Sharing Apple TV Account Question Posted: 01 Sep 2019 12:01 AM PDT Hello! My parents want to share my Apple TV account because I have a huge library of films & tv shows. However, is there a way to limit the account with them? I don't want them to see my iCloud photos or possibly iMessage on their Apple TV. Any advice? [link] [comments] |
Duplicate account showing up on apple tv (on the beta) Posted: 31 Aug 2019 03:19 PM PDT As of today when I hold the TV button it shows that I have two accounts. I went into settings and they appear exactly the same. Is this happening to anyone else? I don't know if I should delete one because I don't want it to affect my Apple homekit settings [link] [comments] |
Samsung Q80 and the Apple TV 4K/Apple TV app? Posted: 01 Sep 2019 04:40 AM PDT Hey everyone, I'm looking at purchasing a new Samsung Q 80 TV. Of course, that TV supports the newly launched Apple TV app on their platform. Right now, I have an Apple TV 4K hooked up to my current TV, but I'm wondering, do I need the Apple TV anymore now that the Apple TV app exists on Samsung TVs? Also, Samsung does not support the Dolby Vision standard because they leverage an open source version called HDR 10+. With the launch of the Apple TV app on the Samsung platform, does that mean that Apple will now support HDR 10+ as well? Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Internet Speed Fluctuations On Other Devices While Using Apple TV Posted: 31 Aug 2019 06:59 PM PDT My apple tv is connected through WiFi using Altice One. It is connected to the 5ghz wifi connection and is about a few inches from the main box. Streaming on the Apple TV does not cause any visible problems on the Apple TV itself, but any other devices connected to the network will experience sudden and recurring speed fluctuations. For example, using Discord and CSGO as live ping viewers, connection to both servers was about 30ms and 40ms, respectively, but as soon as the Apple TV started streaming both applications would experience sudden spikes of ping into the 500ms area. My internet connection is definitely capable of running all three services at once with a speed of 300mbps and I have tried to recreate the streaming, gaming, and server chat situation without the apple tv, using Youtube to watch an 8K video and I have no problems, but whenever the Apple Tv is streaming then there are sudden fluctuations. If anyone has a solution to my issue please let me know. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Apple TV not controlling Samsung TV anymore Posted: 31 Aug 2019 07:54 PM PDT I have a Samsung Smart TV and I've been using it with my Apple TV 4th generation for over a year now. When I first got my Apple TV it would automatically turn on the TV and then turn it off when I put it into sleep mode. All of a sudden as of a few weeks ago it just randomly stopped controlling the TV, so now it won't turn the TV on or off. I can still change the volume though. I've power cycled the Apple TV and the Samsung TV and I've changed HDMI cables and I've turned off Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) on the TV and turned it back on and I've messed with settings on the Apple TV but it just will not work. Any help is appreciated. Thabks! [link] [comments] |
Clarifications before getting Apple TV Posted: 31 Aug 2019 08:18 AM PDT I'm thinking about getting an Apple TV (probably 4K but not sure yet) in anticipation of Disney+! Obviously, a Roku would be a cheaper option, but I'd like to be able to have a little more compatibility between the content on my phone and iPad photos and a few TV shows I've bought on iTunes, for example. But I'm not sure that it's worth it. I'm hoping some of y'all with experience can help! Does Apple TV support screen mirroring at all? I'm sure this would be blocked on some apps, but is it generally possible? Can I show the photos app while screen mirroring (assuming I can mirror), or would I need to use photostream or something? Are there any major apps that aren't included on AppleTV? I have a smart tv that doesn't support a Hulu app now. I'm hoping to avoid another such scenario. Is there anything else I should know that makes the Apple TV a better option than a Roku? I use my iPad and iPhone a lot and love the, but I'm a PC user, so it's not as though all my content is Apple-based for maximum compatibility here... [link] [comments] |
Can you set up Infuse to stream from multiple sources at once? Posted: 31 Aug 2019 05:56 PM PDT My main movie library is currently stored on my computer's hard drive, but I've run out of space. I've got a bunch more movies stored on a 2TB external HD, and am wondering if I can set Infuse up to pull from both sources and display the movies together as if they shared the same library? Or will it make me choose the source each time I open Infuse, and limit me to what's stored on that particular drive? I'm basically trying to avoid having to copy everything over to my external if possible. [link] [comments] |
Why is USB playback still not available? Posted: 31 Aug 2019 07:12 PM PDT It's maddening. Yes I could put together a NAS and point it in the right direction but plain old offline playback still isn't a given. [link] [comments] |
Slow 5ghz network issue ATV 4K Posted: 31 Aug 2019 03:18 PM PDT I got today a refurbished ATV 4K that is used to steam high bitrate files on plex (4K remux) On my android tv over 5ghz WiFi no issue, 65gb file directplay fine, no buffering whatsoever. On the ATV 4K (same spot as tv, 3 meters away from router) I cannot directplay the same 65gb file without buffering every 10 sec. (I can confirm it direct plays and no transcode is creating the buffering issue) I did a Speedtest and I get 70-150 mbps on the ATV. I did the same speedtest on the same 5ghz network on my iPhone X placed next to the ATV I get 250 mbps. My wired pc gets 980mbps. I tried to restart my router and ATV no change. Wired ATV get 900mbps but I can't keep the cable across the living room. My question: have all ATV crap antenna or has mine an issue? I know my WiFi can handle this as my iPhone X and my Android TV have no issue getting 300mpbs+ on the same spot. Thanks. [link] [comments] |

Prerequisites to watch in dolby vision? Posted: 31 Aug 2019 09:21 AM PDT So what i mean is, does a movie need to be specifically mastered in dolby vision to look correct? If i force dolby vision on my appletv and watch a hdr10 movie, would it look as intended? As i understand it would not(?) because the movie doesnt contain dolby vision dynamic metadata, therefor the appletv wont receive the metadata which is needed to display it correctly (?) Dont know if im totally off or not [link] [comments] |
How come on my phone Netflix isn’t a connected app? Posted: 31 Aug 2019 05:32 AM PDT On my Apple TV app in my phone Netflix isn't a connected app. Why is this? Is it fixable? [link] [comments] |
What is the purpose of the multiuser function? Posted: 31 Aug 2019 04:57 AM PDT I just added the account of my wife to the apple tv (tvOS 13 beta). But now I'm asking why? I see no advantage of this. It's exactly the same as my account. Same homescreen layout. Same color scheme. Same Login. Even the tv app List is identical. Why should I add multiple accounts to the apple tv if it makes absolutely no difference? [link] [comments] |
