given an old early 2011 Macbook pro. It's got 4GB of RAM, a 320GB harddrive (not SSD) and I've just finished the upgrade to High Sierra which is the newest supported OS.

I'm used to being able to run any programs on most iterations of the latest Windows. I noticed that's not really how Apple does things - I can't download XCode on High Sierra for example, because the OS is too old.

I like this laptop and would love to bring it up to par with my needs by buying more RAM and an SSD. My roommate has the same model and did that and his runs fast as hell. I'm a bit worried about sinking cash into a laptop that will be useless from a software standpoint in a couple years, though. Would you guys recommend spending the cash to upgrade the hardware or just ride this out with what I have? I'm not a Mac convert so I wouldn't buy a new Mac just to have the latest OS. Microsoft has my balls in its hands ;)

    2015 15 Inch MacBook in 2019/20?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 02:21 PM PDT

    Hi all,

My mid-2012 MacBook Pro is starting to die on me, mainly due to my neglect with the machine. I'm looking at the 2015 MacBook Pro 15 inch and wanted to know if it's worth getting nowadays. I don't need a super powerful machine or an ultra bright display, just something large enough for me to display my textbook and a word document on the same screen. What are some tips to consider if I'm looking at a 2015 machine? Is Swappa safe?

I don't want to spend more than $1000 on a "new" laptop.

MacBook Air (2012) deleted WiFi interface

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 01:47 PM PDT

On my MacBook Air 2012 with Catalina installed, I was having issues with WiFi as it wasn't connecting at all and was told to delete the WiFi though the network settings by pressing the minus button on the WiFi. Now I cannot see any option for WiFi whenever I press the plus button to add it back in.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Is a macbook pro 13 2015 worth it for me?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 01:33 PM PDT

I would use it for: pycharm, spss, sql (university student). I5-2.7ghz, 8gb ram Price: 800-810USD For comparison the 2019 macbook air costs 1450USD where I live. I'd like to use it for about 4 years. I could get a lenovo thinkpad t490 (i5-8265, 8gb ram) for 900$.

[Help] 2012 MacBook Pro 13 won’t wake from sleep, I have to hard reset it by holding the power button. Have tried everything on Apples troubleshoot menu.

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 07:02 AM PDT

Pretty much what the title says.

I can close it and sometimes it goes to sleep. The screen always turns off but sometimes it seems to stay running, as it gets hot. But sometimes it seems to actually sleep.

But regardless of if I manually put it to sleep, let it go to sleep and then close or if I close it and it goes to sleep (or just turns the screen off and stays running) I have to hold the power button and hard reset it to get the screen to come on or it to respond to anything else I do.

    My login screen is gone?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 05:45 AM PDT

I have a 2019 Macbook Air, the latest one. I don't know if it's a new thing but I only see my login screen on first boot, when I wake it from sleep or open the lid it takes me straight to my desktop wallpaper. I still login like normal, but that login screen with the Catalina background is gone. Is this a recent change in macos? I don't use my Macbook much so I don't know what changes has been made.

Does the Macbook Pro 2019 still have keyboard issues?

    Posted: 25 Oct 2019 04:54 AM PDT

Hello, I am planning to buy a laptop tonight or tomorrow, and I am stuck on deciding whether to buy a Macbook Pro 2019 13 inch for 1350 euros, or a Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 for 1300 euros.

My preference goes to the Macbook, but I am worried about the keyboard. It is supposed to be made of new material, and have better reliability. I couldn't find much online about the new keyboard, and therefore want to ask Reddit if this keyboard is as unreliable as the previous versions. I am planning to use the computer for a while, so I don't want something that is unusable after the keyboard warranty is over.

The Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 is another option for me, but I am worried it is not powerful enough, and the inferior battery life. I read online it struggles to play 4k video, and Premiere Pro export times are ridiculous. What I like about this laptop is that it is easy to disassemble, and some parts are sort of user-replaceable. The battery is glued in place and the ram is soldered on the motherboard. The keyboard pops right off, so that shouldn't be an issue getting replaced. The SSD is very easy to get to, but it is very hard to find one in the correct form-factor, and Microsoft doesn't sell them.

So the main question is, what should I do? I need a laptop right now, so waiting for the release of a new MacBook isn't an option. If it is indeed true that the keyboard on the 2019 MacBook is more reliable, I believe it is the best idea to buy that one. If it is not, should I get the Surface laptop or another Windows laptop in the +- 1300 euro range?
