Is my mac supposed to be overheating?

Is my mac supposed to be overheating?

Bought a 2019 13 in macbook pro about a month ago. Has the 2.4 ghz intel i5 cpu with 16 gb of ram. The machine is perfect for doing basic tasks like surfing the web or watching movies, but whenever I try to do pro level tasks, the machine gets extremely hot.

Recently I tried to install a Virtual Machine, and while I was installing windows on the VM, the CPU % went up to 120-130%. The machine was also running extremely hot. Shouldn't the pro laptop be able to handle running a VM without getting unnecessarily hot. That thing was excusable as I know that Virtual Machines can use a lot of cpu power. However when I got on a google hangout, the laptop did the same thing. CPU percentage went up to 75% while I was using google hangouts. Nothing else was running. The laptop again got quite hot. Is this normal on the macbook pros? It's my first mac laptop and I had assumed it would be relatively cool except under extremely tasking tasks, like editing 4k videos or something. It should also be noted that my battery went down 23% in 30 minutes while on the google hangout.

Am I missing something here? My crappy $800 laptop could do all this without getting hot at all. Do the macs just run hot?

I had the mac on my desk, nothing was blocking the fans. I also don't want to purchase any stands or anything, as this is a $2000 laptop and shouldn't need 3rd party accessories(besides the dongles) to be able to function properly.

Below I've attached a picutre of the cpu usage during the google hangouts.

If anyone knows what the CPU time, idle wake ups, and PID sections mean that would also be helpful.

Macbook battery replacement, what happens to those who already replaced theirs?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2019 10:50 PM PDT

Hello, so I saw the battery replacement program for Macbooks, but I have already replaced mine in 2017. When I put my serial number it says

" The serial number you entered is not eligible under this program because either:

    • It's not in the affected serial number range.
    • Our records show that your device has already been serviced as part of this Program."

I didn't service my battery as part of this program.

Are those of us who changed our battery on our own eligible for anything? I don't get why it claims it has been serviced under the program.

    Thank you!

2019 13" macbook pro lid issue

    Posted: 06 Sep 2019 09:57 PM PDT

I bought a new 13" mbp last week. Today, the lid sims to open slightly on its own when i place it inside my bag with the hinge-side first. This, however, doesn't happen when I place it on my table or any flat surface. Is there a problem on the magnets in the lid? Or is it normal? Thank you in advance!

just went from 2015 MBP to 2019... turning on from lid/key/trackpad touch normal?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2019 08:41 AM PDT

I just upgraded from 2015 MBP to 2019 MBP. Every macbook ive had before 2015 would turn on and off the same way. after shot down, it would only turn on if i pressed the power button.
with the 2019 macbook pro touch bar 13 inch, if i shut down, it will turn on if i open the lid, touch a key or touch the track pad. shouldnt the trackpad NOT work if its shut down?
is it not shutting down completely? is this normal for the new macbook pros?
makes it annoying if im trying to clean or dust the laptop and dont want it to turn on from the slightest touch. and i want to know 100% my macbook is off when i shut it down

Is the 15" Pro worth the extra $?

    Posted: 06 Sep 2019 07:35 PM PDT

    15" MacBook Pro 256GB SSD 16GB RAM $3149

    OR

    13" MacBook Pro 256GB SSD 16 GB RAM $2619

I use Lightroom and may use Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro in the future. But mainly, lightroom is my go-to program. I do travel a bit and always take my laptop and camera gear with me. I want something that will be a better investment. My last and only MacBook Pro was a 2011 15" and I never upgraded it from Snow Leopard. That's how it kept running for so long.

Macbook randomly searches for non-existent bluetooth keyboards

    Posted: 06 Sep 2019 12:04 PM PDT

Sometimes when I close my macbook pro (late 2012, 10.14.6) and open it back up later, I am unable to type in my password because my keyboard is disabled. A minute or two later my computer tells me that it could not detect a bluetooth keyboard connection. I have to wait another minute or two before the notification goes away and my laptop keyboard is enabled again. I have never even set up a bluetooth keyboard on this computer. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hi, I need help for a future purchase.

    Posted: 06 Sep 2019 08:45 AM PDT

I'm planning to buy a baseline Macbook Air 2018 or iPad Pro 11 inch.

I'm not an video editor or heavy user.

The things I need to do are only MS Word, MS PPT/Keynote, PDF, basic clerical work stuff.

I'm not sure what the difference between the Air 2018 and 2019 as I haven't seen one in our country yet.

I've been very intrigued with the ipad pro and its keyboard but I need opinions.
