Y'all told me to get a sturdy backpack. Is my iPad Pro safe now from bending? (12.9 inch version).

    Screen Protector or no?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2019 12:49 PM PDT

I just got an iPad Pro 11 and I wanted to know how everyone felt about screen protector's. I will be using the apple pencil for illustration. Does it mess with touch sensitivity? I just want to keep it protected since its an expensive item.

    iPad mini 4 Battery Drain

    Posted: 06 Sep 2019 12:05 PM PDT

I have an iPad mini 4, upgraded from the mini 2 for faster processor speed purposes and because I use Anki mobile app. On my mini 2 I would have decent "Stand By" time where it would last a few days if I didn't really use it. A few months after I got my mini 4 I noticed that my battery would drain "fast". Example, when it's left on, but not even in use (screen is off) the battery would drain 30% in approx. 12 hours. Then I tested it with it completely turned off, the battery would drain maybe 10-20%. I knew something was off. I called Apple support: they'll want you to 1) upgrade to newest ios 2) turn off all apps 3) turn off background app usage.

I did all this to no avail. I then visited the Apple repair site: https://getsupport.apple.com/?caller=pspipadrepair&SG=SG004&category_id=SC0113&symptom_id=20072

… After reading a few Reddit software thread issues pertaining to battery drain, I just opted to get a replacement, and mailed in my ipad for free (still in warranty). I didn't want to physically bring in my ipad and wait in line. They mailed me a brand new ipad mini 4 and I have my life back LOL... the thing will last nearly a week on standby (although I haven't tested it, just an assumption) based off how little it drains. It might drain 1% if left turned of but screen off, over night. I am very pleased because now I can actually use it. I would recommend using only OEM Apple brand chargers or at least make sure it has the exact same watt/amp specs. okay bye!

    Jump Desktop Wishlist (iPad Pro)

    Posted: 06 Sep 2019 07:10 AM PDT

I've just started using Jump Desktop and it's absolutely incredible, next to no lag and brilliantly designed with great features (particularly resolution match for the iPad). I have a few things that I really Hope are added though.

    1. Audio streaming with Fluid Desktop Connection, the fluid connection is far superior to RDC or VNC in terms of usability but adding audio streaming would make it perfect

    2. Full Bluetooth mouse support. I know there are currently 2 supported mice, and the devs are working on iPad OS 13 mouse support but Apple's APIs are terrible. A clever way to incorporate this, or adding support some some nice that aren't really expensive would be great

    3. More Apple Pencil functionality. It's great to use the Apple Pencil with Jump, almost makes me not need a mouse. But some added functionality would be great. The ability to hover, could maybe double tap the Pencil to go in and out of hover mode. Especially when coding it is helpful to be able to hover over functions to see their definitions etc. Also (I have no idea if this is possible from a developer end) but adding the ability to use the Pencil as a stylus, and use your finger to scroll (like on the surface tablet) just to make the experience more fluid on an iPad.

That's it for my wishlist, if anyone else has any ideas for features or discussion about Jump feel free to add some comments. Huge thank you to the devs for making such a great app!

Anybody use the magnetic Apple Pencil grip for the first gen pencil with an iPad Air 2019?

FRTMA for Apple Pencil Magnetic Sleeve, Soft Silicone Holder Grip for Apple iPad Pro Pencil, Red (Apple Pencil Not Included) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LY38UE5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_.xNCDbA2MPD52

I'm considering picking it up. Might be a nice way to keep track of it when I'm in between notes and the like but was hoping for some feedback. Thanks!

Will a screen protector allow the apple pencil to work on a cracked screen?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2019 07:42 AM PDT

I found a 9.7 inch iPad pro with a cracked screen for a good price on eBay. Screen is pretty much cracked all over, but no lcd bleed or anything, but if I put a plastic or glass screen protector will the apple pencil still work?

    Question about battery longevity

    Posted: 05 Sep 2019 09:52 PM PDT

I have been drawing a ton on my iPad Pro 11 using Procreate. I've been having a blast but I fear that using it for 6-8 hours a day might wear the battery down quicker than most users, and I'd imagine Procreate is pretty taxing to run all the time. Mostly I've just been leaving my iPad plugged in while drawing but I'm curious if that's the smartest option, compared to unplugging it at 100% then doing a normal charge cycle.

I'm not the smartest when it comes to this stuff so if anyone could shed some light on this that'd be awesome. Thank you!

Apple pencil tip is off center. This causes pressure sensitivity issues. Any way to fix?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2019 09:28 PM PDT

I bought a used iPad and apple pencil a few months ago. After getting used to it, I realized why I was having issues with consist line weights.

The apple pencil tip is not flush with the body of the pencil, it leans to one side. This means that one side takes extra pressure, and the other requires less pressure.

They told me this pencil was unused and I trusted them... I'm guessing it was dropped at some point or something.

Is there any known way to fix this? It is affecting my learning to draw on the iPad.

    Apple Pencil 1 questions

    Posted: 05 Sep 2019 10:26 PM PDT

There's an upcoming sale next week and I'm planning to get the 1st gen. Apple Pencil (I have the 2018 9.7 iPad). I'll mainly use it for note taking in med school starting next year. It's not cheap so I'm just concerned with its durability, battery life, and support in the future.

    1. I have read some reviews complaining of degraded battery life after only months of use. How true is this?
    2. Is the tip really fragile, especially when dropped? How is the overall durability of the pencil?
    3. Will it still be supported in the future? Like when its time to buy another iPad, what are the odds that there's still an iPad compatible with the 1st gen. pencil?

Bottomline is I want to keep and use it as long as possible. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Will my Photos Library from my iMac open on the new iPadOS?

    Posted: 05 Sep 2019 08:04 PM PDT

So i use the Photos app on my iMac to organize all my photos and videos. I keep the library on an external drive since it's so big. With iPadOS coming, has anyone been able to open up a Photos Library bundle inside iPadOS? This is really the only thing keeping me holding onto my iMac. I can't afford the monthly charge it would take to hold all the files I have in my Photos library in the cloud like they want me to.
