Anyone else had issues with the mute button on the Touch Bar in FaceTime? Posted: 25 Sep 2019 06:44 PM PDT The mute button in the FaceTime window works just fine, but the Touch Bar version of the button doesn't work. The other buttons appear to work though. [link] [comments]

2013 MacBook Air (A1466) won’t turn on Posted: 25 Sep 2019 01:18 PM PDT My MacBook Air was working perfectly fine last night but today it won't boot up. The charging cable green light is on but no response when pushing power button. Tried all the recommended options on Apple support (SMC, etc.). Only issue I had before was that the battery needed replacing soon but it didn't seem like an urgent issue. Has anybody else had the same problem? Will try and take it into an authorised Apple repair store ASAP. [link] [comments]
New MacBook Pro Randomly Shuts Off Posted: 25 Sep 2019 08:25 PM PDT I bought the 2019 13'' MacBook Pro today and so far it has twice simply gone to a black screen and shut off while I was doing work. The battery was nowhere near empty both times, and it would not turn on until I plugged it into a charger. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm going to be going back to the store tomorrow with it most likely. Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments]
Does True Tone use more battery? Posted: 25 Sep 2019 07:58 PM PDT Typing this from a Macbook Air 2019 and was wondering if it makes a difference. I selected yes on the setup to true tone [link] [comments]
Need help finding used Macbook Posted: 25 Sep 2019 06:24 PM PDT Hey r/macbook, I'm looking into getting a laptop and would really like to find a good quality used Macbook with at least 8 gb of ram. I don't really use the computer for anything more than basic internet stuff - no fancy photoshop or audio etc. Which Macbook would you recommend? Would I be fine getting 4 gb of ram as opposed to 8? What older models are still solid options for someone who is very budget conscious? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Sep 2019 02:11 PM PDT Apple has a pretty good price right now on refurbished 2016 15-inch MBPs. I was going to get a 13-inch with similar specs but this has a lot more to offer. I have 16GB in my current MBP and really use most of it daily, so I want at least the same. And 16GB seems like more than enough for 90% of the stuff I do on my 2011MBP. But now that I'm looking at the different deals around the web and I'm finding some 32GB 15-inch MBPs for just a bit more money. If I spend under two grand then I'm OK buying another in a few years; if I spend over — say on a 32GB — then I'll want it to last longer. So this brings me to the question: Does anyone see 32GB becoming a must-have in the next few years for those who aren't editing videos every day or doing similar work? Or do most of us agree that 16GB should be enough for those of us who do graphics, development, and writing work? I'm definitely leaning towards the 16GB 15-inch (or even the 16GB 13-inch), but if spending a bit more can get me double that RAM that I'll actually use to justify the cost, then I've gotta do that. So: 16GB OK? Or will we all regert* not having 32GB come 2024? * spelled like this on purpose, trying to make it a "thing". [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Sep 2019 04:10 PM PDT I wish to get myself an 11" MBA. I found one MacBook Air 6,1 from 2014. I have a few questions. Will it run recent versions of MacOS? How can I install MacOS fresh on it? It comes with updated Mojave, but I can't trust this pre-installed system, I'd rather start with a brand new install. Sorry for the noob questions I'm new to Apple. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Sep 2019 03:19 PM PDT Hey guys, I got my keyboard changed recently on my 2017 mb pro. its been great so far but I have noticed that the H button has a little different sound than the rest of the keys and seems to be a liiiiiitle less responsive. I don't know if its just me being paranoid at this point or what but has anyone had a similar issue that the key sounds/feels a little different then the rest ? thanks :) [link] [comments]
Can mac overheating cause potential permanent damage to mac? Posted: 25 Sep 2019 02:12 PM PDT There have been very few occurrences of my fan going off, usually when Im on chrome (I know i shouldn't use Chrome for mac).My main concern is that it would cause permanent damage to my mac. I use a MacBook pro 13 in 2019 [link] [comments]
2011 13" Macbook Pro Hard Drive just died. Have a few questions about a replacement Posted: 25 Sep 2019 02:04 PM PDT After 8 long years of faithful service, the hdd in my mbp is finally crapping out on me (smart status is failing in disk utility). I'm looking for a replacement hard drive, I was looking at this ssd I found on amazon. Some questions:

Macbook Pro External Display Underscanning for no reason Posted: 25 Sep 2019 12:31 PM PDT So this has been happening for months and isn't that big of a deal but I am curious as to why this is happening. I connect my Macbook Pro to my monitor via a thunderbolt to HDMI cable and when I have the thunderbolt end plugged into the rear most thunderbolt port on my macbook it works perfectly. However, if I plug it into the port closer to the front the image quality is worse and underscans quite a bit. I dont understand why this would happen with only one of the ports. I have checked the display settings and everything looks normal. I simply just choose to use the rear port so it isnt really a problem, and i dont use a dual monitor setup (even if i wanted to I dont have another thunderbolt cable so I would use the HDMI port on the other side) but I am curious as to why this is happening. Posted: 25 Sep 2019 11:15 AM PDT I recently switched to Mac from a lifetime of windows. I am loving it. I currently have a MacBook Pro 15inch i9 processors, 16gb RAM, 1TB hdd. Now I am thinking of buying Macbook Air as well to provide more portability for travel - however looking at the current crop of MBA, it see,'s they are only marginally lighter or thinner than MBP. What would be your opinion - is an additional Macbook Air worth it? What configuration is the best? [link] [comments]
Macbook Overheating? 2018 Model Posted: 25 Sep 2019 05:35 AM PDT Hello, I recently just bought a Macbook that was preowned, although I am aware it was bought in October 2018. This macbook has an i7, 512gb SSD 16gb Ram etc. Although along where the touchbar is, just above it gets very warm. Sometimes it could be really warm when I surf the web, or at other times when doing photoshop, league of legends etc which makes sense. This is my first macbook, I am just wondering if this is normal? Or is there something I had to do? [link] [comments]
Posted: 25 Sep 2019 10:00 AM PDT Hello guys, I need help. There is a sweepstakes in my country you need to come up with a short and interesting slogan for macbook air..The best one gets a new macbook air. I came up with some slogans but they don't seem to be good enough, does anyone have any idea? New mac would be fantastic gift for me(I started Software engineering college), but i think the chances are very small. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
